Scottish trio Chvrches (pronounced Churches) came into the Moog Sound Lab to re-imagine their song “The Mother We Share” off of their 2013 album The Bones of What You Believe.
Lauren Mayberry sings through an MF-104M Analog Delay while manipulating the filter cutoff on a continuous arpeggiated line with a Little Phatty. Iain Cook uses drum triggers to play percussion with 6 Minimoog Voyager Rack Mounts, and uses a Sub Phatty in the song break. Martin Doherty poly-chained 4 Slim Phattys and controlled them with a Little Phatty as he handled the chords and laid down a bass line throughout with a Sub Phatty.

We are two sisters making music together and we are LIANA. You may like our new single 'I'll Rip Your Heart Out', just give us a chance, we *won't* let you down! Thank you so much for your time.. have a great day^^
When I die... I hope I hear these type of nostalgia-tic sounds and fade in to the universe.

Me too I feel about the same. What a nice thing to leave hearing. Fair point they never let me down. Very funny to me
The song is Lauren's voice, and the music is the voice of all three together. They are a true unit. What music !!!!!
My newborn baby girl loves this song :)
This is the first Chvrches song I've ever heard and it's still my favorite. I love how Scottish it sounds. I guess it's her accent, but I think it's the song too.

Definitely, Scottish soul. It's hollering out of the genes. I hear it in my bones. Bagpipes do it, too. The lone soul standing firm in the mist. The past unforgotten. As the future is certain, no matter the cost.
I knew I liked the song, and I thought it was the melody, but now I realise it's the lyrics and Lauren's insanely angelic voice!!!
It sounds minimalistic and I think that gives this version its charm. I did like the chords on the chorus. Very effective.
Lauren's voice is so brilliant! Especially here!

I know it's nearly flawless. Always love what they do so well. She is such a great human. Incredibly clear vocals and artistic.
I was able to resist to play this track for 1 year now. In a little calm moment, I thought" okay you can't be doomed by listening to it again" - BOOM - another Earworm from this song for the next 3 months in every single minute. I hate you chvrches for making this great music!
That little phatty polychained to the slims sounds.. 'very nice' (Borat voice)
First time listener, long time MOOG fan. I loved this! It's so beautiful, and peaceful. Chvrches has made it to my list of music to get, and I couldn't be more thrilled. Thanks for this video MOOG.
So great. I love these stripped/alternate versions.
I can't stop listen this version. Technique enhancing a warm and soulful performance.

It has to do with chord progressions being pretty different..
Everything about this video is gorgeous.
Chvrches and Moog, my heart is full of love right now
Moog keeps proving how it remains the greatest company in the world. Loved this so much. I just want to go and give my Voyager a huge hug now. Thanks Moog
Lauren es un encanto, tanto visual como auditivamente, escucharlos en vivo es una de las mejores experiencias que he tenido.
This is gorgeous. So much emotion. Lauren's singing is beautiful.
MOOG is the icing on the cake.
Flawless and mesmerising, all three of them.
This performance was amazing. Beautiful layered sounds, vocals were awesome. Everything flowed like water.

Its the sub phatty (silver, behind the guy with a hat on). But its not playing chords, only single notes. Chords are played throughout the song on the little phatty (white, in front of guy with a hat on) with the stack of slim phattys in the background
What a team, you all worked together seamlessly, so cool! Beautiful song.
Iain Cook uses drum triggers to play percussion with 6 Minimoog Voyager Rack Mounts holy!!!
Great song, great band, great performance.
such a great vibe, with the electronics and then that luscious analog voice....fantastic.
出勤中の車内で聴いたら、仕事行きたくなくなる。そんくらいカッコイイ!!
I FUCKING LOVE THIS VERSION
Very musical performance in the Moog Sound Lab. Def my favourite Moog Sound Lab video :-) Well done Chvrches!
Fun fact! The mother they share is actually a Moog Matriarch that the whole band had to pitch in to get their signature sound
Wow. That was lovely!
Best version of this song, IMO

Absolutely lovely!
Ive heard many different versions of this song, all of them brilliant!
I actually heard this version before hearing the released version. I like the production of the released version, but got to say, I think this version edges it for me. This is beautifully appealing in its simplicity.

FUNN!! 4 slim phattys+one little pahtty to make the poly synth pads :) ( 5500 euros ) and 6 mini moog voyager for the drum kit !! ( 18 000 euros ) ........ expensive !

I didn't hear anything that couldn't be done with significantly cheaper hardware. Moog needs to step up their demos and really show off what this stuff can do. Then again they are showing how their hardware can be integrated in such a way that you don't even notice it is all electronic so that is cool in a certain respect. I just spent $1500 on a competing synth because I'm just not seeing any impressive demo's of the Sub 37. I'm sure it is more capable than what I have seen but the other guys had better demo's.

The artists in the lab don't only use Moog gear. They bring in their own too. My guess is the drums arent made with a rack of voyagers. But yes, there is a PILE of expensive kit in that room just for fun!

Buy a Korg Radias for about US$600 after market and you can create this.
