Hitchens is one of those men they will still be quoting way off into the future. I'm sure Hannity is a nice man but I don't envision him sharing much of that future.

My favorite part of this is when Christopher Hitchens called one of Sean Hannity’s inane questions “rather unlettered.” And Hannity’s reaction seemed to be along the lines of, “Oh, am I not sophisticated for you?” But it came out merely as a soft, somewhat mocking, “Oh, okay…oh…” because he knew if he had asked if he weren’t sophisticated enough for him, Hitchens would just have smiled devastatingly and have replied, “Yes.” He knew he was outmatched. Lol.

The way Christopher said about Falwell: "He established a business, a racket in my opinion...." That's some of the most crushing delivery in amongst all the logical bludgeoning delivered in the whole segment. What a mind!

Of course Hannity would be shocked that someone on his show would refuse to lie and stick to the truth and facts.

The loaded questions Hannity kept firing at Hitchens such as _"Do you have nothing good to say about Falwell at all?"_ were an embarrassment to any serious interview.

Mister G is quite correct. Hitchens supported free speech, something the left never has and are attacking on a daily basis. But I have to ask what you mean by "Christian hypocrisy in 2019". Are you mindlessly parroting the usual narrative that because Trump is such a flawed personal character, then the Christians are hypocritical by their failure to instead support radical leftist democrats who oppose everything they stand for? I've been atheist for over half a century, I stopped believing in gods and Santa and the tooth fairy around the same time. But there is nothing at all hypocritical about Christians supporting terribly flawed people who do the right thing otherwise. Their bibles (yes, it's plural) illustrate that as a common theme. The stories are littered with terribly flawed characters doing their god's work. Trump is a saint compared to the horrendous flaws of Abraham and King David and even Moses, for just a few examples.

I don't think anyone can say where Hitch would have landed on the issue of Trump. Hitch was a completely independent thinker and often held positions that surprised others. He was a great intellectual.

Hannity "you think you're the smartest guy in the room" It would be difficult not to be the smartest "guy" in that room!

If someone doesn't deserve respect while alive, they sure don't deserve it when they die

Continues to be my favorite interview of all time. Hitchens didn’t hold back. He really gave it to those phony hypocrites.

The GOP made a heck of a switch from being outraged over an author criticizing Falwell after his death to just giving Trump criticizing McCain a free pass. Morality indeed!

Holding the Falwell family in such reverence has definitely aged well.

3 on 1 and still Hitchens crushes them

I’m a Christian. And this is one of my favorite things to watch on KZread, ever. Falwell was an embarrassment, and to watch Hannity completely unable to respond to Hitchens with the Christian charity he supposedly espouses is simply hilarious. Absolutely masterful performance by Hitchens; it was one against three and yet it somehow wasn’t a fair fight.

@@stevenpb99 Indeed people can take from the Bible and considering it's now common knowledge that the Bible stole much of its content from ancient Mesopotamian poems and simply renamed the characters, we can dismiss such books for the untruths and copyright thieves that they are. Hundreds of years before the Bible, there were characters in such poetry being banished from their garden of origin after meeting women who tempt them, forced to cover their nakenedss, characters then created from a rib after eating forbidden flowers (Biblically changed to "fruit") and more. Einstein referred to the Bible as _"Primitive legend"._ It's a storybook and a stolen storybook at that.

I didn’t always agree with Hitchens but I loved his ability to take on what he believed to be hypocrisy. He took on right wing media but he also did the same to left wing media. He was a true philosopher.

The last few seconds was the greatest hitchslap in history!

Whenever someone resorts to "you think you're the smartest guy ever" it's usually a projection of their own thought. They know that person is smarter than them and there's nothing they can do about it. Hitchens wins. Flawless victory.

I've never seen this before and wow, it's one of his finest moments. There's definitely a glee he takes in simply stating the truth about religious leaders and their profiteering. It's almost delirious because it's spoken plainly so rarely.

I certainly didn’t always agree with Alan Colmes, but I sure as hell respected him. He was one tough-ass liberal, and his radio show was excellent. As for Hannity, it’s stunning how much of an intellectual pipsqueak he was compared to Hitchens. And he isn’t any smarter today despite the number of years he’s been working on television.

This was my introduction to Hitchens, I remember watching all the cable news networks after Falwell's death and they were all hysterical, everybody was singing praises about how great he was, and here was this guy creating a firestorm just for being the only one with the balls to go out there and tell the truth, I knew from then on that this was a guy who could cut through all of the bullshit.

Hannity thinking he’s got Hitch with the quotes. “Let’s discuss your very remarks” “By all means” Gutted.
