​@@tomhoar2399 if they choose not to lift in areas prone to bottoming. RB performs badly at Singapore and is the only car in the field that has to lift through Eau Rouge. There's always a trade off, RB made it work for them.

Toto was full of crap here. He was just trying to get some rules changed because there car was so horrible and quite possibly even deadly at that time. The FIA shouldn't have changed the rules and just told him to raise the ride height and fix the suspension. Instead the raised the sides of the cars and now this has allowed the team to start pushing air out the side from underneath the car now resulting in the increased dirty air.

Well yes and no. If a set of rules puts safety and racing success too much in opposition to one another, then teams get a conflict. If just one particular design seems to have safety issues it seems fair to suggest that team tries a different approach.

The day that Toto screwed himself and F1. Raising ride heights hurt the Mercedes even worse than its competitors. It caused other teams to pursue loopholes in the aero regs which led to adding 20% more dirty air between 2022 and 2023. And ultimately it resulted in the Red Bull absolutely obliterating the competition the next year. Great job Toto!
