At twenty-four, Otto the Great was serious-minded, reserved and deliberative. He’d commanded armies on the eastern frontier. He rigorously practiced his Christian faith, attending mass daily and praying the Divine Office. He married an English princess, Edith, granddaughter of Alfred the Great. During the coronation mass, Otto’s sword, crown and scepter were laid before the altar. The Archbishop of Cologne, Wikfried, poured holy oil on his head before Otto took up the symbols of his rule. But Otto's greatest challenge would come in 955 at the Battle of Lechfeld, the ultimate showdown between the East Francian Franks and the Magyars.

This is going to be amazing. This guy is greatly undervalued in KZread. You can see the quality of these videos are on par with the best of the best. Keep doing them sir. One of the few nowadays giving the history of the crusades justice
If you watched this video or others before, you would have noticed that it takes the author several months of researches and preparations .. To come out with such accurate great content and outstanding visuals .. Regardless, I have no idea why this channel is so underrated, compared to other mainstream documentary channels. Keep the hard work, Brother !! .. Guys, give a "Like", his documentaries deserve more audience!
This deserves so many more views and likes 🙏🏽👏🏽
I think this channel should have a lot more subscribers then it does these documentaries are beautifully made not rushed and accurate!!! Couldn’t ask for more thank you!

Greetings from Bavaria
awesome video thanks so much
Finally. Much obliged to your good Sir! I've been wanting for someone to make a proper dive into Christian medieval military accomplishments who are seriously under-recognized for the feats achieved given the conditions they were endeavoured under. The Crusades alone were magnanimously difficult logistically and financially but still upheld several great kingdoms for two centuries. And El Cid, Richard Lionheart, Baldouin IV, Edward Longshanks, Godfrey of Builllon, Bohemond de Hauteville, all the Hautevilles. All legends in their own rights and some even deserving of a place among greatest military leaders.

This entire video was epic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 a really great job from the narration to the graphics.
This is a good video when you need inspiration naming your sons
People might get the impression that Adelaide of Italy was some kind of alien ethnic figure to the Franks and East Franks. In spite of her name, she was, of course, a Welf from Bavaria (and a Swabian from her mother), so as East Frankish as they come. Her name, too, in its original form, was Adelheid.
Exciting 😀
Outstanding documentation. Thank you.

Epic. Thanks for sending with KF3 - one of the most awesome saints, with some saintly contemporary rulers (St Louis IX and St Wenceslas) in his days, he still shines as an image of Virtue and a great example to all men of good will
Thanks for the mega documentary

Just a humble question, Is Joan of Arc too far forward in time for this? I would expect her to be listed in this. Great video regardless, good work
hi would you do video on 5 crusades called by pope on Hussites in Hussite wars? all 5 failed. Hussites were mostly armed peasants and beat 5 organized crusades called by pope with mounted knights etc. Hussites called themself wariors of god. one crusade even ran of before fighting after hussites started singing their battle hymn "who are wariors of god" based on legend but probably there was some fight atleast small one but in one crusade they basicaly ran right away back to pope.

Hold on. Am I to understand from your documentation of El Cid's life that he never actually did loose a single battle? Then his lacking acclaim makes even less sense. Everyone going on about "oh Alexander the Great this, Napoleon that", and as a more contemporary comparison lauds Khalid-Ibn-al-Walid as "never having lost a battle" (which he actually did, he lost several) yet El Cid, the real deal is left out? An outrage to say the least.

There's no doubt, El Cid never lost a battle in his life. His career, as a contemporary Muslim writer of that time said, made him "a wonder of God."

but that's what I got with that King Richard! lion heart! I'm writing a novel about him, and I'm studying documents, sometimes I think I'm smarter than John Gillingham himself, the greatest expert on this, and when I read yesterday project gotemberg saint hugo of lincoln, book, and those sentences that king richard threatened stefan de turnham that he can execute him if he does not confiscate the property of St. to hugo. so I had enough. or how Hugo Lincoln admonished him for being unfaithful to his wife Berengaria, or blamed Walter Hubert, who made mistakes, okay, at least when he suppressed Fitzobert's rebellion, he should have supervised the tax collectors in London, and he would have prevented it. and he cursed the saint too, and King Richard confiscated his property. but when the bishop visited him instead, Richard yielded to him. and unfaithful to his wife? hugo of lincoln gave gossip just as richard gave gossip to his office walter hubert. it just pissed me off that king richard was chasing hugo lincon. when I read one source about nom richard, then the second contradicts me. it's really a terrible job to find material for a novel
My kids are right- the first half of this is a scary horror story

@RealCrusadesHistory I think Germanic folk tended to give candid names to their rulers. My favourites are the two Frankish Kings, respectively Charles the Simple and Charles the Fat. Just came across your channel and it seems a quality product.
I'm disappointed by fact you covered II.Vlad but not Gjergj Kastrioti even though he is the man declared as Champion of Christ by several Popes who decimated Ottoman main armies several times. II. Vlad actually never came to close his battle proves.
