I can't believe I've seen these engines in hot rods. A true DOHC V8 is badass but Damn they're expensive.

Those are the most beautiful engines ever built. I gotta say, I don't care much for that staggered engine placement, I do realize thats the way it goes. Otherwise, beautiful engine compartment! Also shame they are 200K each. Mercury should have priced them at half that.

Those two engines have more power than six 500 hp outboard mercury, race engines let that sink in. And then there are the 1750s.

It's all about Packaging.. Those DOHC Motors with Manifolds are quite wide.

Marauders are 50 ft long, so you need big power to crack the century mark. I seriously doubt this boat with twins will top out at past 130. That is what the last 2 did at 2017 Miami Intl show.. I know this, as I worked for Merc Racing in Florida(St Cloud) for a while.

Highest recorded speed on a 50 ft Marauder was 143 mph, but most of these can do 130-135 mph

This boat isn't made to be the fastest boat on smooth water is it? Like DCB boats in Lake Havasu? Aren't these for tackling rough water in the ocean like running from the Florida Keys to Cuba or the Dominican Republic?

Eric Johnson the ls7 is a small block. These engines are dohc big blocks. Not ls7 based.

This engine about $ 200 a piece maybe 3 yes?? im not far off for sure. i must say i dont know much ;-) i know i got an outboard 2 hp enigine cost about 10, used that is. i also got a 125cc dirt bike that could outrun this boat easely, if the boat has no gas in it, that is.

Big motors but to unreliable, 1350”s capped out . With such a big stroke same block with smaller boost is the go . Dcb confirms this . Hard to squeeze 3 in but other options available . Maybe 3 years outboards willl weigh less
