    When raising local army you can stop gathering more and head right to the target, usually get there before the enemy can gather and wipe them before you even siege

    Great point! I do this when I have enough Men-at-arms to easily crush the enemy army. Since they raise instantly, I can just jump on the enemy and wipe them out and start sieging the castle. You definitely don't want to wait to raise over 100k levies when attacking an enemy who only has 5k.

    Do you lose the perks you unlocked from a lifestyle focus if you switch to a different focus after the 5 year wait period?

  • @DoctorJefe

    @DoctorJefe

    3 жыл бұрын

    No, you keep all the perks you unlock. This is true even if you switch to a completely different Lifestyle (ex. Diplomacy to Martial). You only lose the benefits of the focus when you change to another focus (ex. Medicine Focus in the Learning Lifestyle gives +1 Learning and Small Health Boost which you would lose if you switch to Wealth focus for +10% monthly income).

    How did you manage to get that amount of renown?

  • @DoctorJefe

    @DoctorJefe

    3 жыл бұрын

    High renown is gained primarily through family and marriages. 1. Most marriages are for alliances. Try to get as many matrilineal marriages as possible (2nd/3rd sons are a good target). Those kids will be of your dynasty. 2. Marry your kids to rulers. Marriage to a ruler gives you renown (The Doge of Venice is usually available) 3. Unlocking the Blood Dynasty Legacy makes it easy to have lots of good congenital traits in your dynasty. Your family members will marry more easily, survive illnesses, and have children. 4. Give lands to dynasty members. Just as powerful vassals will conquer weak neighbors for you, they will also marry their children in advantageous ways to gain you more renown. 5. If you have an Intrigue focused character, you can set up marriages where your dynasty will not inherit, then murder all their heirs until your grandchildren will inherit the kingdom/empire.

    The first two legacies for glory and kin also work very nicely with blood. Would you recommend getting those and (warfare 2) before any level 3 one?

  • @DoctorJefe

    @DoctorJefe

    3 жыл бұрын

    Now that Renown per living Dynasty member caps at +2.00, having a huge Dynasty isn't as much of a priority. I agree that Blood and Kin synergize nicely in helping to create very strong Rulers. The bonus from Glory is nice, but I'm not sure how much it helps other members of your Dynasty get good marriages. Mostly it seems they get good marriages from their rank (Duke, King, Emperor) or their good traits - which suggests investing more heavily in Blood.

    Holy Wars + Lots of Siege Weapons = Fast Expansion Also setting Crown Authority to 3 allows vassals to focus on conquering foreign lands rather than each other.

    Hello there. I do agree that strong blood is, well, strong. Lol. Even bastards at some point can have all conginetal traits!. Now if you're interested, how can we revive hellenism with or without cheese? Because as it is right now converting to a dead religion costs +500%piety! Also, converting to a different religion family also costs +200% piety from the base of 9900 piety. So total cost would be around 80000piety! This is not including converting from an organized religion would add the costs +500% more! The cost can add up to 130000 piety. I know that apostate in scholar tree reduce conversion cost by 75% and owning stonhenge also reducing comversion cost by 20%. But i don't know wether two of thoose are addition or multipiclative. I watch a youtube video where byzantine emperor converts to norse pagan and gain piety by executing people! But the conversion cost is still 32000piety!

  • @DoctorJefe

    @DoctorJefe

    Gaining the Cynical Trait gives an extra -20%, but that Piety cost is huge. Gaining 5000 to Mend the Great Schism takes half a lifetime. Fervor difference also helps, so it seems like switching to a low fervor religion is a must.

  • @teambellavsteamalice

    So you switch twice? It wouldn't make sense to pay a +200% or +500% cost If you can first convert to something that is already close. Then reform that religion to what you really want? I also want to have a witch coven and convert everyone I can. Mostly because I think it's cool, but it might help getting solid relationships with non vassal independent dynasty members. It may also be used to weaken enemies as with lots of faiths it gets them in trouble. Would you recommend this, or is it very slow and hard to convert a significant amount of people to witches?

  • @DoctorJefe

    @DoctorJefe

    3 жыл бұрын

    I believe Hellenism is it's own Religious group, so there is no similar religion to switch to. It would definitely be cheaper to just reform the religion into something that has the same tenets as Hellenism, but there is some nice flavor to restoring the Roman Empire and re-instituting Hellenism as the state religion. Witch Coven is definitely more beneficial now that the 1.1 patch fixed the Hold a Grand Rite decision. It depends on how big your House is (not your Dynasty) for how big a pain it is to convert enough people to witchcraft. Make sure to mentor all your children as you get a chance to convert them to witches (also you can make sure they aren't zealous, which is a huge negative modifier to accepting witchcraft). Also try to convert as many young people as possible. I thought it would be easy, but it did take over an hour of concentrating on converting people, and to succeed and find the Grand Rite decision was broken was a huge let down.

    @@DoctorJefe Wow, reviving hellenism sure is a challenge. For witchcraft maybe it's faster to start with a religion that accepts it, I believe some in africa do. Also breed lots of children and after they are witch marry them off? If you marry matrilineal, does that make the children your daughter's faith and does that have a chance to convert others when independent? I had an idea to make a Zensunni faith (from Dune), a mix of Buddhism and Islam which could be made from either, right? That would be cool if that could spread like a wildfire in both the south and the east.

    When I created a Witch's Coven I did it with a Catholic ruler. He had high Learning, so converting people wasn't a problem even though Catholicism views Witchcraft as Criminal. I don't know this for sure, but it does appear that children inherit the Faith, Culture, and Dynasty of the father in a regular marriage and of the mother in a matrilineal marriage. Sounds like a cool faith. Unfortunately you can't have religious pressure spread like in Civilization games. You basically need to spread your religion at sword point.

    By all means your Kingdom can be mid-game! It depends what the end goal of your playthrough is. Mine was the super large goals of uniting Catholicism or reforming the Roman Empire. If your goal is to form a stable empire, having a little Kingdom can definitely be mid-game!
