I know I am not Irish but have spent over 30 years here and from day one was a huge fan of Christy and would always go back home and say you must listen to this guy, and especially crazy world. I was lucky enough to have met him a couple of times over the years and he was a decent, humble working class hero, so down to earth and kind with his time. So underrated as a front man. He will always be the peoples champion especially in Dublin, iconic . Rest in peace.

The last time I saw him was around Christmas I think, getting out of the car outside the jolly toper. We talked for about 2 minutes, if only id known it was the last tome, but he was in great form, his usual self. I must have seen him play 50 times in the Jolly, Erins isle & Martins. He would always put me & my mates on the guest list.😅 When playing in Erin's isle, I could go upstairs to their little room & watch them prepare. I wish we had camera phones in the late 90s when I was a teenager. (Thank God we didn't have social media, where one word you say at 18 comes back to ruin your life decades later😮)

Greetings from Talafornia. I was born & raised in Finglas South & "emigrated" to Talafornia in '82, with my folks (I'd no choice...I was only 9) I work in the Old Mill pub in Tallaght & we were fortunate to hire Aslan for a Charity gig about 5yrs ago (the pub appears in the "Living With Lucy" episode, Christy did) Hottest ticket in town so much so, we'd to put all furniture into storage and make it a "S.R.O." gig to accommodate ticket sales. Christy himself due to his health, could only do an hour or so but they did all their big hits as well as Christy doing an A capella rendition of "The Green Fields Of France 🇫🇷", which went down a storm. Everyone went home more than satisfied. It took us nearly a wk, to get the pub back to looking like a pub again but it was all well worth it. Codladh sàmh Christy & go raibh mìle maith agat. Christies music hits you in the heart. I could always relate and I was a big fan from the first time I heard him when my brother introduced me to it, as younger adults. So sad that he’s gone. His legacy will live on . R.I.p Christy, Absolute Legend ❤

I went to dozens of gigs in Cork to watch this great band. I can openly and honestly say they were the greatest band I have ever listened to both live and on Media. I even learnt all the words to most of their songs. For Christy I will shine a light for you lad.

​@@marylynch951 He suffered with addiction, then almost as soon as he beat that.. He really did that time too. He was diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer.. Gigged up until he couldn't. "everybody hits you with this feeling, nobody seems to understand." by God he had a fantastic voice.. Trained in the "bel canto" style of singing. RIP Christy 🙏

Christy had a very natural raw talent, he wasn't signing or making songs for fame or money it was for fulfillment and as he said himself it took him somewhere away from normal life. The odds were against him in many ways but he crossed the boundaries and achieved success.

I was very late finding Aslan (was only early this year I properly got into em) but the music hit me instantly, what a voice. What a life. RIP Christy
