Yes I think that does make someone a sexist pig. Does the father forget he had sex with the girls mother years ago, probably unwed maybe and that girls father probably felt the same way many years ago. So the father needs to realize that his daughter is in the same situation that the father was in years ago with the girls mother. And therefore, the father of the girl can't be a hypocrite, since he did the same thing to the girls mother years ago by having sex with her, so it's not fair to target the daughter. Whether it's the daughter or the son having sex, it needs to handled fairly, I'm sorry but it's no different if the son or daughter is having sex, one shouldn't be discriminated against the other. That is sexist. It takes two to tangle whether it's the boy or girl and I don't buy into dad's being more protective of their daughters when they maybe or probably did the same thing to their mothers. That's hipocritical !

Now we are the generation having this conversation with our children and, when we bring the argument about "there should be no sex without love and commitment", the Zen generation look at us saying "How old fashioned..." Looking back as an adult there a lot of double standard between Brandon and Brenda. When Brandon's gf from Minnesota came to visit. Brandon lost her virginity to her. They were pretty chill about it. Despite the fact they literally had in the house right under there nose. They were kinda off and on again. Jim nor Cindy gave him the same speech like they did with Brenda. Brandon was in the same risk of getting her pregnant or STD. While Brenda who has been in a serious relationship with Dylan. They have talk and planned it for awhile. Atleast they didnt have sex in their house. My parents would have been pissed if me or one of my siblings had sex in their house esp if they were home. Since we were disrespecting the house and them

It seems like 90210 brought open discussion about a lot of subjects that nowadays seem so common but back then were still really an issue. Even more so outside of the US. I was in Europe watching the series and it looked like they lived on Mars. My teenage years surely didn't resemble these stories at all. I remember a 90210 storyline about students fighting for sex ed or distributing condoms at school or something like that. I remember the Donna character being the one who would make the epic speech that would convince everyone. Those issues were still taboo at the time.

How old are you? There's nothing wrong with parents actually caring about the welfare of their daughter. This was also the '90s. The '80s was when AIDS became a concern and put a damper on sex. This continued into the '90s. Life can be created by sex. This means that it's a big deal. Even if you think abortion is okay, if you go through with one it can be traumatic regardless. It can affect the relationship you have because of mixed feelings. People should be very conscious about who they are intimate with.
