Our lovely Rover P6 didn't always look so good! Here's a flavour of the restoration journey. Many thanks to ‪@jaysclassiciron825‬ #petrolheads #classiccar #classiccars #classiccarshow

Looks better than brand new and probably it’s a stronger car than ever before. Very good restoration. Enjoy!

The P6 is one of my all time favourites and this example looks like it just came out of the show room. I spent many miles as a passenger in one of these back in the late 70s and still hope that maybe one day I might actually get the chance to drive one. Seems pretty unlikely but it's good to know there are other people that love and appreciate these cars and are keeping the dream alive.

They are extraordinary cars which really get under your skin. I had my first one at age 21 - not for very long because it was a bit of a rough, cheap example but it made such an impression which really inspired this purchase last year - some 33 years later 🙄 - now age 54 and still loving the Rover P6. Thanks for watching - should be a video every week about our adventures.

My father had three of these over the years and he absolutely adored them, and then brought an SD1 and absolutely hated it, the build quality of the SD1was atrocious. My childhood memories are filled with the P6 and what a great car it really was.

They are great cars - I had one (briefly) as a 'cheap' fun car when I was 21, 33 years ago - and always wanted another better example. Finally got one! The car is an 'antique' at 52 years old, but what is incredible is how well it still copes in modern traffic. I had to go on the M1 the other day and it was fine and smooth at 60/65 - no drama at all. Thanks for watching - there are other videos on here about this car and of course more to come now the weather is improving 🤞

I had one in about 84. Mine was in Mexico brown a 74/N 3500 it was ten years old but had rotted out around the rear torsion bars and all around the rear floor pan . The car had only done 54,000 ! I know it no longer exists, but it's great to see a classic restored like yours and what was a typical 70s colour that i believe is Almond Beige? is now looking up to date !

Hi Mike - yes the colour is Almond. We wanted a very 70's colour - so whilst the blue, the red, the white etc are all great colours, you can get those on modern cars whereas Almond just screams 70's. I had my first P6 34 years ago when I was 21!! GOV747L - which was as rotten as a pear, but made a great impression on me nonetheless. Thanks for watching - plenty of videos to come on this car

@OldCarsNewVan I can also remember my p6 from 40 years ago XLH 616N strange I often think about it! Driving along through the countryside with the windows down! With 3528cc the last Rover in its true form !

@@Mike-kc8rl Funny isn't it, had many cars but seldom remember the reg numbers. GOV747L is burned into my brain!!! They are an extraordinary car that really get under your skin - and drive so well they must have been a complete revelation in the 60's when they were first launched. At 52 years old 'Dizzy' our P6 is an antique, and yet without pushing it she cruises around so effortlessly and the ride is so much better than any other vehicle we own on rough Sheffield roads

Such a restoration is really hard work and explains why restored cars also have their high prices. Hours of time and of course the material are going into this - and for some cars you'll never get it back when selling the vehicle. Seeing all the fotos so you can be sure what is done on this. Certainly a lot of stuff that still needed a bit of care compared to the other one you checked first. The rusty surprises are mostlikely only visible when removing some body parts.

Thanks Sven - the guy who spent 2 years restoring it - @jaysclassiciron825 (see comment below) agrees with me it was borderline the amount of work whether it was worth it. But so glad it was done. Jay sold the car to someone who didn't seem to like it!!!!! who then sold it to the classic car dealer I bought it off. So actually I got a good deal because the price I paid wouldn't come close to the cost of restoring it to the standard it's now at.

Unfortunately, the Federal Exhaust Emission Prohibition Ordinance and Transport Tourism Emission Restriction Ordinance will soon ban the exhaust emissions and transport tourism emissions!

Hi - which country are you referring to? Here in the UK old cars (over 40 years old) are exempt from any emission restrictions. This Rover is ULEZ compliant which means it can drive in the ultra low emission zones in London - not because it is low emissions, but because of it's age.

In the meantime there are a couple of 'Shorts' I published on the 9th & 13th of March showing the car being delivered and driven at slow speeds - you can hear a nice 'rumble' from the V8. Correct - my car is a V8 auto. But you have to remember these cars are over 50 years old now, so when replacing missing parts in a restoration one can't always be too fussy! It's more a case of what's available, are they in good condition and reasonably priced. But good spot on the detail.
