Silent movies are always fun. You can just imagine the conversation. Granny at 19sec: "oh great, a polaroid camera" Dad at 29 sec:"come on, boy, just put down the drink and join us, oh, and I forgot to wrap the camera flash", Mama at 37 sec, did I get any gifts, or did everyone forget about me again this year? Johnny at 46 sec, Did I just drink this whole glass of vodka? I am feeling good about this empty cup. Jefferey at 1:07, this pong game is so awsome! I am going to spend hours and hours playing it. Family at 1:17, someday in 45+ years we will all be playing "just dance" instead of pong. Granny to Mama at 1:31: You are going to burn it again. Turn down the heat! I was born in 1970, and I bought a VHS camcorder in 1988, shortly before I turned 18. I remember in a high school class, in 1987, shortly before i turned 17, we got to use a VHS camcorder one day, and we tried to make a little movie as a class project. I remember when i saw myself on the tv for the first time, after we completed our short little class project film. In the earlier part of the film, I was just sitting on my classroom chair&table. I remember that I didn't like the way I looked in that segment of the film. Especially the close quarters filming segment. I was very self consciece/insecure about my Chronic Acne issues. And embarrassed about the Dark Circles around my eyes as well. Allergies and chronic sleep deprivation. Poor diet too. I probably would've grown to 6'2 instead of 5'10, had I lived/grown up, more wisely. All water under the bridge at this point. Including the recollective regret of not trying to convince my Dad to get a video-camera for us to all use, back in the 1970's. It would've been so interesting and fun. Just a 16 mm or even an 8 mm camcorder would've been sufficient. For example, To see films of myself Backyard-Boxing with my Neighbor back in 1980, at 10, and Trying to mimic various KungFu manuevers from various saturday afternoon Asian Action movies in the backyard in 1982, at 12, riding my first 10 speed bicycle at 12 years old, and playing wiffle ball games versus my Uncle from 1980-1983, and Break-dancing back in 1984, at 14, would basically Never get old. Those were very formidable Fun time years.

That's it exactly for 76 the big Bicentennial Year. The house and people are on the spot too. I forgot how things were with all the older relatives still around then. Kind of sad in one way but life goes on.
awesome ! thanks for sharing.
Nice! The picture quality is excellent for what I assume is 8mm? You must have had a really good light source for those indoor shots. A fun look back at a bygone era.
Nice! Thank you for posting !!
Granny at 1:49 Come on lets dance the chicken dance!

This is a exquisite video. This was my era. Subbed. All the best !
My family took a lot of Christmas 8mm in the 1970's too . Ours had a lot more 'booze' in it and Uncles passed out under the tree. I used to tell my friends this story and they never really believed me; when FB came along I could finally share my boyhood holiday experiences . ha ha ha ha

A much easier and laid back time.
The height of human civilization. Such a special time.
You get the real sense that Mom was getting annoyed with Mother-in-Law..lol. I can almost hear her thoughts. "Here she goes again, telling me what I'm doing wrong"
Not sure why this was in my feeds but it makes me sad because 70s and 80s were probably the best years and people actually cared for one another and made time to make special memories now its all gone to sh*t and people are mostly all freaks in this world now more than ever.

I agree totally..😢
Love the Atari and Pong.
I was 16 back in 1976 and I lived in Florida... we were sitting out in the sunshine. I can't even imagine all that snow though it's pretty but too cold for me!
Snow from '76 looks just like it does today....
I had that Pong game! Great video.
I wonder that they’re saying. It’s nice to socialize with your kind of people. Thanks for sharing!
Love This!!!!
Was 16 years old, a lot of great holiday memories , Bicentennial year.
I was 6 this same year remember getting an Evel Knievel set and pong….
Thank you for posting the video
Hey! That looks like my home last Christmas 2022.
"PONG" That's awesome 👌
Good ole tinsel
So much better back then. I miss it.
Any time before social media was a better time.
I'm from Peabody, MA
This is great. Thanks.

It is. On this same day in 1976, my experience was very similar, in Danvers Mass.
Thank you for sharing this video.
Love it❤
cool, my grandparents lived in peabody at that time
1:26 I used to have that same kettle that's on the stove.
Picture quality is amazing
So much fun to watch! I was 13yo in 1976! This brings back some wonderful memories. It’s hard to believe I’ll be turning 60yo in several weeks.
Used to love xmas
1976 Christmas hey I got pong. 2023 Christmas, hey I got a bong!
Life was much better then
This is “that 70’s show”!
I enjoyed that, and the quality is beautiful...everything looks as it should. Who transferred the film?

1976 the year of the cat . Married my girlfriend in July 76 . We’re still together . Her friends told her it would never work out
Nice!
And then we went to hell in a hand basket, so to speak.
Did Mrs. Peabody get a new frig for Christmas? Amana frost-free with all of the features.
Quality family
Cook stove? 😳 What the hell is a cook stove my girlfriend ask? This day and age🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
These people didn't even know what "Star Wars" was yet.
Similar right down to PONG ( it left ghost lines on the t.v. screen ).
I think it's time to swing the clock back, we need to just slow the role .And just be........
Do you have any movies of your cars?
I was 18 years old then.
Agent Maud’Dib Cooper at fifty seconds
Cool to be reminded of when I was a kid. I remember getting a pong game too. A fun, dopey, little game. Also, nice direction there with the garage door opening. That looks like in-camera editing, so I assume you had to shoot the door opening three times from different spots.
In this video, the family didn't go "all out" on fancy table-setting.
The super 8 years a french film is due out on dec.20 its a film on super 8
Just think what really would be like if lived back in day that they didn't have in door plumbing like running water in side the house or no electric taking baths once a week sharing the same bath water washing close by hand and alot ironing We have it a hell alot better today than back than The only thing Familys where alot closer and helping one another out
