    Regarding wonders.... I think it's a good idea to always try to go Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. It feels like AI almost never tries to build this, and the yield bonus and extra engineer charges are both great bonuses.

    this really helps thanks I played a game as America and lost because I spawned next to not one but two barbarian camps I set up a city and actually did well I set up another city and was building up culture and made the mistake of not continuously updating my army. barbarians came with knights and cannons and my city was lost I kept trying to get a settler out but they kept getting attacked and I made a plan and succeeded I built a city when my city did not like me and declared itself its own nation so I started dealing with that when Egypt declared surprise war on me brought giant Robo death suits and took over my country. the best game ever.

    After c. 15 cities (on standard map) I feel unless it gives me a strategic ressource I don't have, more cities are relatively useless, they will only eat up my amenities. Personally I find early war on Deity more difficult to pull off than a piecefuly victory. Clearly the best mod is Quick Deals. Agree on the wonders, except Kilwa and the Mausoleum, always get those, but there is no rush, the AI usually doesn't rush them.

    So I win 90% of my games on medium difficulty (still struggleing a bit with the more difficult ones😅) and my favourite tactic is: In the beginning I focus on building as many cities as possible, also concentrating work on producitivity and money. Then I start building wonders in like 3 of my 10-12 cities at once and as many as I can possibly build throughout the game. Worked out great for me, I got the cultural win very fast most of the time🤗 Even with China around;)

    Nice video solid content. Though I wish it wasn't case with number of towns being so important (though I agree you are right) ... makes me sad because if I want to play on bigger map then I have to babysit so many ... it is not even funny. Also it is absolute joke that 2 x POP 1 cities yield TWICE as many merchants as City with idk 25pop no matter what(excluding wonders ). I do think that districts should scale effectivness with pop in the city (sounds really way more natural than whatever we got in game actually). Trade district in frigging metropolis should yield more than one in 1 pop town regardless of adjecency bonuses ffs.

    I've been playing this for awhile now In civ 5 I could win with domination, culture. Science, diplomacy easily. In civ 6 it was a lot harder I find myself being like 3rd or 5th. In a new game I played continents got England was by myself on a continent so I expanded like 5 coties.to find India was with me on the continent. India and America declared war. I took over a city state and one of India cities as a result. Realized no happiness no need to make people really happy. I now lead in science and am trying for a science victory Edit when I logged back on it said I was culturally dominant so I doubled down and won several turns later

    People ask me how the game can be fair with wonders that once you get them no one else can. Almost all wonders can be completely ignored to be honest. Their effects are great but just not worth it most of the time. +15% growth in all cities? +20% science or production in a city? Extra build charges? All these things are incredible! I would want them rather than not want them. The problem is that it doesn’t do as much as one would think. Let’s say someone gets Oxford and Kilwa in the same city with the perfect setup for +50% science in that city and +15% in the rest of their cities. That doesn’t do much good without the good campuses to use the bonus. Even with good campuses, another player in the game can use the production they saved to get more eurekas than you, giving them a discount on upcoming techs, or on builders, giving them a more developed empire than yours, or units, which will take that wonder from you for neglecting your military to focus on wonders. There’s countless interactions like this with wonders. Culture victory is the one where certain wonders like Eiffel or Christo matter the most, and even then there are work arounds every other player can do. You get more tourism from national parks and seaside resorts? Cool, I have all the great writers and artifacts. Just go for what you can get and move on when you can’t.

    So you say Early war is huge, but every time I try to do an early war and take some AI cities I can never hold them due to loyalty, even if they are close to my borders. Do you have any advice on that? This is on deity as well btw.

  • @ness6099

    @ness6099

    3 жыл бұрын

    Here’s a couple of things I’ll list off for you: -governors. They are the most powerful single source of loyalty. It’s great to leave Pengala parked in your highest science city but if moving him somewhere else would make the difference between keeping and losing a city it’s worth it. That’s +8 loyalty, with loyalty penalties maxing at -20. -garrisoning units. Leaving a unit in a city, no matter how strong it is, if it’s a stinger or giant death robot, will give you a loyalty bonus. Combine this tip and the last tip with the policy cards giving +2 loyalty from governors and +2 from garrisons and you’ve got about 14 extra loyalty in a given city. -Victor. He has a promotion to give +4 loyalty to your cities within a tile range. He also establishes faster making him a great way to get a city stronger and have a passive aoe loyalty bonus. -buy/make/repair monuments. +1 loyalty if it’s needed. Every little bit counts. Those were fixing the raw numbers, here’s some other tips: -growth. Cities don’t grow when occupied, but the big thing you want is a food surplus. Starving cities are much more likely to rebel and fed cities are more likely to stay loyal. Also for cities you founded on the border make sure they have a solid amount of population. This will give you much more loyalty pressure in your favor for that area. The population effect reduces in effect the further the two cities are from each other but scale really well the closer cities are. -Amenities. Positive amenities boost loyalty and the opposite for negative amenities. War weariness will eat into your loyalty pressure so try not to push war weariness. You grow war weariness with aggressive causi belli and surprise wars, as well as for each combat encounter with the enemy. -stay at war. Once you have a good loyalty grip, you may think that you’re fine. However, being at war with somebody effectively lets you ignore some of their loyalty pressure. Keep in mind however that war weariness will only start reducing after you make peace, so if it’s a fast war then just keep going until you have all their biggest cities. If it’s a slow war don’t settle for peace until you have a solid grip and a plan to get those cities to grow for more loyalty pressure long enough for war weariness to go away. -golden age. If you are in a golden age you will have more loyalty pressure. If the enemy is in a golden age they will have more loyalty pressure. The AI on Deity will almost all the time have a classical era golden age which means you want to get a good grasp of loyalty pressure before the classical era starts. Otherwise it might be best to simply wait until the medieval era, since even the AI struggles to chain golden ages back to back. -religion. It’s not the best to go for a religion and domination, but if you do you want to make sure all cities you own follow your religion. If you founded the religion a city is following it has more loyalty towards you. If you founded a religion and a city is not following it you get less loyalty. No effects from religion if you did not found one. Most of the time this does not matter but certain civs like Byzantium and Spain can convert cities very easily before/after conquering them so if you have the faith then you can get the loyalty bonus. Other than that, it’s just having enough pressure in the area and keeping pressure from other civs out. Whether that be founding new cities, conquering them, or even raising enemy cities you can’t keep and founding your own where they were just to have less negative effects in a city you CAN keep.

I don't have to steal from others and my neighbors are kinda far from me, so I am like " Ambush war bonus? Brah, let's make some friends and sits there watching them kill each other and sim city as much as I can." Got to say, I'm pretty agree with ur points and keep working on these good contents man. @author - just like they do in real life. And just like in 21st C warfare, all you really need is Air Force, spec ops, and some long range navy. Occasionally something swift for taking cities or survivng raids, but most of the time it's bomb/shell in em into submission and then roll in and hold. There is of course the long range artillery option if they have no military to attack you.

I refused to buy any expansions until GS thinking loyalty mechanics were dumb and just make everything harder. I was so wrong, loyalty mechanics, when used to your advantage, is AWESOME also GS doesn't really add anything... BUT it makes it 5000% more fun. It's really fun playing without in the first place (I never play Apocalypse mode any more and turn disasters down to 1) but the only thing it really adds is Future Age which isn't even entered into in 80% of my games. But it's fun to play the first few times and having the complete set of civs IS great. Just really not necessary like Rise And Fall.

    I mean, the content was quality, but having such a boisterous and grandiose preface claiming "I'm pretty good at the game" and "these aren't tips you're going to find everywhere on the internet" all of the content was pretty common knowledge. I'm not bashing it, rather I'd suggest breaking it down into two videos, a beginner's video and an advanced video. The beginner's video is for those who haven't mastered the game, wherein you share some tips that slipped through the cracks and aren't already overly stated on EVERYONE'S videos, as well as breaking down of all the tips/tactics/strategies, which are the most impactful in every game, regardless of VC and leader kit choice. And on the advanced videos, break down some of the tips that would further improve the gameplay of the Civtubers; aside from the forums, following the videos of Potato, Saxy, yourself and others is one of the primary ways people improve their gameplay (besides trial and error), and watching any one of those videos, I'll see a minimum of 5 things that I see them do (or forget/opt not to do) which would put them in a better position if they did or knew how to do. Some examples for both videos: For the beginner's videos, 1.) emphasize and present the importance and power of trade routes, and explain how to get them and early - having one of the two trade route-generating districts (but not both unless playing Owls) early in the build order for all cities, and passing on the GM's that give gold and envoys to pick up more of the trade route GM's. 2.) explain the relative conversion of yield-to-yield, and explain how production is the king yield in this iteration of the game. 3.) As the most important trick to putting yourself in a winning position is lots of cities and as early as possible (which you touched on), demonstrate the key tools to doing so, namely A.) the monumentality golden age, and B.) slotting in the Colonization card, have EVERY city switch production to settlers, and double the size of your empire, more as the bigger cities will make more than one in this short-term card-min/maxing. For the advanced video, 1.) explain why using the charge of a random eureka GS as soon as you get them is sub-optimal. OMG, I've said this a thousand times and still no one seems to be listening. Yes, with Hypatia and Newton the sooner you use that charge the sooner you buff your science per turn. But there's absolutely no benefit to popping a eureka gifting GS as soon as possible. As most of the Civtubers fail to understand this, they've collectively decided that they are inferior to the likes of Hypatia, and I'm not saying they're better, just that if they used them better they'd get more out of them. Instead of popping a random eureka GS, sit them on a campus and skip turns a bit. In the meantime, look at the two eras that they can impact and pick out the eurekas that you'll be able to get before researching the techs and identify those that you'll want the tech before realistically popping the eureka. Then put a little effort into popping the eurekas of the other techs until the three that you're not going to get are all that's left. And THEN, you activate the GS. It says "random" tech, but by removing the bad options, it isn't really random. 2.) Show them how to use internal trade routes. You take one city to designate as the "tradehub" (I'll often rename it for the purpose.) Then, that city's districts are the government plaza and diplomatic quarter, along with the four production-boosting districts from internal TRs (encampment, industrial zone, commercial hub, and yes, harbor, which implies that the city either needs to be coastal or at least have access to a coast or lake tile.) And then all cities send their trade routes to it meaning that all cities get +3 food and +7 production. As the cities that are closer go for their second trade route round, they've established trading posts allowing the cities that are further away to reach it. And you end up with a great road network to move your troops around your own territory as a fringe benefit. 3.) selling off your redundant luxuries and strategics you don't plan to use. I'll concede that this is something that the pros don't do because it's time consuming and superfluous and they don't need it, and I do the same once I've gotten to the point where I'm going to win no matter what. But in all my games, whether it's with Mansa/Joao or Alexander/Gorgo, I rarely reach turn 100 without having an empire generating at least 300 GPT, and selling these off isn't one of the more potent tricks to doing so, but definitely is great supplementary income.
