Very true. I just yesterday read a comment by an atheist saying that he was "offended" whenever a Christian stated that he believed the Bible was "the truth". WHY would that OFFEND you? - I've never taken offense at anyone simply stating their honest beliefs, and don't see what in the world there is to get offended about. What, is he just "offended" by being confronted with the fact that not everyone in the world thinks just like he does??

@@BogartSlap , most probably he/she just gave you taste of your medicine. Being atheist doesn't mean 100% rational, all it means is that they use their brain a bit (and hence are smarter on average) more than religious lot. Statement "being offended is not an argument" stands correct, at least in my opinion. Calling bible "the truth" is a gross lie, *and you know it* , maybe that person was offended because he/she was knowingly and willingly lied to (and repeatedly lied to, if your account is assumed to be accurate).

@@_-AB-_ "all it means is that they use their brain a bit (and hence are smarter on average) more than religious lot." I haven't seen any actual research studies on that point - and I'd be skeptical as hell of the methodology of one, as it would just be very difficult to properly design and execute such a study. But speaking purely anecdotally, I haven't seen that to be the case - It's been my (albeit limited) experience that atheist zealots are just about as stupid as Christian zealots. And the implication that religious people DON'T use their brain a bit is, well, snotty and snide, and most of all, untrue. Deeply religious people, stretching at least as far back as Augustine, are responsible for composing much of western philosophy. Additionally, I've tripped across very, very few atheists who have actually thought through the logical conclusions that implicitly follow from their basic core beliefs and who, therefore, continually make statements or assertions that are blatant logical contradictions of their basic atheist philosophical stance. Anyway, that's my two cents. :) Thanks for chiming in.

@@BogartSlap , majority of good engineers (I am one and conduct interviews) are atheist, majority of good medical doctors are atheist (by good I mean who apply themselves to problem at hand rather than doing rote work). Overwhelming majority of scientists, PHD holders are atheist. Please read again, or I'd just put it down again in case I didn't phrase it correctly earlier, "On average atheists tend to use their brain a bit more than religious lot". It's just observation, there is nothing "snotty" about it. 1) I believe you know that finding a religious zealot is far much more easier than "atheist zealot". 2) Most religious people contributed to arts and science NOT because of religiousness but for a livelihood. More then a few were condemned for it by religious lot. List any five influences of Augustine that were *exclusive* to him (or derived just from him) AND are regarded useful in any field which promotes well-being.

@@_-AB-_ Sorry, but I TOTALLY call "bullshit". Several studies/surveys have found that 75-80% of doctors identify themselves as religious, or are identified as religious by their behaviors (church attendance, prayer, etc.) - so the only way that your assertion that the majority of "good doctors" are atheists could be true would be if there were very, very, very few good doctors - and I seriously doubt that you can back THAT notion up with objective data. "Overwhelming majority of scientists, PHD holders are atheist" Again, no. In fact, a 2016 Pew study found that Christians have an average 9.3 years of schooling, while "religious unaffiliated" (includes atheists and agnostics) only have an average of 8.8 years. (Number one is Jewish people, who have a whopping 13.4 years of schooling on average.) Jews also have the highest number of graduate and post-graduate degrees per capita (61%) - Christians are in second place per capita, with 22%, but in first place in absolute numbers. Religiously unaffiliated, which includes atheists and agnostics, comes in third per capita, at 16% - in terms of absolute numbers, they're obviously way behind both Jews and Christians. And that's a very salient point - the fact that such a very small percentage of the population is atheist. Approximately 21% of the US population is "religiously unaffiliated", but atheists specifically are only 3%. It's patently absurd then to assert that the "overwhelming majority" of scientists/PhD holders are atheist, as even if EVERY atheist became a scientist - and obviously that's NOT the case - because they're such a small percentage of the population to begin with, there's no way in hell they could add up to being an "overwhelming majority" of all scientists. Such an assertion is what we logicians call "absurd on its face". Now, according to a 2009 Pew research center survey, it IS true that belief in God is significantly less common among scientists than among the general population. But again, that still doesn't add up to the "overwhelming majority" of them being atheists. Even among the non-believing-in-God crowd in the scientific community, the majority of THOSE people are agnostic rather than atheist. According to a 2015 global survey by Gallup, the MOST religious people had lower levels of education, however, religious people IN GENERAL were the MAJORITY at ALL educational levels. ""On average atheists tend to use their brain a bit more than religious lot". It's just observation" I'd say that's a subjective perception of yours, rather than an objective observation. And the idea that it's a subjective perception is supported by the simple fact that my subjective perception differs from yours. " finding a religious zealot is far much more easier than "atheist zealot" Well, I'd say that's only true to the extent that finding a religious PERSON, period, is much easier, since they make up such a larger percentage of the population. But if one does manage to dig up equal numbers of each - say, 20 Christians and 20 atheists - then I'd say that among those two crowds, there are likely to be just as many, if not more, zealous atheists than zealous religious people. Consider the fact that a LOT of religious people are merely "pew sitters", not the least bit zealous about their religion. In contrast, I've met relatively few "lukewarm" atheists. I think the percentage of "true believers" among atheists is likely considerably higher than the percentage of "true believers" who are, say, Methodist or Catholic.

Firstly he was ill informed as the rest of the world was secondly to say that just because Saddam Hussein wasn't building nuclear weapons he didn't need to be stopped. Secondly are you that much of an idiot that you think his Iraq war stance defined his life's work, (I'm guessing that you haven't read any of his books). You clearly know nothing of his work however I have strong doubts in your ability to read based on your analysis of Hitchens life. "Mocking many females" I'm sorry are you that much of an idiot that you think that mocking people who happen to be female is remotely sexist. Read his memoir if you can, might take you a few years. He was very close to his mother and often talked of how he feared himself succumbing to suicide because she showed no signs of any depression and just took her own. "He proved that religion is based on faith" if that's all you pick up from his books and lectures then you're genuine purpose in life is just to waste our air. Stop doing that please. No, just you nitwits miss your dolt. Hitch who pretends to know the bible as he screws up on it over and over again including what faith means biblically. --"Faith is the surrender of the mind, it's the surrender of reason, it's the surrender of the only thing that makes us different from other animals. It's our need to believe and to surrender our skepticism and our reason, our yearning to discard that and put all our trust or faith in someone or something, that is the sinister thing to me. ... Out of all the virtues, all the supposed virtues, faith must be the most overrated”-- Christopher Hitchens Now, look at what biblical faith really means that Hitch the liar didn't even look at: Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust by evidence seen. God asks that we prove things. To reason. To get knowledge. To study. God has nothing to hide. We develop trust from what is seen, and that which is not seen yet is trusted also because of the trust built up from what is seen. It's much like a human relationship. We don't trust much until a person has gained that trust from what is observed. The difference is though, God is not limited to human powers. He created us. Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lY57xLWrpqi3fNI.html crossexamined.org/biblical-faith-vs-blind-faith/ www.truthortradition.com/articles/what-does-the-bible-say-about-faith www.revisedenglishversion.com/Appendix/16/Faith_is_Trust www.truthortradition.com/articles/faith-a-confident-expectation-of-gods-promises-coming-to-pass www.truthortradition.com/articles/hebrews-1-11-and-faith Hitchens always went into evasive word antics to avoid key questions like how we got the creation of the universe. Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space, and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it. We can't even get science without God. The laws of nature only can come from a Lawgiver, God. Life only comes from life. Law of biogenesis. God is the reason for us and all we have. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fJ2B09yHj7y5iLg.html The odds are NOT there. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iWWTraePkabfkaQ.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4ttycOwqr2yo84.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpiV07WupNebkdo.html

While I agree with most of what he says, how would the world benefit from him? Do you really think anything he says has ever convinced people to drop their faith? That's not how religion works and that's not how people that fall for religions operate. I don't say it is impossible to turn theists into atheists but you surely cannot do that with cold logic and hard facts - if these people were receptive to logic and facts they would not be religious in the first place. And mocking them, calling them names, brutally de masking everything they believe in will reduce those slim chances even more by many, many factors because all it does is firing up their defence mechanisms. If you attack a person and/or their inner beliefs they are up in arms to protect their mind, it triggers the same run or fight mechanism that is triggered when you are in physical danger, if that person was at least a bit reasonable and rational, attacking them like this assures that last bit or reason will shut down, too. The only thing he achieves is making atheists and agnostics feel better about their own beliefs and he can be watched for entertainment purposes but that's pretty much it.

I think if you are being honest with yourself you know there is and that’s why we see people who claim to commit acts of violence in the name of Islam. Frankly, I feel all religious doctrines are created equal in that they are assertions of absolute knowledge without evidence and can all be dismissed without evidence.

Happiness exists as the logical negation of unhappiness, without which there is no feeling. I'll be more careful with my sin since i must bearthe responsibility of it forever. I've never met a religious person who worked through their respective holy scriptures by themselves, everybody I met who did that was either atheist or at least very liberal in his religious views and distanced to organized religion. Having blind faith, why should one put that hard work in? There are always enough people of superior religious authority to tell one what to do/believe. You another one of those people who completely ignores Leviticus 25:39-53 which states *"If your brother who lives nearby becomes poor and he has to SELL HIMSELF to you, you must not force him to do slave labor"* . Verse 40, *"He should be treated like a HIRED WORKER"* . Verse 43, *"You must not treat him cruelly"* . Verse 44, *"Your male and female slaves are to come from the NATION'S AROUND YOU, from THEM you MAY buy a male or female slave"* (Because everybody did slavery in those days, because slaves were workers). Verse 47, *"If a FOREIGN RESIDENT or settler among you becomes WEALTHY and your brother poor alongside him and must SELL HIMSELF to the FOREIGN RESIDENT or settler" etc* Later in verse 49, *"or if he himself becomes WEALTHY, he may buy HIMSELF back"* (How can slaves do this if they were all Beaten and downtrodden as you atheists like to claim?) Verse 50 *"He should calculate with his purchaser the time from the year HE SOLD HIMSELF" etc* (Doesn't sound like an abusive relationship, more like a business deal). Verse 53 goes on to say that they are *NOT to be treated in a cruel way* also. *Deuteronomy **15:12**-15 about setting slaves free.* Verse 13 states, *"Do not send him* (the slave) *away empty handed"* Verse 14, the slave master *"should supply him GENEROUSLY with something from your flock, your threshing floor and your press for oil and wine* (Livestock, agriculture and food were the main industries in those days) *just as God has blessed you, you should give to him"* (the slave). Deuteronomy 23:15-16 states also, *"You should NOT hand over a slave to his master when he escapes from his master and comes to you. He may dwell among you in whatever place he chooses in one of your cities, wherever he likes, you MUST NOT MISTREAT HIM".* Exodus 21:26-27 states, *"If a man strikes the eye of his slave man or slave girl and he destroys it, he is to let the slave go free in compensation"* . Similarly with a tooth being knocked out in verse 27. *Slavery was a last resort but voluntarily done and fairly dignified way for the poor to make a living and is NOT to be confused with Colonial slavery of the last 200 years or so.* This is true because of the warning given in Exodus 21:16 which states, *"If anyone kidnaps a man and sells him or is caught holding him, he* (the kidnapper) *must be put to death".* What were you saying about Bible slavery?

@@robertmcmillan3638 Hahaha. Another bigot who dishonestly brings up only the small parts about Hebrew slavery, not the part of the fables that state slaves that can be captured or bought as property. "Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property." "When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are." You can spin evil verses anyway you want to. But if you're claiming biblical tales are moral, then you've just demonstrated that you are an immoral person. Period. You could have said that what's in the bible is immoral and that christians don't believe slavery is moral. BUT you chose to defend owning humans, selling humans as property, and beating humans. Congratulations. And thank you for being a public, shining example of just how dishonest and immoral christans can be.

You are another one for that lot that just likes to re-quote other atheists and their lame, ludicrous claims parrot fashion. There is reasons why things are written the way they are written that is obviously completely lost on the likes of you. *God didn't invent slavery* *Mankind DID!* God allows people to do what they want. It's part of having free will. God also hates divorce as He intended for men and women to be married and stay married for life but he still allowed for Moses and the Israelites to write out divorce certificates even though He hates divorce. EVERYBODY at the time in surrounding lands had slaves and probably treated their slaves worse (hence why God was telling the Israelites to NOT treat their slaves ruthlessly). EVERYBODY did slaves in those days as they were primarily the workforce, but according to you atheist lot slavery is only bad when the Bible mentions it? 😂😂. Liberals are the SJW movement you're referring to - those who e.g. want to limit free speech and accept Islam Libertarians are those in favour of personal liberty, and separation of church and state. Therefore Hitch (although he changed ideologies throughout his life) was most commonly known as a left wing libertarian (or something there abouts) as opposed to a liberal who is the complete opposite, and much more in keeping with social conservatives than libertarians.

Not once his life did he scientifically explain where OBJECTIVE morality comes from, much less morality in general. To all those out there claiming that Christopher was a brilliant mind you are correct, but not in the way you want him to be. He wasn’t an intellectual. @Thomas Fleming Hahahahahaha. That is the most ridiculously pathetic thing I've heard in soo long. Christianity, like all religions, is man-made. You need to do sombre accrual research to see how new and unoriginal your little christianity is. About 99% of everything in the bible has been taken from other religions. That is a 100% fact. Go do some research, you will be blown away by what you find. Even the idea of the Jesus character is stolen from Mithraism and from other religions that are thousands of years older and far, far more original. They make christianity look as sad and unoriginal as it truly is. Cheers

Jesus Christ died for your sins and mine. Was resurrected on the third day so that those who believe this and put their trust in what Christ Jesus has done for us on the cross (the shedding of his blood) would be saved and given the gift of eternal life. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live (believe it or not). He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And for someone who was trashing others for social ineptness, he seems unaware of the fact that insulting people you are trying to have a discussion with is a surefire way to drop the level of discussion. Sure, he's clearly more versed in arguing with his level of experience over the average YT-er, but he continuously refuses to address anything using anything other than deflections, pedantry, and scripture. Because he is on this particular video, and because he appears to refuse to argue in good faith, I think it's safe to label him a troll. A troll with loads of time on his hands and a philosophy degree that he's simply using to play Roger Dodger with those he dislikes on the internet.
