    When I went to high school in 1978-1981 we all had sweet rides. My 1970 Monte Carlo and my 1970SS Nova with a 327 balanced and blue printed 4 speed 4:88 12 bolt was wicked fast. My good buddy Higgy had a 1923 Bucket T with a Richard Petty 1966 NASCAR prepped 426 H-Bomb ! UN fucking real! He had dual Doms tunnel ram. Triple titanium valve springs and a monster solid lift cam. He would ring that thing 10G's with no float. That thing was un fucking real! We'd be cruising 50 mph going up to the Bend all quiet enjoying the day. There would be 7 cars in front heading to the beach like us. Without any warning Higgy would pull that slap stick back into second pull out to pass with on coming traffic and in one heartbeat we would go from 50 mph to 150 mph and pass all 7 cars with room to spare. The only ride that had that kind of jam was my brothers GT-500. Hemi Trough was through the roof! Inside joke. Well those were the days. Always had a gun with me at school. Good times.

    Nelson has a 441 sbc making 2500hp and 2000ft/lbs, that's pretty impressive. 347HP/Liter. This engine in the vid was prob just a mild set up. I'm sure Tom could get a lot more out of it if the customer was requesting huge HP. I bet this is a very street friendly engine too and went into a street/strip car

    Big displacement engines don't need that RPM to make power. As a matter of fact, they run best at lower RPM, especially if the stroke is long.

    but you need to turbo it to get those numbers, and turbocharging makes it use more fuel(not always), so by the time you get those numbers it'll use as much gas as a V8.

  • @yesac101
    @yesac10112 жыл бұрын

    With most of those big motors more boost doesn't make more power. More CFM's do because its about how much air you get not how much pressure the air has. Its better to have a big turbo running low boost on those then a smaller turbo running high boost. because high psi means more air friction that means more heat and heat kills power.

    850 ehp × .85 drivetrain loss = 722 rwhp. The majority of the mammoth kenne bell superchargers do that for undet 10k on most modern muscle cars. Kenne bell cobras are pushing over 1000 rwhp with 4.2l superchargers. Good effort but kenne bell is hard to beat when you compare hp/$.

Reason why it was quoted so low by the Magazines back then, was for one reason only, " Insurance purposes" That's what has been said by countless Mopar people since.
