I just bought a used Electrolux dryer, it stopped drying completely on the fourth load of clothes, I make sure I clean the lint trap out after each load dried. & drained the water reservoir. I was thinking maybe it's a another lent trap in the back of the dryer that goes out the aluminum tubing out the window, but I don't think so, that's why I'm reaching out to KZread. But I will try looking down in the lint trap after removing the outer I will remove the inner & check for more Thanks a million dude😊

Thank you for posting this! I have the same dryer and my heating element also burned out. Fortunately, I still had a month or two on my warranty. No one ever told that I would need to do a cleaning under the vent. I always found lint trapped there, but just removed it with my fingers. Upon closer inspection, I saw it had tons of lint on either side of the vent. This video was fantastic. I removed the vent and cleaned everything out in less than 5 minutes!

Make sure to actually just pull out the lint trap and scrub it with soap and a toothbrush to get the residue off of it. We have to do it at least once a week. The residue from dryer sheets, lint, etc builds up on it and drastically reduces the air flow, causing the heating element to have issues. This, of course, is on top of properly cleaning out the lint from the areas mentioned in this video. :-)

The "clean lint" feature doesn't mean to take the trap completely apart and clean it. It means to pull out the trap and scrub/wash it. It builds up a lot of residue from dryer sheets, etc, and you have to clean that trap at least once a week. We pull ours out and use soap and a toothbrush to clean the residue/lint off of the trap. We own the 617 series, and were having a lot of condensation coming out of the bottom of the door to the dryer. We finally discovered that the trap had too much residue on it, so it wasn't getting enough air flow, causing the condensation.

I cleaned my and stop using dryer sheets but that did not work my clean filter message still comes on and there is no lint. I can may be pull off the the edge of the lint trap about the size of a pea if you roll it up. The lint seems to bypass the filter and we find more lint outside then I ever get off the filter. And we changed all kinds of parts and the dryer will only heat for a short while. It takes me about 2 hours to dry a small light load of clothes. We paid a lot of money for this dryer new and it is a piece of junk. Good Luck with who ever owns an Electrolux dryer.

Hey Matt, FLT1979 Is on the right track. Here are a few things that your readers should look at before calling customer service. (First) NEVER PREFORM ANY SERVICE TO YOUR DRYER WITHOUT UNPLUGGING IT FIRST !!! (SECOND) Check the vent outside. The one with the louvers or the angled piece outside your home. Make sure there are NO blockages there. Small creatures like to build nests in places like that: ie. mice, bees. As for the readers that have a roof exhaust they should check for the same thing and should add that the roof is exposed to all the elements. Snow, leaves, wind, birds, humidity and rain. Rain and humidity I’d be careful of mostly. If your dryer vent on the roof has been there for a long time is may be stuck in the open position. Allowing rain and moisture to go down past the louver and down into the tube. This will cause the lint to gather and slowly get worse every time the dryer is used. Replacement of shingles could be another issue. If the roofers didn’t seal or damaged ie: crimped or closed off, around the duct work going through the roof that will cause the dryer to not breathe freely. Water or humidity may be entering the exhaust ducting as well. IF anyone needs to go onto the roof they should employ a professional to do this. (Third) Dryer ducting is optimal when ran horizontally. Vertical ducting runs higher than eight feet are problematic. There are KZread videos that show dryer ducting doos and don’t. In some areas there are housing codes that frown on roof vents and long (longer than eight feet) ducting runs. Lastly, its important that the dryer ducting is CLEAR. The rule of thumb with this is: if you don’t remember when or ever having your dryer ducting inspected or cleaned. ITS TIME TO GET IT DONE TODAY!!

I should have done this more often - pulled the lint trap and removed the cover as in here. Pulled out a LOT of lint below. My W/D set is 7 years/2mos old. I'm giving it to a relative to get the most current new versions (steam). It was easy to vacuum/pull out, replace and keep using!

I had to have the steam feature disconnected because it dripped water into the dryer. It worsened over time.

I as well have this same dryer. The heating element burned out in the first 18 months, even after cleaning the lint filter before each use and occasionally I vacuum the inner part below the filter. The heating element replacement cost me $634.00. In my opinion, too much lint gets past the filter during each cycle. Electrolux needs to recall and a fix to remedy the problem.

Thanks couldn't figure out where the other screws were. By the way, I have a new model and it takes a #2 square head screw driver for those that haven't started.

I have the same issue with this dryer! Right now, I am trying to find a video for how to disassemble the entire thing because there is a ton of lint built up behind the rear panel (there is a part to remove that is not indicated in the manual, so finding a way to remove it is difficult). Anyway, this is a great idea to remove the whole thing! Easier than trying to do it with that grate in place!

You need to remove the lent assembly duct completely that's why you have to clean it every six months.

I just bought brand new electrolux stand up washer and dryer and the dryer after the FIRST load, went off letting me to clean lint tray. this is something I will talk to customer service about.

The clog cannot cause the heating element to fail. The heating element fails because of thermal stressing of the heater coil support which causes warping and leads to arcing on the coils. If you examine the damaged heating element you will see that the coils weld to themselves and thats typically where the breaks happen. 2 of 3 of my coils had breaks like that, they happened near the warped end of the support. The design for the heating element is trash they made the coil support way too thin. You would think they would do some thermal stress analysis. Another contributing factor to the failure is that the portions of the coil near the exhaust end (where the warping occurs) experiences higher thermal load because all heat produced by the coil jas to pass over that point. The thermal cycling makes that part of the coil brittle, all my breaks were on that end. Ideally you would want a coil of uniform thickness to have an evenly distributed heat load, they designed in a weak point. I would have made a more compact design where heat could be drawn of the coils uniformly. But there design is crazy cheap to make, too bad they charge like $100 for the replacement part. Its probably only $10 to make (including labor because the part is made in Mexico).

BTW do you know how to unclog the fabric softner part in the washer tray. It seems to stay full of water and it does not feel like the clothes are very soft no matter how much we put in.

Your lint filter is missing a gasket around the edge, that might contribute to all that lint in there. I have a gasket on mine and still get some lint below.

Can you show us a picture of what the dryer with gasket would look like ?

I just got a huge huge pile of lint out of mine with a wire clothes hanger. This is a design flaw in my opinion. I have never had to do anything like this with a dryer. I took the cover off and reached down in with my hands and got gobs of lint out..I then reached over to the right and found more huge gobs of lint. Bruised my arms in the process. Will never do that again. Just ordered an attachment for my vacuum cleaner. If your dryer vent goes through your roof you should get a professional to clean the vent out in order to prevent a fire as well.

OK so I just took the cover off an found that the hole to the right of the lint filter bottom was also clogged. This is where the lint should be going out of the dryer to the dryer vent pipe..HHMMM something is not working as it should be. Big fire hazard. I called my Sales REP and he is contacting electrolux to see what he can find out. UUGGGHH

The both washer /& dryer worked great for 6 yrs but they both have there problems of mold ( door gasket ) boot seal. & the dryer lint gets trapped passed the screen /////High Maintenance//////////////;-(

And the internal shaft inside the dryer that runs between the lint trap cavity and where the vent duct attaches? Who cleans that? Lint clogs that too!

I have this model and I have the opposite problem: it doesn't catch any lint. Nor does that area under the plastic grid catch any lint. There's no lint in the vent either and none outside at the exhaust end. I don't know where the lint is going and it makes me nervous.

Have you checked to make sure that all of your venting is properly attached to the dryer, and that it is properly venting outside? If there's anywhere that air can escape, then it will vent the lint out there, instead of into the lint trap itself. If you have confirmed that all venting is correct and no air is escaping, then I would contact Electrolux directly to see what the issue is.

I have the same issue. No lint in the lint trap at all. Some appears to have vented outside, but I fear that there may be a dangerous pile of lint somewhere in the bowels of the machine. Dryer seems to be weak on heat lately too.

I appreciate you made the video but I question why anyone would expect a consumer to disassemble the unit to clean the lint that escapes the "lint screen" simply because of a very poor design. This Electrolux unit I have is less than two years old and is horrible. We clean the lint trap every load, sometimes during loads. We bought a special long vacuum crevice tool that is designed for cleaning tight spaces so we could get into the airway below the lint trap. Despite this we have had four repairs due to lint buildup (motor, drum belt and idler). Any competent person who looks at the exhaust air path while the unit is disassembled will see the inherent flaws in the design that result in lint buildup inside the unit. I have never seen anything like it. We are initiating a lemon claim now.

will you let me know if there is a way for us to join that claim? exactly the same issue on our end - i have disassembled twice myself after paying a repair man $100 x 2 visits to do the same on a unit that has operated less than 2 years! unbelievably bad design - would love to get electrolux to fess up - their customer service is worthless.

ok, well I am watching this a little to late - this is very bad design i lost my whole home from this horrible dryer!! I cleaned lint trap 99% of the time would of never dreamed of having to take it apart to clean the lint out!! I pray no one has to go thru what I just went thru!! my 6500 square foot home burnt to the ground due this issue :(

This is a poor design that so much lint gets around the filter. And I would do it every couple of months and not 6 mos.
