    I think before the internet really became the centre of everything, people on this side of the pond would have been fairly sheltered from the conversation and history around that word. Without the history that word is significantly softened. Kinda like (but not the same as) how we use the word "cunt" in everyday language without it being seen as misogynist.

    @Matthew Jamison at the time of the interview a pound almost bought you 2 bucks, now they are close to parity. That is before brexit has even happened yet. Most economists think it will head even lower, unless there is a much softer brexit than what is currently planned.

  • @konczk

    @konczk

    @Matthew Jamison I work in the vehicle parts import-export business. I can tell you with confidence, that hard brexit isn't going to be fine. At the very least, it is going to decimate what remains of UK manufacturing. But, at least you'll get rid of all the foreigners in your country, Which is what I guess why people have voted for Brexit in the first place. The irony in that, is that EU expats will have 30 other EEA countries to choose from to move to, whereas Brits will be stuck on the dole in little Britain or whatever it will be called once it's done breaking up.

    Slow down the reference to UK people. Interesting I’ve seen Chris Rock live and he speaks quick as well witty.

    I remember thinking at the time that this interview had some real out of pocket moments lol. The surprise n word, the "how hands on are you with your kids" question, the "I assume you grow up broke" point lol, wtf.

    Even Tom Hanks was cringing at Jon's questions. Chris isn't stupid. He understood he was being interviewed (and tested) on UK TV in the middle of his comedy tour. He wasn't about to check Jon on his show and ruin his new fan base. But, off camera, I wonder...???

    @@bizness-as-usual-58 He didn't say that word. He said the pluralised word. "The N word" is singular. The word Chris used in his joke isn't. He said it once to ask Chris about the joke. Chris knew he was stuck and teased him about it. This was two grown ups having a proper conversation. Watch it again. He uses the pluralised word once to ask him, then reverts to the term "The N word" for the singular after. I think everyone missed that.
