Fun fact : Zimzalabim was supposed to be released few years ago but Lee Sooman (SM's producer) said that Red Velvet didn't ready yet to carry the song so it was getting postponed until this year. Lee Sooman finally approved the girls' abilities to bring out the unique texture of this song. I mean if not RV, who else can carry a song like this? I know it's not charting as good as their past songs but Zimzalabim is awesome, at least for me lol (Yes, I have unique music preference when it comes to Red Velvet)

The fact that MANY dislike this song proves the point that Kpop fans are accustomed to a particular sound and concept for e.g either cute concept or girl crush concept. The same goes for the sound. Red velvet is the only kpop girlgroup that I know who NEVER repeats what they've already done before, even if one concept has been extremely successful(bad boy), they won't repeat it. Respect to them for choosing to try and put out different sides of music everytime they comeback. That's why Red Velvet is my favourite kpop girlgroup. You will never get bored of them. Moreover, their bsides are heavenly good.

i totally agree. this song stood out to me and will be memorable years from now, whereas some songs this year are forgettable bc they're not unique. red velvet loves pushing the boundaries of pop music and that's why i love them so much.

They may not always end up being my favorite songs but I like that they’re willing to take risks and do some creative stuff to keep it fresh and experiment to see what can work. I’d rather a genre always keeps me at the edge of my seat with excitement rather than comfortably laying back every song knowing what’s coming every time.

To me that's one of the most appealing things about RVs music. Even songs of theirs that could easily be bland become really great because of those addicting layered vocals and tight production. Like can you imagine a random solo artist performing Russian Roulette? I don't care how good your voice is; it couldn't hold a candle to the RV version. Those smooth layered vocals just carry it.

Editing in the part they're referring to behind them while they're talking about it is pretty great.

Zimzalabim song is one song I couldn't get with for the first time when I heard but I gave it a second chance and then I started screaming zimzalabim ,it's really good experiment with vocals of different range and that music is really hypnotic

This was really cathartic. There’s this video I like about why it’s hard to remember what happens in the Transformers movies, because every single frame is demanding that you pay attention to it instead of being in service to telling a story, your brain overloads and just stops absorbing information. That is Zimzalabim for me. I remember y’all putting out a vid called “Why Zimzalabim Works” and I can’t any other songs that needed an in-depth explanation of why it technically constitutes a *song* instead of a bunch of cool elements that fight each other for your attention. There's always something to discuss about red velvet songs, I don't particularly 'stan' red velvet but i love watching musicians react to their songs because it's so interesting.

i know most of them enjoyed/appreciated the song but honestly give them all a few more listens and they will be in love with it PERIOD

When it was released, I didn't hate it but I didn't like it either. I thought the chorus was lacking. The only part that I liked was the bridge and onwards. A few months later, after not hearing it for a while, I began to long for it and it grew on me. Now I keep on listening, singing, and jamming to it together with Psycho like it's my anthem.

I know I'm late for the party but I personally love how the song just feels like a rollercoaster ride, which was clearly the vibe they were going for what with all the rollercoaster imagery in the choreo and mv. It's funny, there are a million and one K-Pop songs with the word 'rollercoaster' put in there somewhere but the song that has a rollercoaster concept doesn't say it once
