This song is the kpop anthem (along with Bang Bang Bang). Taeyang just performed both of these songs at a University festival a couple of weeks ago and the crowd's singing was so loud it drowned out Taeyang's voice. These are current undergrad students who did not grow up in the BIGBANG era yet they knew all the lyrics even the rap parts. That's how impactful this group is...their songs never get old. They are legends, kings, the national artists of Korea, celebrity of celebrities. There won't be another group like them.

Monsta X being considered old kpop is funny to me 😅. I guess , since we enter 5 gen now 😅 3 gen is getting "old" . Anyway BigBang completly changed kpop industry . They brought freedom of creation being the first to make their own music . There isnt any side of the industry they didnt change to the core . The first rapline , the first lightstick, the first to have solo careers and not disband, brought the fashion industry into kpop , made tv shows relaxed . Their story is full if up and down . Fantastic Baby is from Alive album that was released after really difficult times . This is why in MV GDs hair grew long , it waited a long time, TOP is dressed like revolutionary figures , fans fight those who want to stop BigBang music and members are chained and frozen . Alive world tour was the first real world tour by a kpop artist and in 2012 went from Peru to UK . You shoukd definetly see the entire MAMA 2013 performance because is a complete show where members show their individual work and skill. BigBang live is fenomenal and no one can match .

Love BigBang. Thanks. Everyone went crazy to it in the clubs. Even now - you should see video of Taeyang perf it solo at Yonsei (I think) university last week. Party. (Also his eyes nose lips at same gig) It came out several months before Psy's Gangnam Style - but both 2012. BigBang are very diverse in their music genres - check out If You live from Bangkok! I read that the police looking people in black with the "stop music" represented the people that wanted BIGBANG to stop making music. Those in white with (to me) star wars stormtrooper type masks were BigBang's fan group (VIP's) fighting for the music. They and BigBang's music won and the members ended, sitting on their thrones. I also read that some of the visuals early in the mv represented them returning after a while from not releasing music back to being active with new music again. E.g. hair grown long (connected to the power cables in the mv - so recharging?) Historic powerful figures coming alive and leaving the portraits to be active. Coming out of a meditative state, Battle scars and Breaking free from chains. Just speculation though - only BigBang and the director can give us the real low down :) (what TOP was doing dressed like possibly Napoleon, talking to himself dressed as an astronaut represents - not sure - maybe "be strong - ignore haters - get back out there where you belong" who knows :):):)

BIGBANG weren't one of the biggest k-pop groups of that time, they were the biggest k-pop act before BTS and BP took off in 2018 - period. And that in big part due to them starting their milatary services during that time which was followed by Seungri scandal that led to him landing in prison. After this was TOP scandal that was pretty big and even after all this their last comeback in 2022 was on par with "TOMBOY" by IDLE and "LOVE DIVE" by IVE in terms of popularity that year.

This was big internationally at clubs - maybe thst's where you heard it. I read that the mv is about standing up to those that wanted to silence their music at the time. Each members part tells a story e.g. the guy in the picture frames is dressed as various historical revolutionary leaders that fought for freedom of the people. In the end their music wins out against those that want them to stop and they sit as kings on their thrones. There is an exhibition at the V&A Museum in London at the moment. In one of the exhibit rooms they have Fantastic Baby playing in the background and a painted sculpture of G Dragon (one with the really long hair at the beginning) in the centre of the room, with all things relating to him hanging from the ceiling.

Fantastic Baby was such a visual treat back in 2012, and the song's upbeat tune made it go viral worldwide. Fandoms' that stream videos to get millions of views weren't a thing back in the day, so the numbers back then were organic. It was such a hype song. It would play in parties, bars, clubs, stores, etc. el But despite its visually stunning scenes, this MV represents BIGBANG's rebellion against conservative society and a big shoutout to all the V.I.Ps that defended them and stayed with them through thick and thin. As for their comeback, when it comes to BIGBANG, you'll never know what type of song they will release.
