How assymetric is it? Is it like Root with different mechanisms of scoring points for each faction? Is it like Chaos in the Old World where there are different mechanisms of scoring points + different win conditions + completely different powers and units? Or is it only variable main powers, and the rest of the game is basically the same like Ankh or Rising Sun? I have yet to find a game that rivals CotOW, assymetry is a key word that makes me take a closer look at a game. edit: found it on TTS, peaked my interest! Seems my cup of tea!

@@LuisJorgeMendoza Every faction has: different ways of scoring points (and thus winning the game), different Leaders (3 unique hero type figures each), 1 unique type of Building (as well as 2 buildings in common), different attributes (unique powers/rules they break), different boards and unique starting conditions. So in that sense, it's probably most like Chaos in the Old World, though I have not played it. It's also similar-ish to Root, but each faction takes actions in the exact same way, and they all interact with the core loop (pricing & actions fueled by their research on the tracks) in the same way. Monique's rules overview is GREAT for explaining generally what all factions have in common. Most of the other stuff is unique.

@@sammacdonald337 thanks! Backed it as soon as I saw the TTS mod and saw that playerboards, troops and attributes were different on every player board. Also , great job not overproducing and not putting massive amounts of plastic in it, maintaining an affordable price!

Thank you so much for sharing the game! I loved your thoughts and impressions. As you know from my video, I had a very similar experience at first - being frustrated at the die and getting angry at myself or other players. It wasn't until I had a much better grasp on the rules and more importantly, the potential for what other players could achieve in combat, that I really started to fall in love with this game.

Thanks for this extremely clear overview and as detailed as one can be, about rules and overall gameplay dynamics! Plus being transparent with your thoughts and feelings on the gameplay... I have already kickstarted it yesterday so I was sold already on the overall design (after the video by Broken Meeples). I want to say as well, as a french speaker, that it's really cool to have a French (and Portuguese) version already included in the crowdfunding process, and publishing companies already involved at that stage, not just the usual "we'll get someone to translate the rules and repackage it for you 18 months after the game is out in English"!

Thanks for checking out our video! Agreed it's really great to see publishers provide various languages. Works very well in this game as most things are left to iconography with most of the text being in the rulebook and player faction aids.

Sounds great! I think "kingmaking" depends on your mindset. If everybody always trying to win and don't give up, you will not have this problem in games. Just don't stop trying, even when it is impossible :D. At least in my gaming groups, this is the best way to avoid bad feelings or any "kingmaking".

Haven't played it yet, but completely disagree with your die comment. I think the die will allow people being crushed to still have a chance at winning combat. Besides, using the die has a price. I've played a lot of games with more deterministic combat and it's kind of boring, to be honest =S. Now, I don't really know if I want a game this aggressive which seems to be a long 4/5 player game.

I've answered this in depth a number of times already, so I'll give you the short and sweet answer: The level of depth of meaningful interaction in this game is so high. It's extremely hard to replicate with a bot. Solo modes for Euro games are easy, since most interactions revolve around some aspect of drafting. Every decision in Chaos Order has so many layers and implications. Not to say that we wouldn't be able to create a bot, but if we were, it would take months, if not years to develop. And even then, we're not convinced that it would come close to what it needs to be, in order to provide the same experience as the multiplayer game.
