It was a Happier, Healthier, Peaceful and Simpler time, back then. (I was born 11 years later. This year, 1963, my mom would have been 20 years old and had already graduated from (a public) High School (either it was 1961 or 1962).) The People, who were involved with gathering: they experienced nothing but Joy and Comfort. Family is Everything = this was the original Social Network / Networking concept, at its best.

Wow ! 63, I was only 6, but I have my folks to thank for the memorable year , My first scooter, and It was stolen the first time I left it outside a house that was being demolished.

This looks like such a fun family! You can tell how close they were and how much family meant to them.

At family Holiday gatherings my grandparents, great uncles, & great aunts would play a card game after dinner. I think it was a tradition that went back to their childhoods.

Love it. “Dames” playin cards and “da fellas” shootin dice. I could watch this a hundred times. I think I will. Nothing going on in this messed up world now.

at grammas we all played cardes together. Even us kids. If you could count and your chin was above the table edge. you were in. :-)

Loved seeing this, when families lived close and got together at a grandparents’ home. All the children were close and there was a strong family unit. My father’s family was like that and they got together for all the holidays, sometimes up to 60 people. When my grandma couldn’t do it anymore, as the family grew, it was in either my aunt’s or my parent’s finished basement. Wonderful memories as I see for these young children here.

Remember when all family got together for Christmas?

This was Christmas after JFK was assassinated. I was about 7weeks old. Im sure it was a bittersweet one for most Americans back then.

I would love to hear what they're saying. Looks like this is at maw and paws aka grandpa and gramma's farm . Those gowns still had the tags on. lol And they each got one of those infamous musical jewelry boxes of that era with the dancing balarina.

There was a TV commercial, around Christmas 1982, that had ET dressed up as Santa Claus bringing some presents into a home's living room.

Are you sure this is 1963? It looks a bit more like 1956.

Now that's a different Christmas morning tradition.....Playing poker and shooting craps !!!
