There's a famous phrase that goes "a dog is for life, not just for Christmas". It was an effort to stop people from irresponsibly buying pet dogs for their kids at Christmas when they weren't in a position to look after them for life. This guy turns it round and says "A Christ is for life, not just for dogmas". The word 'dogma' means a set of rules, usually followed by a religion. It still makes perfect sense with those two words reversed. Very clever play on words.

ronstero There's a popular phrase in America/England, "A dog is for life, and not just for Christmas", as there's a common trend of buying puppies for people, and the puppies don't get looked after properly - they get a dog to look cool. So this guy subverts this phrase by switching "dog" and "christ" round, implying that celebrities only claim to be christian for a dogma: to appeal to the public, who will think better of them for their religion - they follow Christ to look cool. So it's basically just a very clever bit of word play.

Jared Piper, I think you missed PM's point. He was not putting the kid down or accusing him of stealing jokes or even saying that taking influence from another comedian is bad. He was simply replying to James Brown's comment. He was simply pointing out that there are dry deadpan comedians who make it about the joke in America as well, and some of the best at it at that. That it isn't a British thing as James Brown insinuated.

Utterly brilliant - I love the "Bracists" remark and the Christ/Dogmas joke really is brilliant. I love his deadpan delivery (similar to Steven Wright). It takes some guts to deliver so slow and deadpan but then again his material is superb. Interestingly more recently he seems to have changed his style completely.
