Thanks, Pete. Share away on Facebook. I had to start on Facebook this year because the video was in KZread jail for 10 days because they thought the Beatles parody song was real Beatles. Ironically, I found the song on KZread. I may be visiting Jacksonville in late June to attend a Dept 56 collectors (and model train) convention. Merry Christmas to you & your family.

Thank you for watching. The houses are mostly Dept 56 & Lemax & a few other brands, in model railroad scale they are o-scale. Typical size would be 5" to 9" wide and 5" to 7" deep. The figures are the same brands but they are closer to g-scale, about 2.5" to 3" high. The cars & track are Bachmann Williams E-Z Street and K-Line Superstreet, which are compatible.

You can still get Windows Movie Maker Live for free as a download www.minitool.com/moviemaker/use-movie-maker.html I haven't found anything I like better, especially for the panning (Ken Burns) feature.

Just loved this village, the music and especially the figurines. Where on earth did you get the Beatles figurines?? Really all of them, just awesome.

Thank you for your kind comments! All of the singing groups are Lemax figurines, except of course the Beatles who come from littleleadsoldiers.com, not inexpensive. They have several versions and the size fits with Lemax and D56 figures. The hippies are g-scale figures -- I've only seen them once. The Blues Bros are o-scale figures -- I've only seen them once, too.

I also enjoy all the slug bugs

John, I bought them on eBay a couple years ago. They came boxed with the police car. They're more O-scale size, so I have to be careful to NOT place them near a standard Lemax or Dept 56 figure. P.S. They were rather expensive! Merry Christmas to you and your family!

This is amazing. We watched it at our club meeting today, and it was so fun. I went to your seminar in Cincinnati and loved it. I even tried my hand at a video this year too. :-) We were wondering where you get your figurines and what brands are they? We also don't quite understand how to find music that is allowable on Facebook. Could you help us there? Thank you!

Lisa Remy Most of my little people are Lemax, with occasional D56. I’m guessing you’re asking about the Beatles - they come from littleleadsoldiers.com from France, and they’re a perfect size. The Blues Brothers came with the police car & are o-scale (1.5” tall) so they have to be placed away from the general population. Facebook is far friendlier than KZread about music choices. In the Description section use my exact disclaimer. I was in KZread “jail” this year because the copyright bots thought the Beatles parody song I found on KZread was the real thing. It took 10 days for a human to read my dispute & release the 2019 video. Generally you’ll be okay if you choose obscure songs or obscure artists. Thanks for watching!

How did you hook up the Mac Donald’s to light up? I have that, only the wiring.

The wiring hookup was model railroad old-world complicated, because of the activation switch that moves the car through the drive-thru. It requires a model RR transformer for power. Even with the short instruction manual I had to ask a few questions of a friendly railroader, and it took 3 hours to run and hookup the wires. Did yours come with an instruction manual?

Thank you for watching! The song is "Back in the Christmas Groove" by The Beatniks. As soon as I heard it I knew I wanted to dance with my granddaughters in the video. That song & the Beatles parody song set the whole theme for the 2019 video.

In 2014 our then 3-1/2 year old granddaughter announced that this was HER Christmas Village, hence the name - Claire’s Christmas Village. Grampa doesn't argue.

The sky backdrop of the village hides my wife's large closet for switching seasonal clothes. So, the closet isn't released until about Nov 1st. We try to be ready for family viewing (and other Christmas decorations) at Thanksgiving. Conversely, the village has be down to reveal the closet by late March.

I am looking for African American figurines. I like the do-op guys. Can you tell me where you found them or the name brand? I love your village. I am a newby!

Thanks for watching. The Afro-American singing group is Doo-Wop Christmas, Lemax #92364, issued 1999, retired 2011. I use them almost every year in a variety of vignettes.

Thank you for your kind words. I watched your video in its entirety. You have a marvelous and large village display and I loved the music and title/credits, but it was hard for me to see anything in detail due to the low lighting, the snowfall effect and the carsick flyovers. I'm now more inspired to make a how-to-video-your-village video. Viewers respond best to vignettes and close-ups of people and scenes. I try to do some short video clips and close-up pictures after completing a section of the village, especially the sections which will be farthest away. Sometimes a selfie stick can reach back there. Shoot a blend of high (overview and flyover), medium (rooftop or second floor height) and low (people level) clips and pictures. Use lots of ambient light (with village lights turned on) -- minimize shadows. Use mostly low and medium shots in the big video. Use the snowing effect, while cool looking, sparingly -- it obscures detail. Use night time or low light shots sparingly because it obscures detail -- unless you want to show lighting colors and light effects. You have video editing software or an app, a mix of stills with shorter video clips would help the viewers see more. My first few videos were nowhere as good as your first one!
