The only person left in country music that Johnny Cash would probably listen to. He transcends genres, writes, sings and plays guitar straight from the depth of his soul.
If country music were preschool, with its cheesy lines, formulaic childlike rhythms and commercialized fake bs, Chris Stapleton is university, smooth, polished, deep, authentic, and adult.
From Valedictorian of his HS class to a scholarship at Vanderbilt to thrilling millions who’ve heard him perform. One does not simply listen to Chris Stapleton, you FEEL it in your soul. Thank you God for gifting us with this massive talent. Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Anyhoo.... 😁😁😁
Songs like this, by artists like this, are why buffalo trace whiskey and rocking chairs exist !!!
All it takes is that one you invest every fiber of your being and it's there, then it's not! If you've had it, lost it, nothing ever comes close, not really. We say it does. We pray it does, but it seldom does.
At 60 +++ yrs old I have seen a lot of changes in Country music. So... before I die Let me say this to the next generation of singers and listeners. This song is probably the best example of New Country I have ever heard! Are you all ready for his New Album? Chris if you happen to read this.. Don't change Anything! I'm here for all of it! This is what I mean by make a song cry 😢❤❤
He took that knife and diced my heart into peices. I don't want to be here anymore. Lord that man can sing!
This man can’t be put in a “genre” box. He simply makes great music that exudes from his soul, and touches so many other souls. For me, that is what a great musician does☮️💜

Not really a country guy but listening to him since Super Bowl performance dudes nasty
He is the Best Country Singer of All Time... So Soulful..
I don't consider myself a country fan, but I watched the CMA show the other night anyway. Lots of good music. But when Chris Stapleton came on you could tell from the first few notes something really good was about to happen. He's a no nonsense "get right down to business" kind of singer. He gave me goose bumps from the moment he opened his mouth. I just found this video of that performance and couldn't keep from crying while it played. Wow! A rare talent, for sure.

@joruha look up his Bluegrass song, Blue Side of the Mountain. I LOVE IT....and it's not even some of his best. The Adele song he croons out live is somewhere on YT too. You should listen to it. It's just him, his song, his guitar and a microphone, shewww-wee, it's goood stuff!! Jmo...

Good lord what an absolute MASTERPIECE! I've never been a country music fan but this crosses all the genres of Soul and R&B like I've not heard since the 60's! Thank you Chris for this gem!
Broooooo just me or could this be the best james bond theme somg everrrrr
Chris could perform in a barn filled with livestock and hay or, in a dark, corner of some smoke-filled hole-in-the-wall and, he'd fit right in. He's right up there with the other country and, blues greats.
Chris Stapleton is the Adele of country music 🎶. He pulls on my heart strings 💔 ❤️💕

He has actually written for Adele before. I actually think Chris is a lot more talented, but Adele is very good.
You can literally feel his soul when he plays that guitar and sings. He is by far the most soulful dude out right now in any genre of music!
Chris leaves you wanting more. Just a little bit more.
Chris sings with such soul, emotion heart , you can feel chills everytime he sings , the passion in his voice so powerful
This man is a lyrical genius. I literally can listen to him non-stop all day.
I'm both a viola player and a guitarist. As someone who is deeply engrained with a love of strings this hits every box on the list. The fact that it's Stapleton makes it 100x better

O0hhhhh.... supernatural Chris Stapleton is God.
Blaine Howard and I were talking one day and he told me Stapleton is his favorite writer/performer. The only thing I knew about him at that time is he wore a cowboy hat. After hearing this tune...shit. Dude just reached into my heart and took all that pain away...
I love some Chris Stapleton, that sultry, soulful rich sound is epic and can't be duplicated. He is an original, genuine legend!!!!

Stapleton is bad ass but whoever does the bass in his songs deserves recognition. The bass guitar sets a mood in this song.
