A small motor, threaded rod, maybe a 3D printed gear (or jaycar should have something) and a simple frame would work, or go a cable setup and then you could use it on different heights too. Bonus points for a raspberry pie, and a sensor setup keyed for floors so you don’t have to manually turn on and off.

I say do the elevator, but it has to go "Ding!" when it reaches a floor and the doors open. Also- if you use the sprues from all your kits for some hardcore plastic carpentry material, you can increase your square footage by half. Plus it's all so much stronger, angles and joints. Nice work here.

It worked TERRIBLY, contantly getting jammed on the elevator shaft walls, and it was clunky in game, but it was so freaking cool at the time.

Make the 'track' walkable, maybe even have a few mag lev carts on the tracks for movable line-of-sight blocking, etc. The hover train could also be at the height of a building's platform...and that building could have a crane attached to the side, etc.

With a functionally quite similar, but aesthetically very different Infinity modular cyber punk city board project I'm definitely interested to see this one. Obviously all my neon lights are probably not going to have an equivalent, but certainly your making a usable multi story city is going to give me a lot of inspiration, and hopefully highlight a few potential pitfalls I'm hopefully early enough to avoid.

Awesome concept. Too bad the new Sector Imperialis is not available at the moment apart from the Sisters of Battle special Building and the newest additions to this system, the newer Battlezone: Manufactorum pieces are a quick-build variant with very limited options out of the gate (sure, you can cut them apart, but that adds a lot of work they could have spared us).
