    Thanks for the great review Noel. I just bought a 5'8 spine Tek based on the review and love it! Im intermediate and surf generally weak small to medium size waves in the UK, I don't get on with standard shortboards so stick to pu grovelors, I have a lost rnf retro 5'5 which is also amazing, but there's something different about the rocket wide squash than all the other boards I've tried... It's fast paddles great gets in early, feels like it has performance too but yet forgiving and most importantly it's fun and exciting! It's giving me that shortboard vibe and excitement but at my level and wave type i can actually surf and enjoy this board.

    I had my shaper make me a board very similar to this design, it's an absolute beast. In the 2-3ft range I use it as a twin + trailer and it very fast, definitely helps me take advantage of the small wave. 3 - 5ft I run reactors in a thruster setup for extra traction and pivot. Definitely the best board I've ever used in that sort of wave range, very versatile. It's still not quite a pure groveler so for the really small weak stuff it's not perfect and for the bigger days you can get away with it but you'd have a much better time on a board with added rail length and extra rocker. But like I said before, small to medium sized waves are the absolute sweet spot for this board.

    Have a 5'11 RW as my daily driver now. Have a 6'2, 19 1/2, 2 5/8, 33.2L Fever as my HPSB on order based on your reviews. For a step up on surf trips, would you recommend just a larger Fever to round out the RW/Fever quiver? How big would you go for H-DoH surf? Or another board that would be a nice transition from RW/Fever. (6'1, 180lbs, upper intermediate, front foot surfer). Cheers!

    Both boards are epic… that’s a tough choice for me. As a Quad the D2 is silky smooth with excellent speed and flow. I also like the D2 with a Twin + Stabilizer set up… fast n loose. The RW might have a little quicker get up n go and faster down the line especially as a Thruster. I found the RW to pivot quicker in the pocket as a Thruster compared to the D2. If I had to choose one… I say D2

    Hello Noel ! Hope you are doing great. I was wondering what would you say makes the difference between the phantom and the rocket wide squash that makes a phantom a dd and not a small wave performance board ? Thanks ! Is it the wave range ?

  • @surfnshowreviews7777

    @surfnshowreviews7777

    2 жыл бұрын

    The RW might have a little less overhaul rocker so it faster in smaller waves. The RW is also a bit shorter making it a little more maneuverable in small waves. The RW Squash also has a wider tail block so it Carrie’s more speed down the line. The Phantom being a little longer offers more rail line and stability that I like better for 3-7’ surf. I would use the RW Squash tail as my Small Wave Performance board in 1-4’ surf. Then use a Phantom as a DD in 3-7’ surf.

    Hey again Noel. I find info online on flat vs domes deck very confusing. Some say flat deck turns easier. Others say domed deck goes rail to rail easier but wants to keep a straight line. I would have thougj a flat deck would have a thicker rail and wood therefore be harder to turn. Can you explain the difference in terms of how they feel on the wave, specifically doing tight turns and lose vs stiff??

  • @surfnshowreviews7777

    @surfnshowreviews7777

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@nickymarshall4890 Flat decks can have fuller rails and seem to offer a bit more feel on the flex of the board. Bottom contours really help the board roll over on rail with either type of rail from my experience. Tapered rails and domed decks can be easier to bury the rail through big carves but once again the bottom contours play a significant roll on rail to rail engagement.

    @@nicolekelln3031 The RW Squash Carrie’s more speed compared to RW Swallow. I think most surfers will like the RW Squash compared to NB2 as the NB2 is a bit more radical and it pivots faster compared to RW Squash or Swallow. I personally like the NB2 best out of the 3 models due to its pivot and radical speed. It’s boarder line out of control and I like that for my own surfing….. it pushes me to be more progressive in my own surfing. However the RW Squash Carrie’s similar speed, but it offers better flow and a bit more hold and control on rail in overhead surf compared to the NB2.

I am thinking that the same litres as my phantom 28.6 should feel like 1 to 2 more litres in paddle performance because of the shape is this correct.
