As a canadian, that shit is the weirdest stuff ever. The fact a group like a fuckin homeowners association has the power to fine and evict people on their own property is bonkers. I thought that was what the states was all about, castle doctrine and all that? But naw, Terry from down the road can come and give you a 250 dollar fine for having your lawn an inch over regulation, or god forbid, painting your house an unapproved colour. How the fuck do they have the legal authority to do that? I'm assuming they actually don't but just throw their weight around, so why do people put up with it? I'd tell them to go suck a pole.

Yeah I spent the whole first half of the movie thinking it was obviously a satire of how weirdly seriously people take Christmas. But then the whole thing swaps to... taking Christmas seriously? Like the final message of the film ends up feeling like "only selfish idiots try to do things that make them happy instead of adhering to pointless tradition that actively makes them miserable".

I'm mentioning the Black business owners specifically because it points out the hypocrisy and how full of crap most of those "protesters" were. It's a perfect case of using an idea that no one in their right minds would be against as a shield. Black lives matter just as much as any other. Using that fact as an excuse to cause mayhem and destruction as well as line their own pockets is disgusting. They preyed on people's inherent desire to try and be good people and made them into pawns and blind followers that would defend them no matter what

For Christmas, I got to see a man yelling he is Allah on the streets of Manhattan, Jontron ripping on Christmas with the Kranks and destroying a Christmas tree, and hear basically the truth about how people behave towards eachother on Christmas.
