Yeah I'm a DA. Figured that out eventually. Still, makes you wonder why in the world they didn't use a standard bolt like they do on a vehicle. Is there a good reason to use NTP on a oil drain like this?

@@ImpalamansGarage The reason they used an NPT is simply economics. It's cheaper to use a standard NPT thread bolt than a machine thread with a copper washer.
The end of your dipstick is missing I have a sister generator and that line that you can barely see is the full mark and there is a add mark like 3/4 in lower and then a a round tip for easy insert

A friend of mine told me the same thing. LOL.... Don't know what I was thinking that day. I ordered a new dip stick and still has not arrived! Supply chain is terrible these days.

I have a newer version of your generator that was pulled out of a red cross relief truck. Doesn't look like much has changed. I'm trying to figure out if I can use it as a standby generator, but not having luck finding information.

@@BrokeWrench The operations manuals are floating around on line. I assume you are talking about using it outside of the vehicle. These things are water cooled so keep that in mind. Might offer some challenges.

@@ImpalamansGarage thanks, I've gotten it running and it generates power, but everything electrical was just cut out of the truck, so I have no idea about the transfer switch or anything additional that might have been used
