There's nothing more manly than a little chrome and tailpipe rumble. In this episode, I dress up the crusty old tailpipe with the DC Sports Resonated Chrome Muffler Tip. It is an easy upgrade to any exhaust system for beautification and a little deeper rumble from the exhaust.

I got to be honest this is my first time watching one of your videos and it's so nice to hear someone talking with common sense it's almost like there's something soothing about watching your video and listening to you explain them. I'm not sure if you're still making videos but you're doing a great job. By the way give it about three weeks to break in maybe two months and your exhaust tip will break in like a new muffler but I'm sure by now considering the age of this video you already know that.

Does it matter how far the exhaust tip is bolted on to the pipe to get the sound? Or in other words, how much tailpipe is inside the cylindar of the exhaust tip? We installed one yesterday, looks great, but no sound difference. I am wondering if the resinator affect is based on how far the tip is slid on the tailpipe. Thanks

The best sounding tips I have tried so far are Bully brand I got from advance, I have these DC tips on my straight piped sbc, no cats, 650 cfm Holley carb, Summit cam, with shorty headers and am not sure I like them just yet and the sound change was much less noticeable than with the Bully tips. Idle has an air like sound to it. The DC resonated tips do create a bit more bass in the sound while taming the rasp when driving. I change tips and mufflers frequently for no reason at all just for reference here. My next move will be Black Widow mufflers near the spare tire with a bump in pipe size up to 2.5 I am running 2.25 right now.

I put it on my 2019 silverado 1500 LT 5.3 today. Looks better than sounds. I cannot notice but maybe a sliiiight difference in tone. If there is any difference - it is definitely minuscule in my opinion. The quick trick that DEEPLY changed my tone was covering up the 3 resonator outlets on the tailpipe after the muffler with high temp HVAC tape. I have also had a Magnaflow 18" muffler to replace stock before all this and its relatively quiet compared to Borlas and Flowmasters, but good tone, no cabin drone. Covering up the resonator ports magnified the deepness tremendously. The resonated exhaust tip, like I said, maybe slightly changed the sound. Not louder or quieter as far as I can tell. Maybe a little more pop to it. I cant be sure. Putting K&N Cold air intake on it tomorrow!

In my opinion worth its weight in salt, it actually muffled the original note. I noticed the inside was baffled and perforated... this appears to resemble a glass pack interior which is a muffler design. It does look nice though. If you want a cheap but cost effective way to improve your sound try this. Buy a Thrush brand “Welded” chambered muffler. Just match your pipes diameter, inlet & outlet locations and have a exhaust man do a muffler delete and weld the Thrush back in its place. The muffler is around $50 and a good exhaust guy would do it for $50. So around $100 make your truck sound awesome. The material on the thrush is just painted steel, if you want a complete stainless steel rust proof muffler then you’ll pay more obviously. I popped one of these in my 2019 6 speed manual Tacoma and wow, nice low end rumble but not loud or droning. The best part is the way the rumble breaks into the low end back pressure between shifts. Oh so sweet even from a 3.5L V6!
