Beautiful! I love this. A few years ago, I drew some Christmas ornaments in Procreate and tried to make them look realistic. They’re okay, but yours are WAY better than mine. I made the mistake of going light-to-dark instead of dark-to-light. Your approach is so much better. Great job! ❤

Would love a landscape a bit looser, maybe with pastels? Are you getting the new iPad Pro to take advantage of the hover feature? Great tutorials, thanks.
Great tutorial! Do you have any recommendations for procreate alternatives (ideally free to get started with)?
I love your videos. This is my first one that I’m trying. But I can’t get my Apple Pencil to respond to the soft brush. I can use my finger on the canvas. But the pencil doesn’t perform like yours does. Is there a setting that I missed?
Quick question, have you got any protection on screen? Ie the paper screen protector that makes it like paper finish.
Do you have the "Merry Christmas" in a downloadable form?
The words “Merry Christmas”, does it come with the package? I cant find it on my end.
Thank you so much! Your pictures are beautiful. I am infinitely grateful that I accidentally found your channel. I've never had so much fun painting. I have a question: if I draw a picture according to your instructions, can I then publish this picture on my business website as a Christmas greeting? Or wouldn't that be okay because you were the artist with the idea? I wish you a wonderful Christmas and I'm looking forward to painting new pictures according to your instructions. Greetings from germany!

@@JamesJulier-Artist No worries. I may just have to play around with some brushes to see what works.
Hello James. That was a very enjoyable tutorial to watch. May I please ask why (at about 9:33) you created the circle at an opacity that you then kept duplicating to reach the density that suited your image, instead of setting the opacity to match your required density in one go? Many thanks in advance to hear an answer to this question James.
@JamesJulier-Artist
Жыл бұрын
Thanks, well the opacity was set to 100% and even with hard pressure the brush doesn’t like to solid fill. The other option would to have been drawn a shape with the shape tool and fill. I like to do things in different ways as it shows you can achieve things in a variety of ways. This was probably slightly less obvious lol but it did the trick

I had fun doing this one, unfortunately it has taken me longer to try (and fail) to get it into my camera roll than it took to draw it. I have a love/hate relationship with my iPad. I'm glad it was expensive, it's the only thing that keeps me from throwing it out the window

Ha yeah technology can be very frustrating when it does do what you want
Almost done then he introduced the merry Christmas blurb in the middle and I had no reference of where to find something like that nor how to get rid of the white paper border?! Tell us a royalty free website on where to collect fonts or I did try one in Procreate but it was really complicated!
@JamesJulier-Artist

As I explain and demonstrate you can grab a ‘merry Christmas’ message as an image from Google extremely easily and then at 19:12 I precisely explain how to get rid of the white background. Honestly it’s not that difficult and I DO explain it clearly.

My apologies Sir…being autistic makes one quite impatient at times and learning something new happens to fall on the weak side of the affects of Asperger’s of this infuriating condition. Now I’ll go back and look and listen yet a fifth time to really get all that you presented.

I use a font generator, but slanted it and added swirls. I provide the procreate file for patrons over at Patreon and that includes the text I use. You can grab any message from google though if it’s just for personal use

You recorded your dialogue at -14dB. It is much to low for YT. all your other YT videos are OK. Check your audio levels when you export and make sure your dialogue peaks at about -6dB.

@@JamesJulier-Artist Try this. Right-click on the video player and select Stats for Nerds at the bottom of the options. Look at the Volume / Normalized value. The correct Loudness or LUFS for KZread and other streaming services is -23 LUFS. The easiest way to achieve that is to set your audio to peak at -6dB in your editor. Look at all the top YT creator's channels, they all hit that target. Yours, the viewer has to adjust the volume up, just o get to a normal level.
