The reason chucky wanted to turn a kid into a killer has to be for a voodoo spell that allows him to be in so many dolls at once. When Junior was beating his dad, each hit made the chucky dolls come to life more and more. Once junior finally kills his dad, they’re fully alive. Even the one in the house with Jake and Lexi, the one that 100% wasn’t alive before junior killed his dad.

Hearing Charles talk as the doll like that was incredible. That whole scene was one of the best Chucky kills ever

Lexi mom might be the worse character so you a mayor and have a serial killer running around, 2 people dead with people mourning and you want to hold a party?

@@jasonvoorhees310 he’s a pretty capable kid actor, I have to say. Especially with these last few episodes where he has to act unhinged. It’s easy to overact a mental breakdown and he’s nailing the very disturbed teenager losing his mind in a grounded way. Switch Chucky out with hallucinations and that’s an unfortunate and very real illness many people struggle with every day. I hope to see more of him in the future because he’s got major potential.

@@jasonvoorhees310 yeah the other kids aren’t that bad but they’re like most other kid actors their age. The kid who plays Junior is leaps and bounds ahead though imo. He can hold his own in his scenes with the seasoned grown folks, for sure. His scenes with Rowan were quite good too.

I think the little black kid is the worst actor out of the cast. He is serviceable but he comes across as bland and emotionless. He really doesn't have much range at all.

So you telling me Junior don't automatically think Chucky killed his mother? You not questioning how there is a alive talking doll and persuaing you to kill your own cousin and that doesn't give you a red flag at all well Junior not all the above at all but It's not hard to figure out.

This was my problem with this episode still great but for me regardless if chucky could persuade junior to kill or junior was already a killer it just doesn’t make sense because junior loved his mom I think him having a conversation with chucky would make it obvious that chucky killed his mom especially cause Lexie told junior chucky was behind the murders he just didn’t believe her idk it just doesn’t make sense I fill like chucky being behind Bree’s murder would be obvious to junior at this point and i would think junior would want revenge on chucky idk

From what I understand. Chucky split his soul into multiple dolls but there was a limit to how many times he could do this. He used a type or ritual: to power up his spell, he needed an innocent to spill blood through murder. Now that the requirement was satisfied, Chucky was able to super charge his spell. Season 2 will probably be him with a new victim of the weak. And I think this will lead to Glen coming back, to stop his father

@@1KQ_ In a flashback he had a book of voodoo that he was reading with Tiffany when they were younger. But it makes sense that hes making horcruxes because the original director wanted to do this earlier but wasn't able to because of the budget

@@danwarner7816 The dolls came to Life while that boy was murdering his father so I think he put his essence into the dolls and now that he's harnessed that energy those seeds have enough spiritual power to come to life

I can't believe Junior killed his father both his father and Jake father are just alike both didn't have a good relationship with their son and both alcoholics.

Well, in a way, Logan was blaming his own wife for "committing suicide" by referring to her as a quitter. And, deep down, all of us knew Junior was Chucky's true protege.

Technically child's Play 3 takes place in 1998. So I don't think the timeline quite works out. Plus Devon's mom would be older than Tyler by quite a bit.

I think Jake’s portion of the relationship is rooted in parasocial connection to Devin through the podcast. So for me it makes sense why he had feels that way he feels. He’s been listening to Devin long before we came into his world. Although family thing did throw me for a loop, i can see her being scared out of her mind being confronted with death more than once by chucky to feel like she needs these to much more than her actual family.

I knew this show felt off. I mean it’s ok but it doesn’t feel like old chucky and the acting or writing is garbage. Also the kills are mostly cgi and looks bad

Can we address that Chucky was singing we got the beat?😂😂 my favorite part of this episode

I think the timeline's a little bit longer than you think- it's been a couple of months, not two weeks. And at the start of the series, Jake already has a crush on Devon. They haven't talked much, but he's already crushing.

Chucky had me laughing when he was like “Get your fucking hands off me” just so assertive 😂😂😂😂 but this episode feels like it went by so fast, felt like a filler episode to get ready for the finale. It wasn’t a bad episode but not one of the best for me. Junior doesn’t work for me as much either, you see this crazy talking doll is trying to get you to kill, talking about how your mom died and you don’t suspect him at all?? He just went along with chucky too quick, well his dad accelerated things but you know what I mean 😂

So much realization in this episode, So much background planning that you can understand without having to watch! chucky planning everything behind with tiffany is brilliant.

That headspin chucky did was my favorite part of the episode, paying homage to when he does it in Bride almost 🤣 also showing chuckys face POV while JR was using him was pretty interesting.

Junior killing his dad was awesome. Chucky just messing with all the kids and the adults has been fantastic. I just hope the payoff ends up being great otherwise I will feel a little let down.

Chucky season finale is gon pull a Netflix original and give us a cliff hanger with 69 loose ends . So frustrating.

One big thing they are avoiding going back to is Chucky's relationship with The voodoo doctor. It was my understanding that The doctor was Chucky's mentor back in the first film.

@@mujiescomedy279 maybe? Although in all the flashbacks he's reading voodoo books where I would think he would have got all his teachings from the doctor. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

As someone who is in 8th grade, I can say, that this friendship would Not happen if there was no doll.

Maybe Chucky has to taint their soul before he puts his soul in their body. Otherwise, they can fight for control because they aren't compatible with him. So he's taking what he has learned from possessing Nica, and now he is trying to essentially possess another killer to see if that works better. Could also just be that he loves the challenge of getting people to be like him.

I don't think this is the case, he was able to take over Alice without a problem. I think it's because she has a strong will. Chucky confirmed he liked being a killer doll in Seed and didn't want to be a regular human

6:38 - that was referring to jake crushing on Devon for ages before the series started. They showed us in episode 1 he had a crush before they ever talked

His plan was revealed in this episode, he needed to use an innocent kid’s dark energy to manifest into other dolls

Why wasn't junior surprised when he walked into room and saw chucky alive, did I miss something?

I think you are right here about most things in this video. The relationships do feel a little forced. That said, there was definitely hints from the first episode that jake had had a crush on Devon for a long time. I think with a little more subtle scripting and better acting it would feel more believable for sure

agreed, but i find episode 3 was shortly on par due to how chucky makes some incredible cliff-hangers and i just love music tying into following week's episode :D

As much as I LOVE the fact that Junior was the one to turn to the “Chucky” side and is starting to become a killer. I feel it could have been teased a little more ( I mean you watch the trailer for this episode and some sneak peaks they practically do everything but spell it out for you). It kinda felt a little out of left field because we haven’t been focusing on him at all. I just wish we could have gotten a little more screen time with him. Because tbh this kinda felt like a plot twist for plot twist sake. ( I really wish there would have been 10 episodes instead of 8 😞)

They hinted at a love triangle of sorts with Jake and Lexi. Obviously it would've been way off but it was clear that he was wondering about the sudden friendship.

I find i weird how they tried telling junior that chucky killed his mom but he didnt stop to think abt it

How'd you feel about Chucky singing We Got the Beat at the end? I honestly thought it was kinda cringe lol. Still enjoyed the episode.

I'm pretty sure Jake always had a crush on Devon before we saw them since he listened to his podcast all the time and was obviously in love and awkward

Chucky won’t end this was the most success show on syfy in years and Andy time is coming to an end and jake is becoming the focus

The teacher wasn’t in this episode. I’m assuming we’re getting a big reveal next episode. Andy and Kyle about die and then the teacher shows up, does an eye twitch, and then karate chops every fucking doll. Lmao

Enjoyed this episode, somethings are a tad wonky with timelines and what not but I'm still looking forward to what's coming🙂 Great video Cody, can't wait for the spoiler stream

The “family” line would have made more sense if we saw the two had a moment bonding over something other then the need to kill Chucky. Stranger Things and It (Chapter 1) worked because the kids have a friendship outside of trying to destroy the monster. Here, while we have a little of that between Jake and Devon (even though most of their initial bonding was over what a piece of trash their new BFF is) but none with Lexi and the other two (except a brief acknowledgement her and Jake are both on antidepressants). What it comes down to is they’re trying to make Lexi the new Cordelia (from Buffy). But it took years for Cordelia to get to the point Lexi’s supposed to be at now, and even at that point Buffy and Willow only “kind of” liked her. I don’t blame the performers. I can’t imagine any actors could sell THIS quick a 180.

Episode 7 was another awesome episode now let's hope that episode 8 will be another awesome episode and not leave us with a disappointment

Respectfully, I believe his wooden acting works for the character. It’s natural that Andy would be a shell of a person with no real feelings at this point. Whatever innocence and emotional capacity he had left after Chucky was snuffed out in military school. I’m not saying he’s Leo DiCaprio by any means, but that’s something to keep in mind.

Why does Jake always have this DUMB CONFUSED look on his face every time there’s a difficult situation at hand for him. He’s only got that ONE dumb reaction for EVERYTHING lol. Am I the only one that’s noticed this?

It feels like I skipped an episode somehow. I feel like when it comes to the plot- so many things have gaps that aren’t explained. Like Junior not questioning Chucky killing his mom. Because it’s inferred in this episode that Chucky may have been talking to him for a long time, because JR knows Jake tried to kill lexi.

Junior accepting Chucky as a talking doll went over very well. Like he was like ok cool. That bothered me. Also Devon's reaction to his mothers death was so nonchalant. But the Junior reveal I saw coming. I really liked this episode tho there's a lot going & a lot of questions. I believe Charles is splitting his soul into dolls through the power blood being spilled through his influence? Like if he used at all to commit a murder his soul can split. The acting is eh from the kids idky Jakes face is always balled up 😂😂 that mess bothers the hell out of me FIX YOUR FACE. I love Jennifer Tilly & Fiona Dourif theyre so awesome

It would be cool to get flash backs of Charles and Eddie doing crimes together, hell maybe have Eddie secretly resent and be jealous of Charles for getting with Tiffany, maybe she rejected Eddie at that club and could be part of why he ditched Charles at the beginning of Child's Play

I felt a bit underwhelmed after last weeks. I'm hopeful they tie everything all together nicely. Was hoping to see more about miss Fairchild.

I don't have an issue with Lexi and Jake's dynamic. Kids can do horrible things to each other and be friends in 2 seconds - that's how kid are. My issue is Lexi's mom comes off very unrealistic. She would at least present to the public that she's caring and then behind closed doors be carelessness.

Loved episode 7 just like the rest I'm excited for episode 8 next week and the final episode of season 1

Last two episodes I could careless for this one won me over again

Very good review. Like your perspective. The character development pacing was definitely off, but just happy to be watching Chucky again.

Im really not digging the flashbacks to 80's Charles and Tiffany. Unless they amount to some big reveal, they are only serving to highlight what we already know about how toxic and unstable their relationship is. Possibly building to another 180 for Tiffany like at the end of Bride. I have always liked how their relationship is an even more twisted version of a toxic one. They are both maniacs so a spat means actually killing each other but death doesnt stick for them so they end up back together. But they've already done it twice so I dont think Id enjoy seeing it a third time.

This episode was crazy!

It really doesn’t make for that teacher to be Glenda, cuz if you remember Seed of Chucky took place in 2004, then the twins were born to Tilly, and 5 years passed (2009) which means that Glenda is 5 years old in 2009, then Cult of Chucky takes place in 2017, which means Glenda is 13, and the tv series only takes place 2 weeks after Cult of Chucky, so that means Glenda is still 13 years old, which makes it impossible for her to be that teacher. Lmao it’s that simple to look at the timeline of this franchise and know these facts.

I agree. Pacing is off at times, and it's hard to tell exactly how long the time this takes place over. 2 weeks? 2 months? I'm still not sure how I feel about multiple Chucky's, i'll have to see how it plays out. I'm glad they stuck to the animatronics for Chucky and sort of went back to that classic good guy doll look, but my biggest complaint is that he looks more like a good guy doll instead of Chucky. In the first film when he started to become more human like, and took on the appearance of Brad Dourif was such a cool design. They kind of abandoned that going forward, but he still looked creepy and looked like how people imagine Chucky in those films. It's a nitpick but I feel like it was a missed opportunity, they should have stuck with Kevin Yagher. Overall, i'm enjoying the show.

Yea, that Lexy "family" line broke the needle on my suspension of disbelief in half. Also, I think the reason why Andy left Kyle had more to do with the fact, that he wanted to take out Chucky and knew that he might die and wanted keep Kyle safe along with trying to make sure he had no connections so he could do what needed to be done

I honestly think he’s trying to add to his legacy, he was an orphan who killed his mom so he’s trying to create orphans who killed their parents so they end up like him he’s creating versions of himself without splitting his soul

Junior killing was like really weird to see. I didn't think he would finish him. Like maybe a coma or something.

I don't know if I was just seeing things but when Chucky was covered in blood at the end, he looked a bit like the stitched Chucky design.

I thought so too. I like to think it was an Easter egg cos I’ve seen a few other people say it as well.

Wait. I thought the show/Season 1 was 10 episodes long and not 8. I could’ve sworn IMDB said 10 episodes along with all these articles I read/skimmed during the making of and when the show was being marketed. Well then, maybe that’s a positive. They won’t really have to drag out stuff for another two episodes. Not that it’s really dragging or anything. But sometimes shows do drag out the main plot of a show or season or even subplots. Plus introduce subplots that aren’t needed and used as filler so they can get to x amount of episodes.
