thank you for this recipe. My grandma made cookies exactly like this when i was a kid and she passed when i was 13. I never thought i'd see these cookies again. Means a lot to me.

These are beautiful, I especially like the extra trees at the end. For those of us without your skill and patience, the trees could be cut out with cookie cutters, then stacked and the white dough added around them. If desired stems would probably be easy enough to make by hand. I’ve never seen anyone add sprinkles in the dough, that was a really great idea!

Now you kno at the factory they have some fancy machine that spits those cookies out at warp speed. No way it takes them long to make.

Thanks for sharing! I am a veteran of many many holiday cookies, but mostly we did spirals and checkerboards. These are far and away the most elaborate icebox cookies I’ve ever seen in edible dough! They rival millefiori glass or clay beads I’ve seen. Putting the sprinkles in for “decorations” is brilliant! I’m unlikely to make them this detailed, but you’ve renewed my interest in icebox cookies in general and I’ve saved your video. Thanks!

Maybe a tip for next time is to roll the green into a log, flatten it to the desired thickness. Lay a ruler on top. Hold the knife at an angle 45 degrees from the board, slice against the ruler down the flattened log to create the bevel

That's the way any practical baker would do it. I follow a candy maker who makes little lollies from a long roll. Same principle. Cutting it up & gluing it back together is a waste of time.

These turned out so beautiful! I'm amazed at the work you did to make the dough, but it was worth it for the results! Store bought cookie dough has nothing on these!

Very cute✨✨😍 There is a Japanese sense to put matcha(抹茶) in the tree🎄 The brown dough also contains pecan nuts, which is a luxury💖 The process of making is like Kintaro-ame(金太郎飴) If you buy it online, it will definitely sell 👍 I`m looking foward to the sweets that Aya-chan makes.

Instead of cutting out the tree pieces then sticking together, couldn't you just shape a log like you did with the yellow star, but just in the shape of the three tree pieces? Just wondering why or why not So beautiful and seems like a lot of fun to do! I love stylized Christmas trees, such a vibrant green

That's what I would have done I think. But I have also never made cookies like this with a design inside!! Especially for the trunk part though. Seemed so redundant to cut the rectangle block of dough into strips, then into trunks just to attach the trunks end to end again to form a strip🤔. Could be a live and learn sort of deal. I appreciated the video and all the effort nevertheless!

I wonder if it might be harder to get the desired shape that way though - it's possible it'd end up looking less defined, but I'd be interested to see if it could work and how it'd look!

I did the way thinking of some other aspects like you mentioned and did not really think of cutting into stripes at that moment but you totally can! Especially to cut more time, I would cut into stripes. Note that I started from 12am😁 Maybe my brain was not working correctly! Sorry for the confusion!
