Civilian Legal Flashbangs: IWA flashbangs vs TAGinn comparison

So I finally got my hands on some of these civilian legal flashbangs by IWA international and TAGinn. I wanted to try them out and compare how these two flash bangs going off sound and whether they are worth it.
The IWA flashbangs are civilian legal and go up to 124 db. I think that's pretty good for a civilian flashbang. That's until I tried the TAGinn, which are marketed as flashbangs in airsoft. I was surprised how this thing can be used as an airsoft granade.
That one goes up to 140 db. You can see my reaction to these flashbangs going off in the video and make the decision for yourself.

Hey! You have a great channel name, it sounds like you have connections in the tactical world and the biggest thing is that you have the energy and charisma to be VERY successful on KZread!!! My advice to you: -keep more to yourself. We don't know, or really care where you are, or why you have a gun. Everyone on this channel will be in support of you carrying, anyways. -when doing a presentation on products, keep it short and sweet. Don't lose that energy, though. Maybe throw in a relevant joke if you can. :) -get good at editing, and post 2-3 times a week. You will be a KZread star soon. If you do these things, and learn as you go along you will become very popular. Remember me when you do, lol.

Just some helpful info. I was in SWAT for several years and can tell you this: 1. First prep the grenade ring and cotter pin. Before you anticipate deployment, pinch the wings on the retaining pins from its 90 deg angle to a flatter position so u can pull the ring smoothly. 2. Make sure the safety spoon rests firmly against the web between your thumb and index finger. DO NOT grasp it with your four free fingers; u can have an accidental discharge. 3. DO NOT throw the ring away. Keep it in your free hand in case you abort deployment and need to re-engage the safety spoon.

And for those who don't know: An increase in decibels is a logarithmic increase and not just a flat number. 124dB comes out to about 32PSI for sound pressure. 140dB on the other hand is 200 PSI. You're looking at an almost 7x more powerful bang out of the TAGinn. Most gunshots are between 140dB and 165dB. 85dB is what's considered hearing safe. You let one of those TAGinn's off indoors and whoever's unlucky enough to be in the same room as it is probably going to be throwing up. Also, I mean the thing looks like an RGD-5 frag grenade. If you wave that around to someone who wants to start trouble you're gonna make a lot of people cut and run instantly lmao

Pro tip, always hold the spoon with your thumb. You want the most contact of the hand with the body of the device. If your left handed hold it upside down. Insert finger up or down through the loop, make a fist. Rotate and break connection by pulling across your chest to separate the pin from the device. Aquire target. Strike a pose. Throw. Get behind cover.

If real deal Flash bangs are 170+ and you wanna know what they're like, try firing an AR pistol, something like a 10.5 barrel. Put a muzzle break on it and shoot it under cover at the range. It will probably permanently damage your ears if they're un-covered. Or, you could do the same thing in an indoor cinderblock room. I had a gun recoil and knock my ear protection loose and I absolutely damaged my hearing I. My right ear permanently from 1 shot at 170+ in that room. ;)

Acoustic sound levels, measured in Decibels ("db"), are a logarithmic scale. Each time a sound’s decibel level increases by 3db, its acoustic energy intensity doubles. The decibel scale is not linear. Therefore, a sound level increase of 10 dB sound is 10 times more energy, a 20 dB sound level increase is 100 times more energy, and a 30 dB sound level increase is 1,000 times more energy. If the grenade labels are true as to the IWA = 124db and the TAG grenade = 140db, the resulting difference is 16db. The TAG grenade is, therefore, 40X louder than the IWA based upon acoustic power calculations. I wrote a Microsoft Excel calculator using the logarithmic formula for it: Decibel Change Calculator Enter Sound Level 1 140.0 db Enter the Higher db Value (TAGinn) Enter Sound Level 2 124.0 db Enter the Lower db Value (IWA) Gain/loss 16.0 db Difference in db Sound Level 1 has: 39.81 X Approximately 40X more sound energy than sound level 2 It was no wonder you flinched at the TAG grenade. You upped the acoustic energy level by 40 times over the IWA the moment you tossed it. By the way, even short term exposure can cause permanent damage. 140db is the loudest recommended exposure WITH hearing protection!

You can always just use a 12 gauge bore thunder rounds as distraction devices. They offer several advantages over even restricted distraction devices, and they're not regulated at all because they're considered ammunition and not an explosive. They're directional, so you can focus the direction of the blast towards the badguy, they work great for breaching windows, and you can load a whole lot more than you can traditional "flash bangs", especially the shorter casing ones. Plus, they're way cheaper. I've used them many times in real world situations even though we had flash bangs in our arsenal (that had to be collected, logged, and accounted for in every instance in case of an BATF audit. Yes, law enforcement agencies still get audited by the ATF albeit rarely). With the bore thunders, we could just use them and eject the empty casing. No fuss. No bureaucratic red tape. Overall, they're better in my opinion. Now, ALS used to make a true stun grenade (which flash bangs are not) that was freaking devastating. Those were sort of a last resort option because the overpressure was such that they would really mess anyone up who was within the vicinity of the blast, but I've only heard of them being used one time in a real life situation on a barricaded subject with an AK, and only after the SWAT teams breach was delayed and the element of surprise was lost. The blast left him deaf and delirious and even knocked the ceiling tile and air condition return vent out from the room he was in. I've had flash bangs go off at my feet with no earplugs in (forgot to put them in) and was perfectly fine, and I've been down the hallway from a room when one of those stun grenades were used, and we had to open our mouths while keeping our jaws clenched to allow air to escape and prevent the overpressure from collapsing our lungs. Those things are awesome!

  • @Terminal-Vet

@@JustIn-op6oy that's exactly what they are, concussion grenades. They're so much more powerful than a regular flash bang. Flash bangs are merely distraction devices meant to distract someone with a loud noise and flash just for a split second to allow for a team to enter and get off the first shot, but the concussion grenades literally discombobulate and completely disorient the occupant or occupants indefinitely. The amount of overpressure is awesome.

@@JustIn-op6oy a flashbang is disorienting for a split second, even one that goes off nine times isn't really that much better. When it went off, it was so loud that the pictures on my wall jumped off the wall and it sounded like it was in my living room. You could literally feel the acoustics or the pressure coming off of it. It was really scary and I was three houses away! I contacted Taginn b4 the start of the war with Ukraine asking if they were affected. In their broken English they said they were going to try shipping more to the US this month(March). Just a few corrections, the IWA m12 single bang are $33 and you can buy up to 27 per hazmat fee of $40, if you buy 12 or more they are $31. The m11 4bangers are $44, same purchase of 27 per $40 hazmat and 12 or more are $42. In my business and recreation I use both IWA and Taginn products and even though Taginn are cheaper per unit they tend to have a higher failure rate in my experience. Not sure why unless they are more mass produced akin to common fireworks. In Taginn's defense they have a great ml36, 36mm grenade launcher system operated by HPA and I rarely have a failure with those rounds. Unfortunately Taginn is not being imported to the USA thanks to Biden's Russia sanctions, no end to that in sight. Both IWA and Taginn's items are made and exported from the UK and Russia respectively, even without the sanctions it is very expensive and time consuming to import this stuff and the hazmat fees don't help. It's a real shame that there isn't an American company stepping up to fill the void.

GIs used to secret a few back to the barracks and set them off in "the D-ring" at inopportune times e.g., when people were lined up at the mess hall.

Exactly! If I had the time, I would rather use one of these to scare it away vs having to shoot it. After all it's their home

The $40 is hazmat fee, it's a federally required fee, and it's per case, you can get up to 50 of the eg67 airsoft frag grenades for 1 hazmat fee, I think the taginns are around the same per case if you order in bulk

The reason they price it like that and shipped like that is to keep people from buying them unless you have a genuine need for them. It's used for indoor use . To shock the bad guys senses to give you the advantage when breaching rooms . It's a tactical tool not for outside use.

Back when the 2nd amendment was written, it was understood & practiced for citizens to have their own war ships with cannons and puckle guns. Again, right to bear "ARMS", not just firearms.

@@michaelvick2872 The AI has been really obvious lately. Always with the general first & last name & letter profile pic. Again, god given rights, not man. Man nor government granted / gave me these rights, therefore no man nor government can infringe or take them away because again, they are not god. God. Given. You can't take away something that is given to us by natural law / gods law. It is something every person is born with, the right of self protection, for if you have no right to protect yourself than how can you claim you are a individual living being with your own conscience & self worth ? If you cannot protect yourself then you are not free not exist, you are less than a animal, which is exactly what the elite think of you Get over it bud

Airsoft definitely is not soft. There have been loads of players that have had to dig pellets out from close hist on exposed skin.
