CLASSIC SWEDISH CHRISTMAS DIY'S | MY SWEDISH CHRISTMAS CALENDAR #1
Welcome to the first episode in my Swedish Christmas Calendar. In this episode I'll be guiding you through the classic Swedish "JULPYSSEL" or "DIY's". What did we make "back in the days" that are still as relevant today and what are of the old style Christmas DIY's are my favorites?
Hope you're all having a wonderful Christmas and that you like my little Advent Calendar! Until I see you next time (tomorrow that is...)
God Jul! (= Merry Christmas)

Your paper snowflake is lovely. That paper crafting technique has 2 names: "paper filigree" and "quilling."
After watching this video, we changed our mind about buying a toy advent calendar for my 4 year old and baby. I decided everyday that we will bake something or make a decorations handmade everyday. First day we made the orange 🍊 💕 another day we cooked your delicious triple nut cake , yesterday we tried the porridge. Thank you so much it so much better than just buying toys !!!! ✨

Wow I am soooo happy that you made that decision. For a better planet and environment, for your baby giving you and her memories (well maybe she is too young to remember) but somehow I do think we give our children values even from the start. I think that sounds like the best Christmas ever and I couldn't not be happier for you guyes!

When my daughter was little, I made her a Saint Lucia outfit for Christmas-hair so blonde it was white, eyes so blue the whites were blue, long white dress, white baby’s breath halo & red ribbon! Her “Anderson” relatives loved it!! And now she’s dating a young man whose family is from Sweden, I need to find the pictures!!! He has seen her at her best, white hair and all.....her hair is reddish now, but her eyes are still blue. And I make those quilled snowflakes!!!! I love quilling!!! I never realize it was Swedish!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!! Can’t wait to do these with my grandson!!!
I remember doing the orange and clove one with my grandma when I was little, and to this day, that wonderful smell reminds me of her.
I lived in southern Sweden for 5 years and found the way Swedes decorate and celebrate Jul so meaningful. We have adopted many of the Jul customs in our home in the United States. Thank you for your beautiful videos. Jag känner mig ”sverigesugen”. I know that’s not a real word, but it kind of sums up how much I miss Sverige och hur mycket jag älskar Sverige.
Like it when so one so young says “back in the day”. Makes an old man smile.

I may be only 1/4 Swedish, but this still made me tearful. My mother did a few of these decorations for Christmas. Thank you. ❤️
I do love all seasons but l am a winter person because of the tranquillity and because of cross-country skiing and how relax you get after a day in nature in the cold ,nothing better, yup nature is beautiful in all colors but she's especially gorgeous in a white dress! 🌲❄⛄🌲❄🌲😌👌
iam a new follower and am so happy i found you. its so heartwarming to find suggestions that dont revolve around commercial ideas and consumerism. this yr ( 2019) i will use your ideas. thank you from a united states subscriber. blessings.
I just put cloves into my orange last night. I love learning about different Christmas traditions around the world, especially in Nordic countries. Merry Christmas!
I made the Orange and clove as a child in elementary school growing up in Alabama.
Your ideas are nice, thank you. I miss painted wooden horses as in Dalarna. I painted a few horses in rainy and foggy November while visiting a friend of mine in southern Sweden. I gifted them to my kids and special friends to Christmas.
I’ve decided to watch your videos this year as a replacement for an actual advent calendar for myself. I don’t want to have sweets every day and have enough things already so I thought these videos would be a lovely alternative 😊

I love your videos. The fragrance of oranges and cloves is called 'pomander', very fragrant and wonderful.
In Poland we have similar traditions😊orange with clove we put on xmas tree sometimes or just leave on the plate somewhere. We put on appels on the xmas tree also and a lot of sweets as well😁 When i was a child we alyways make xmas paper decorations at school ,paper chains, angels etc Also we put under the tree miniature of Christmas Nativity scene...the shed when Jesus was born. We have a lot of beautiful xmas traditions, but many people r too lazy now to carry on😔 Anyway I wish u all the best,a love to watch beautiful swedish village under the snow❄☃️🌨it melt my heart 🥰
Those snow flakes made of paper is the art of quilling
Watching in 2019. Thank you!
My mother gave me a continuous love of Christmas. This vlogs are just wonderful.
We need to go back to all of these editable and paper decorations as opposed to plastic and glittery ones! Decorating the oranges like that reminds me of Christingle that I did a few times with my church when I was younger!

As children we would make the cloved oranges .....covering mostly the whole orange with cloves. After several months, the orange would be dried and would smell so wonderful. We would hand them in our closets amongst our clothing.
I love the way you decorate your home for Christmas!! So natural, not commercial!
I love your country and your beautiful house!, is amazing!! Kisses from so far......Argentina , South America!! 🤗❤️
My Swedish Grandfather would always make "Glugg" for Christmas Eve celebrations (70 years ago). A tradition we continue to follow even today (usa).

@@HisameArtwork We would cover the entire surface, leaving just a clove-width of space btwn. each clove. The orange dries out slowly, becoming dehydrated. You then hang it in your closet or bathroom for a wonderful fresh aroma. U never eat the orange.
love this video!💝
