One of the all time greats for sure. Perfect blend of elegance and utility, there’s nothing quite like it. I found the action to be a bit stiff to start, so to help it along I just lightly polished the washers (a little gentle 2000 grit wet-sanding and a final polish on a strop) and used a Teflon grease/oil combo to lube it. It now flicks open smoothly and will shake shut easily… still has that unique feel but no sore thumb!

@@svenjaeckel1762yeah, me too… first time I handled it I was like wtf goes on here? But it’s become one of my favorites for sure. It’s so well built, the tolerances are insane,it’s beautiful looking, and now that it’s a smooth and easy opener/closer I’m completely happy with it.

Fantastic review, and I agree 100%, Chris Reeve knives are incredible! The free services and the spa treatment are rarely talked about but are huge advantages! I have 14 CRK’s (I like to have at least one version in each steel S35, 45 and now MagnaCut) but in 2018 I broke out a Large Inkosi and it’s been in my pocket every day since.

I received my Umnumzaan in June of 2019 as a gift for my first Father’s Day. It’s since been my most carried knife by a landslide, out of a rotation of about 30 and a total of hundreds since then. They do take quite a while to break in, but once they do it’s go time. I’d definitely consider mine high mileage at this point, but after a year or so of almost daily carry and use, I polished the washers then started using a mix of the CRK fluorinated grease mixed with Gunny Glide oil. Holy shit, if you have any knife on washers, this is the way!!! Mine also deploys with authority, another post-break in benefit. 👌

I've only had mine for about 8 months and I love it. I enjoy slow rolling it out but it is very flickable after breaking it in an using a mix of CRK's grease and CPL.. I carry it almost everyday but I'm afraid to lose it LOL! After all, I'm still paying for it! Enjoyed the video!

It's an amazing knife but I highly suggest you carry and use it for at least a month before judgement because it's unlike any other knife out there and it honestly takes some getting used too. Very few people love this knife immediately but it will grow on you.

I always liked the looks of it. Bought it a few years back. Really wanted to like it but it didn't fit my nand at all. And I later noticed the other aspects I didn't like. So I ended up gifting it to a friend. But to this day I can't deny that it's a great looking knife

Opening my Umnumzaan was so damn difficult when I first got it. SO glad that I waited it out. Fantastic knife. There have been so many advances in the knife industry, but Chris Reeves stand up to anything made today in my opinion. There's no good reason for them to change all these years later.

I have large hands and my current favorite EDC is the Benchmade Super Freak. I would like to consider the Umnumzaan. Have you or any of your followers been able to compare both firsthand? Is the Umnumzaan larger, smaller, the same? TIA

Good review mate. I've got the inkosi in magnacut, one of my favourite knives of all time also. Not sure how u ever managed to rust LC200N? Cos that stuff is even slightly more rust resistant than magnacut from all the saltnwater tests that I've seen done, but they're basically equal, maybe you had a bad batch, what knife was it in LC200N that u managed to rust and how did you do it? I've carried my LC200N knives in salt water for weeks without cleaning or rinsing them off and there's never been even a spec of rust or staining. Cheers

I'm curious why you changed your comment around man, like if you take the time to post something negative then at least have the integrity to stand by your words. Now to answer your question, I rusted a spyderco salt, to be clear it didn't rust bad just some spotting that I was able to get off with baking soda and lime juice but it rusted all the same. As for what I was doing, years ago I used to be a manager at my friends moving company and we were doing a particularly brutal job in Phoenix AZ in the middle of summer, nearly 17 hour day, drenched in sweat and when I got home I took out my gear which included a spyderco salt knife, also a steel wallet and a steel pry bar and literally every single thing metal in my pocket had rust. Obviously this is not the normal for most people, I have particularly caustic sweet and I also worked in an extreme environment and being neglectful in a way few people probably ever are. It's not a knock on the steel, it's more of a comment on me. Also I have continued to carry this knife and have done a few things similar recently and it still doesn't have even a spec of rust on it.

@@RedwolfEDC My reason for editing my comment was for grammar and sentence structure, and forgetting to add something, nothing to do with negativity so im not sure why you assumed that it was. I complimented your review, as i have had a similar experience with my inkosi in magnacut and love the thing to death. Cheers for the explanation. Also sometimes spydercos salt knives have been known to get a bit of cross contamination from the factory, where particals of other steels get embedded or stuck to their salt knives, just due to the environment, tooling machines and the number of steels they deal with. I've found giving them a good rub with steel wool or polish to be a good idea to remove any particals that might have stuck to them on a microscopic level. You mentioned your LC200N has never spotted again since that day, i wonder if it could've been the reason. Anyways, have a good one mate. Cheers

Bud I couldn't give a single flying fuck about what anyone thinks about me, I openly say that this is a platform of open critique and critism because who am I to critique and criticize if I am not open to it myself. With that being said what people done seem to be aware of is that whenever someone comments it shows that original comment as well as any and all edits made and the man above me 100% was being negative and so when he edited it I reached out to say that shit isn't needed because I do not censor my comment section like most of these idiots and I welcome all opinions rather they agree with me or not

I am a little bummed that I have 2 send my spartan blades Pallas I'm for repair. Not sure what material the button is made from, but it has a bunch of little dents in it. So now it has lock rock. 😢 to be fair, I beat it up for 3ish years and probably flicked it open more than a million times. No exaggeration at all. I would open and close it for hours at a time when I was stressed out. I was trying to get them to send me a new button, but they want me 2 send it in. 🤷🏽‍♂️ can't really be mad . They have insanely good customer service.

How do you even buy a Chris Reeves knife?...The wait time listed on the website is 4 to 6 years! Is it risky to buy on eBay (as I assume there are clones.)

  • @RedwolfEDC

You can buy them pretty easily from dealers during drops or from trusted resellers on the FB groups.

Good dealers have standing orders in, so you can find one at a small local knife shop if you’re lucky. The tanto is quite difficult to find, but you may luck into a drop point if you search. This is a knife that can literally be resold at a profit or at the least for cost, so there’s no risk to trying it.

I decided I had to have one so I did get one off of Ebay. The seller had 100% positive reviews and it came with everything as if it came from CRK themselves. I registered it with CRK to confirm the warranty. I may have paid a bit more than a regular store but I had to have it. And it's a tanto!

@jeremygubner3304 So inlay wise it's my favorite CRK, the blade to handle ratio is pretty bad if that type of thing bothers you. Ergonomically speaking they only fit a certain type of hand because of the aggressive finger grooves but if you are either way above like I am or it within that size range it feels great. The action is also a bit cleaner overall compared to the Sebenza or Zaan. Edge geometry wise all CRK products are good to go but the dip in the top of the blade on the inkosi for me is a pretty bad hot spot. That being said I own 3 two with inlays and one pj one so clearly I really like it.
