Although many credit the opening looks to Edie Sedgwick being the inspiration, and the models were styled to look like her, but I think the overall inspiration came from the haute couture collection from fall/winter 1960, that then designer Yves Saint Laurent, fired from the house of Dior. This collection featured many all black clothes, with a definite "street style" vibe, but more importantly, in this collection, were the black crocodile jackets and skirts, he showed , both press and clients highly disapproved of. Based on that , it seems like Galliano might have been inspired by Yves Saint Laurent last haute couture collection for Dior.

Haute Couture is about how things are made. Even though all those outfits look simple they're all hand made. It's also probably a lot of skill to work with crocodile skin like that. The top on the 3rd outfit also looks very intricate, like they put crocodile skin on another fabric. Using crocodile as embroidery.
