I’d love you to hear Quaragym-ai which has no extreme notes at all. He sung it on an empty stage with a pianist to accompany him. They both wanted to pay tribute to a beloved collage professor who had died from covid. Dimash finds the song very emotional to sing. It is heartbreakingly special. I’d also love you to see his mv of Be With Me which is a pop song with surprises galore. It will show his. Versatility. Loving your reactions..

@@SirHairless Hello dear Sir, I just came back to rewatch this wonderful reaction & analysis! Sharing music and meaningful feelings is my favorite hobby and your channel has been my favorite place for it lately - so, it's a huge pleasure to be here :) Regarding Dimash's popularity in Japan, I think it's still not big enough because when I showed this performance to my cousin and his japanese wife (who is a singer/music teacher passionate about brazilian music) neither of them had heard about Dimash before (they've been living in Japan since 2017 and, just like us, they both loved Dimash's rendition of the classic Ikanaide)👌

@@SirHairless Yesss, it happens the same with me: I always see lots of comments from brazilians on reactions to Dimash but I don't know anyone from real life who knows him before I show him to them... it's a weird thing indeed (and the same happens to other new talented artists too)! I have no idea what is behind this mystery but I'm glad that Internet helps us to find some alike people to share/discover alike interests in this crazy universe of miscellaneous material available. Somehow the music reaction channels on YT seem to own a very powerful/key role in this current scenario (I think they help new singers/bands to find/build/expand their target audience)...

Dimash sang the Chinese version of this song, called "Autumn Strong" or "Late Autumn", on Singer 2017. Some things, like the soprano passage (except for a different last note), were in that version too, but the lyrics are different. That performance was the first time he had sung in Chinese to a Chinese audience. See the video "Dimash translated : the true story behind "Autumn Strong" with English Subtitles" for a version of the story behind the song, on Gloria Wu's channel (G Wu). Maybe for copyright reasons, that video is slowed so the song is a semi-tone lower. He ends that performance much like he did 2 performances later on "Adagio" (but more beautifully ?). Check that version out - I think it was his most emotional performance of the competition.

Great reaction! Kōji Tamaki is a Japanese singer-songwriter of Ikanaide and Dimash performed a previous version in Chinese called Autumn strong kzread.info/dash/bejne/eIyFl5qOXajKlMo.html this song is based in a true story about Yoshiko Yamaguchi who was born in China, hid her japanese heritage under a chinese name, became very loved. After WWII, her heritage was exposed, she was arrested, accused of being a japanese spy, and sentenced to death. She was ultimately cleared of charges, but was advised to leave the country, as she risked being lynched. Dimash is a master of the story-telling, his voice makes you feel deep emotions and takes you there where that song happened. Beautiful!! A Japanese reactor mentioned that his softness with the hard consonants is a function of how well Dimash understands and has learned the mechanics (tongue and jaw placement) of the Japanese language. It's something very difficult for native English speakers to do. ❤️🎤🔝🔝🌹🌹👏👏👏👏

Each of his performances is a revolution in terms of the way he sings the well-known song or the way he creates his own composition. Something about his voice pierces my soul as well. I think it's probably his ability to marshal every ounce of his talented being to communicate emotion. If you listen to his interviews, he directs attention away from the notes and stresses the emotional content of a given song as what's crucial to him. It shows, and I suspect it's why he doesn't limit himself to any one genre but instead uses elements of many styles of music to convey the meaning he wants. Thank you for another fantastic reaction/analysis by Sir Hairless.

This is a beautiful song. He sings a Chinese version as well and it sounds just as beautiful. Dimash IS music and he sings to our souls. 5:41 5:42 I can see that Dimash touches your soul, as well. Thank you for your educational reviews! Love the way you explain things. My mind goes completely blanc ,when I listen to Dimash sing. I love how you hear all the aspects of the music, including the instruments. All I hear is his beautiful voice. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the reaction, and I agree it is a lovely song. I like you probably would never have discovered if it wasn't for Dimash. You have to give him credit for picking such a broad spectrum of songs. It is definitely more 'Jazzy' than the original but I assume Dimash rearranged it to better showcase his vocal abilities and took into account it was beamed live to the Tokio Jazz festival.

Did you know Dimash first covered this melody singing it in mandarin? It has slightly different lyrics. If you watch him perform it in his concert in Kiev (before the war); you will hear another special ending, not the humming. At his recent concerts, he asks the audience which version they want and usually ends up doing half and half. He is such a sweetheart.

This is what the poet Goro Matsui who wrote the lyrics for Ikanaide said about Dimash's performance at the Tokyo Jazz Festival. Its taken from an interview with the Dimash Japanese Fan Club “I’ve heard ‘Ikanaide’ sung by foreign singers in their native language many times, but this is the first time anyone has sung it so beautifully in Japanese.” On December 9, Goro Matsui gave a short interview to the DJFC Japanese fan club, where he shared in more detail what got him caught up in Dimash’s performance of the legendary composition: “I happened to find Dimash singing “ikanaide” by chance. The first thing that surprised me was his crystal clear tone and his expressiveness voice that conveys the lyrics of the song. I’ve heard other Asian singers sing “Ikanaide” in their native languages several times. However, even though they all sing great, none of them seemed to quite capture the sound/reverberation and meaning of the original lyrics/words, and perceive the emotions between the lines. In this song, the phrase ~ Ah, ikanaide~ is repeated several times in the chorus. Although they are the same exact words, each line has a different meaning. I feel that Dimash seems to knowing it.” Goro Matsui wrote “Ikanaide” together with Koji Tamaki in 1989. The poet shared that at the time, Tamaki rarely sang the song at his concerts. It took a long time before the singer started performing it on stage again. “This song is very difficult to comprehension like this even for the original singer/composer. I believe to be able to sing this song, you need to have “the time” which is many life experiences to fully express the songs lyrics, not just with singing ability.” Also, Goro Matsui shared that he would be glad to hear Dimash perform some more songs that he composed together with Koji Tamaki, for example, “Anokoro e” (“Back to the time”) and “Friend”.
