I've gotten REALLY into this game in the past month. One of the best things about the game is how good the script is at creating random terrain. The map often has peninsulas, mountains, waterways, and hills that create important strategic chokeholds. The terrain is often very relevant for tactics and where you should defend or expand.

its very interesting having a deck builder where you can just trash a card at any time and even get resources for it

This is just awesome. By the way, I am not surprised on how many games exist because of you teaching people game development. I also learned Unity watching your videos. Cheers from Germany.

Wow, lots of games that combine board game + deck building. This looks promising!

It is small but the complexity of choices is high. Memorizing which cards derive from a tech or civic is needed to make an informed choice. You don't hold a 'hand' in the traditional card playing sense. In most card games you play out of your hand and your hand continues to the next turn. In this game all cards are played, burned, or returned to the deck every turn. This took me a bit by surprise. This means every turn is all or nothing. You can't hold cards to use the next turn or the turn after that. Not sure if I totally like that. Makes the game more tactical, less strategic.

You can hold cards for next turn. Just need a warehouse/resource slot for it. Click card then hover your resource grid.

This is a very, very good game. I am playing this very heavily. Don't be afraid to sacrifice cards, to get to better military units.

Also don't sleep on early scouts. They can claim tile's resources for one or two hammers once per turn even if you don't own it.

A tip for any new players, Granaries are great and only burn that card if ypu either have to or have already built em in your major cities

Also dont burn techs themselves- you dont want to get locked out of better things

Best things to burn: old weaker units, buildings already built, improvements already built, wonders that you aren't going for, and weaker promotion cards. Almost always try to burn at least once per turn to get science and hammers.

"Boxing match in a phone booth kinda vibe" Thats a sentence if Ive ever heard one. Also this game seems more akin to the earlier Civs. Yeah its hexagons, not just squares, and strategic resources. But theres something there, maybe the simplicity of it?

I suspect a lotta people playing this are going to treat it like Civ with cards. And in doing so overlook many of the possible moves available that don't exist in Civ. 😅

Research is more strategic in this game, you don't want to research too much or your deck will get to big, which means the card you're looking for is much less likely to come up, so you want to avoid researching everything.

@FreshlyBakedLePain fortunately you can always redraw hand for 4 gold if you don't play anything yet. Then spend 2 gold to draw extra per card.
