They had to kill off Alicia. Sarah Carter was stealing the show. She was so much more expressive and charming than other love interests in the show that it was throwing the plan out of wack. I would watched the show more if they had developed her character rather than killing her off. She was really my favorite character.

It feels mean, but I don't think Kreuk had any sort of romantic acting gene. She just never seemed in love with anyone on the show: Whitney, Clark, Lex, the Magnet Guy from Air Bud, nobody. I mean her being in love with someone was the writers telling her to say "I love you."

she made a reappearance and even seemed to be OVER her craziness but (spoilers) they had to kill her off bc of crappy plot point. These two had amazing chemistry in every scene they were in to the point watching them interact akwardly makes me smile to this day, i wish they wouldve done better with this set up

Cause the writers realized that they had a better relationship than Clark and Lana and that wouldn't work cause even though they go a complete different direction with the mythos they for some reason felt compelled to at least keep the Clark/Lana story which sucked anyway.

She is beautiful and I love her voice.

She died of the dangerous disease called people liked her more than lana. I really hated when they killed her and was never mentioned again as if it never happened. I think other than Lois she really got Clark more than anybody else and tbh her character was more interesting than Lana.

@@alexwalkergaming The WB and later CW had a running thing where they needed to have their main character be in a love triangle for some reason they did it on a lot of shows and even some of the newer ones I am guessing some executive higher up thought it added a level of drama that would draw people in but in reality was cringy a lot of times.

Yep, that disease was seriously contagious on this show. I have nothing Kristen Kreuk, but I felt like they found every hot actress in LA and Canada to be on this show, and many of them had more chemistry with Tom Welling in 10 seconds than Kristen did in 10 episodes. Sarah Carter was at the top of my list that first season; what a waste! I'm glad they brought her back a few times, but I always thought it was 100% clear that in terms of on-screen performance, "Alicia and Clark" had TONS more chemistry than Lana and Clark ever did.

@@AndrewJamison79 Yeah, Kristin* Kreuk was a good actress but she and Tom Welling had very little chemistry on screen. I just never bought into her "loving" him at all. Welling did a good job seeming infatuated, but Kreuk didn't even seem interested when they were dating on the show. She always looked like a lost puppy. For me, Smallville really jumped the shark when they killed Jonathan Kent. I bought the first 5 seasons on DVD and even though I really like Lois, I really couldn't deal with Lex and Lana being a couple, Jonathan Kent, a true paragon, being dead for no reason other than what seemed like budget cuts, and changing the show into a pseudo-Justice League with Oliver Queen being the least likable "hero" on the show. Bart wasn't that great, but at least I didn't want to punch him in the face every time I saw him. This show went on for 10 seasons when it should have been on for 6 at most. No amount of new eye candy could make up for the lame plotlines. They had a hit show and couldn't bear to end it until they started losing money, and the show suffered for it.

The music in Smallville gives me nostalgia goosebumps everytime.

In one scene, they wrote a better relationship than they ever did with Clark and Lana. 😂

Yes Alicia was kind of obsessed and crazy in the beginning but when they brought her back for the next season she was actually way better and I hate that she died, Clark and her were actually really adorable and they understood one another

She's STILL this fine now! This woman is gorgeous

God... writers what the hell is a matter with you?! Did this take away from your Lana time?! Clark & Alicia should've been together at least for one season. Aside from Lois, she's the only one who ever really got Clark. I can say the same about Chloe. Man, it just makes me sad knowing that these two never really got a chance to be together.

i hated the whole lana relationship. idk if its bc the actors had no chemistry or if it was just bc lana was just annoying as a character and i couldnt understand why clark was so hung up on her. What sucks is in season 4 alicia comes back and seems to be over her crazy town problem so i wish they wouldve done more

That expression at 1:35 is just outstanding and years later has me coming back to this show. I understood the meta and it's Clark/Lois, but damn....I wanted them together. Sarah has such screen presence it drives me crazy!

Alicia should have just gotten her own spin-off. She deserved far more than the show gave her and it'll always bug me is that *Alicia* was the one to FINALLY get the ball rolling on Clark's journey into becoming Superman via telling Chloe the truth and she NEVER got any credit. She left the show with arguably the biggest impact and she got zilch.

Aw Clark looked so adorable in this 🥺

You know, they could've let this go on for like a season or two, at least till Lois showed her feelings for Supes or something

It was because the original producers of the show were utterly obsessed with Lana and the actress who played her. It was creepy. The only reason they portrayed Alicia as a psycho who was obsessed with Clark was to make Lana look better even though she wasn't.

Damn, I really cried when she was killed... she made her best to recover up, to amend things and be sane to live the life she never could... And Clark actually liked her, they deserved more time together.

So here Tom Welling looked 17. And fifteen years later he now looks 50.

Kind of sad how Alicia's story ended. She was genuinely trying to turn her life around and be a better person. Then, just like that, she was killed. Really, very sad.

This would have been a fantastic relationship. Chemistry 💯

She really had no reason of going crazy like that, he wanted to be with here anyway so if she just took things slow like he asked they would of ended up together and her obsessing also ruined it because things were better when no one knew about her power too, because that way she wouldn't of ran off in season 4 (Pariah), revealed Clark's power and went off by herself to get caught and killed (even though her death was the dumbest thing ever considering the fact that she could teleport).

I'm going to say this respectfully as a 33 year old man who started watching Smallville from season one to its finale. After the shows love affair with Lana Lang ended it became a whole lot better to me. Erica Durance was cast perfectly as Lois Lane as she had the looks and individuality that made Lois Lane a strong minded woman who could challenge Clark Kent. The Lana Lang/Clark Kent dynamic should have ended a season or two before it actually did, not trying to throw shade at the actress who played Lana Lang or anything but her stay in Smallville was a couple seasons too long.

The rumor I've heard is that the writers and producers were so enamoured with Kristin Kruek, they felt like Tom and Sarah's chemistry was just a bit too strong and decided to finally kill her off to put an end to things. Idk if it's true or not but in hindsight it's definitely plausible, these two seem to pop in their scenes together and I remember personally being tired of the Lana drama.

@@HazelAmarie Yeah and Clark and Alicia were supposed to only be a one shot, meteor freak of the week type of thing but Sarah/Alicia was so popular with the fans, they brought her back again. Hot stint it may have been but it was a welcome break from the Clana melodrama and I say this as someone that's actually come around on Clana and like the pairing now.

She is one of those crazy girls you want but dont take home to a family dinner.

They missed a huge opportunity by not trying to hook them up.

That was so touching and perfect. Just showing how 2 kids who feel like outsiders find a common bond that could've lasted their entire lives. So sad how it ended. I feel their connection was better than Lois and Lana.

No, she was meant for a single episode and was brought back by popular demand. Then they decided to use her for the Chloe exposition. They killed her off because she and Clark were too good together. With her around it would be the end of the Clark/Lana drama and the Clois thing would never start.

I hate how they destroyed their relationship, they was so great together ! Just to stick with Lana or Loïs they did non-sense to some good things like this.

I think a better story for the meteor freaks would have been better if they took the mutants route. Where the public is genuinely afraid of them because a few unhinged ones attack people. This would cause the good ones to stay in hiding.
