Yunyi's reactions are so on point and a perfect blend of a typical kpop reactor and a classical musician perspective; she has a deeper understanding of the genre and asian/ korean culture, which is why her commentary is refreshing. her take on Lies is exactly how I feel about the song especially in regards of its melody/ nostalgic feel and how different it is to kpop now; she totally gets it... everyone else kind of lack substance in their reaction, no matter how much music theory they throw at me that 5:00-6:00 of yunyi's explanation was perfect; season 2 lacks yunyi's voice

I agree. About Yunyi and about the lack of substance in other reactors. My fav from Yunyi here is what she said about BB's popularity is their member's individuality. I personally think that the blend of so many timbres of voice and letting them all shine in a song is difficult, but GD somehow made it happen. Yunyi's explanations are also very simple and straight to the point as well. Even if someone isn't all knowledgeable about music theory.

Cathy Lee yeah she doesn’t approach the music as an outsider; she actively listens to kpop so it’s more developed (Kevin too). It also sounds like everyone has reactor fatigue, like initially they were foreign to kpop so everything was surprising which made their reactions viral and candid but now they pretty much understand the general style and nuances of kpop, so it’s hard to find songs to react to without sounding repetitive; everytime yunyi comes up I’m excited to hear what she has to say. She’s that inviting

I kinda feel that since Yunyi left Kevin carried many of the videos on his own. After Yunyi and Kevin, my favorite reactor is Umu, so it kinda sucks that she doesn't appear in these videos. At least she has her own reviews though.

Hands down, the KINGS OF KPOP. Others may beg to disagree but as a KPOP fan for so long and one who has seen so many groups from the first generation until today... BIGBANG is the group that changed the game for KPOP in my opinion. And there's no one like them. They're not afraid to push the envelope, to challenge the norm and be different. They are trendsetters and icons wherein each member is so distinct. This list about these Kings can go on and on especially with their numerous massive achievements not only in South Korea but all over the world. They are loved by people of all ages - from kids to senior citizens. And even if they are currently on a long hiatus... they're definitely going to come back BIGGER and BETTER. These five men have changed how typical KPOP is and for that, they have gone down in history. And YAAAAAAS Yunyi, you represent all of us VIPs!!!! LOL.

I think a lot of us consider it our "anthem" bc it's what got a lot of international fans into Big Bang and Kpop in general. Between DBSK, Big Bang, SS501, Super Junior, etc, those years were integral to the Korean wave. p.s. I feel like in order to really understand why Big Bang is as big as they are today, you'll need to watch their live performances. In my opinion, their stage presence is unrivaled.

Completely understandable the stuff everyone was saying about both the songs, just disappointing cause I loved those songs and are probably some of the most important songs from my middle school/childhood days. I still sing along cause I know every word without even knowing any Korean. Literally 2 of the most important songs in Kpop history.

I also love how u can always tell who's who. With other groups, sometimes like one stands out and the rest sound super similar. But with big bang, they all have their own distinct sounds TwT

One thing to keep in mind is that these are classically trained musicians. In classical music, everything from rhythm to key signature, to tempo, changes constantly. Therefore, pop music that does none of those things would be considered musically boring. However, that does not make them bad or boring. Songs can be hype af and still "musically boring" (examples include Crazy by 4Minute, Growl by EXO, most BTS songs, etc.)

I just really miss the old Big Bang songs, not that the newer ones are bad or anything, they are all great, but the older songs had a simplicity to them that is hardly possible in today's Kpop. They might not be as "musically interesting" as recent releases, but I actually think that having a clear piano sound is so refreshing when nowadays the songs are all heavily produced and electronic sounding. And I love Yunyi's insight into Kpop, as a long time Kpop fan I'm always a bit hurt when older songs are just put off as "the typical sound from the 2000s". I know that the reactors have a completely different approach as they actually study music theory and know what's musically complex and stuff, but just as a common listener, I'm totally fine with just having a simple tune and melody and letting the singer's voices do the rest.
