Your garland and wreaths are beautiful!! Things like that would cost quite a bit and you are so fortunate to have everything you need on your property. We have holly bushes and for some reason I've only ever seen a few(literally) berries on them. I wish they were loaded with them so I could use them for decor!

Dearest Anna, I have decorated my very small apartment inspired by your decorations! I went off to the nearby forest and took my Ivy and some other branches I liked and it looks sooooo good!!! That lino cut is more than amazing! But the repair of the window too. And the Glühwein of course ✨🍷✨(cinnamon, star anise and cloves, only three of the cloves please!)

In Sweden we have The farmers handbook it’s an very old book with wise words and practical instructions and it says that if the tree has many red berries the winter will be without snow and vise versa

Philipp, don’t feel bad about glass. I’ve done stained glass in the past and it’s virtually impossible to cut 5 mm off the end of a piece of glass.

Superb decorative designs, beautifully executed. But I always remain conscious of the fact that without the surpassingly excellent videography, lyrical cinematography and thoughtful music selection and pacing plus highly accomplished audio engineering, the designs and the renovation efforts would all appear... arduous and flat. Ann, you are so creative! That stamp was sooo impressive! Ziggy needs a coat or a jumper for those cold mornings!

We have mulled wine in Sweden too, but I guess with more spices? We use cinnamon, dried ginger, cardamom seeds, orange peel, raisins and as many as 12 cloves that are put in unseasoned brandy for four days. Then we strain the liquid into a pan and heat it up with sugar and red wine. Yum!

Love how you decorated for the holidays in such a traditional way. A few new things but largely by foraging, recycling, and scraps from other projects. Everything you put together was lovely.

How wonderful to be in the chateau, renovation, almost finished , drinking gluhwein, munching cookies, w/ your family. Glad Anna's parents could make it, glad the window is fixed, beautiful decorations for the tree.

Your choice of baroque and renaissance music is superb. And the Puccini made a very nice ending.

I love the asides from Philipp, they crack me up. I also enjoy seeing how things are made, fixed, done. Hello from Manche, I love living in Normandy.

Glass putty tip: use a little linseed oil when smoothing the putty, it wil turn out much nicer 😊🛠👍

The old fashioned way to make mulled wine was to combine all the ingredients in a tall copper pot and then take a red hot poker from the fire, plunge it into the pot for a minute or so. Nice and dramatic.

Why do I have a feeling this is the way Philip is going to do it from now on?!

It's spring across here and we're moving into summer shortly. You somehow manage to always make me feel that even being so far way I'm nevertheless included in all that is going on there - so a big thank you for that.

My mom used to make her own garland, wreaths, etc. She'd run next door and raid our neighbors giant pine tree. I learned from her, so when people compliment my garlands & wreaths and ask how I do it, I tell them, "Get your greenery together, lock them together (wire, clips, whatever) and then just start shoving flowers, berries, etc. in." Take a step back, if it doesn't look good, try something else. I can't tell you how many times I didn't think it looked perfect, but was so tired, I just said, "Eff it, it stays like that..." and they say how amazing it looks. It's complicated and easy at the same time. Yours looks incredible. Kudos!

Anna, I did a lino block print of holly and mistletoe. Printed it on just the corner of white napkins with green and dotted with red "berries" using fabric paint. They came out great. Also made wreaths for my parents and grandparents graves. Thanks for the inspiration.

I think Philip is hilarious. Tells you how much brown sugar to use and then proceeds to tell you, but you use the amount you'd like depending on how you feel about diabetes and obesity! Philipp is a hard worker with excellent plumbing and electrical skills, and from what I can tell, a really great father. Plus, his amazing filming and editing skills are what makes all their château work possible. And he's cute. Anna is a lucky woman. ( i.e. they're both great).

Enjoyed this so much, and I think you re very wise to have the person who broke the window make retrubution. A hard lesson but we learn to take responsiblity for our actions. You're not understanding Philipp's humor. He didn't make his daughter pay for the window. It was an accident. He was kidding. He has very sarcastic humor. He's so rarely serious.
