Collins was never the most talented of boxers, but what hw did have was balls by the bucketload. I knew someone years ago who trained in the same gym, told me Collins was probably the toughest boxer he had met, and a great guy.

Collins was very much like Mike Mc Callum. Both avoided and were better fighers than those who made the big pay days. Thank fully the Celtic Warrior was brought in as a late replacement and tore the title of the hyped up Brit twice. Then he went on to retire Benn and gave him 2 fights. Neither going past the 6th rd

Eubank was a formidable warrior at the end of his career - against Calzaghe, Thompson and Collins 2. Too cautious during, maybe thanks to Michael Watson 2? Nevertheless - good job from Steve!

Not the type of boxing I personally like to watch. Collins is a brawler and good at it, so fair enough.

Collins looks like a heavy-weight against a middleweight. Didn't realise he was such a big guy! (Couldn't bare to see the old warrior Lions of Benn and Eubank getting beaten. This is the first time I watched this from the day it took place)

Much respect to Steve Collins' cojones !!!

Why did Collins never ever get no credit or fame for beating the best available in the world of the Decade ???

I can see from the comments a lack of respect for Collins. Benn would have, Eubank could have, etc. Well guess what they didn't. I'm more of a Calzaghe fan but Collins deserves the respect a lot of you don't give him.

Steve gave Mike McCallum at his best a good fight and Steve was inexperienced at the time. So win or lose he would of give Roy a good fight no problem Steve could fight any style

Eubank knocked him down in first fight, twice. One knockdown was disallowed somehow. Yeah Steve is steel no doubt though. Eubank clearly lost this one.

As for Roy jones, well he was just in a different league.. I think only Eubank at super middleweight would've been a serious threat to Jones, although I think he would've still been too much even for Eubank.. Jones in his prime from 23-30 was untouchable, the best pound for pound second to none. Shame he couldn't quit when he won the heavyweight title, should've called it a day then.

@dan32113 Never meant to imply anything negative about Collins' toughness, and if indeed McCallum said that that's impressive! I was speaking about overall fighting skill & ability. Take Mickey Ward, for example. Tough as nails, and definitely more than a decent fighter -- but perhaps not a "great" one -- in my opinion. Perhaps I would feel something similar regarding Steve Collins. But it just seemed to me that CE had more natural giftedness. But your point about his record is well-taken.

Just watched the entire fight back, it wasn't pretty but Collins out worked Eubank in all but maybe two or three rounds. Judging was disgraceful should have been unanimous and far wider margins on all score cards for Collins.

I agree Collins was a good fighter but over rated, he beat eubank and benn at the back end of their careers, had he fought them in they primes different results. As for Roy jones, he would've wiped the floor with Collins, too much skill and talent. The eubank that fought in the first Watson fight would've ko'd Collins, that was the beast eubank who ko'd benn n Watson.

I don't think it would be fair to say Eubank was Fucked up by Collins both fought well, I would say however towards the end of Eubanks Career he certainly lost any killer instinct and would stand off after a onslaught to allow an opponent time to recouver. I guess this may have been a result of the Watson bout. The only guy who ever came close to fucking Eubank up was Carl Thompson(underated) whom Eubank went up a weight to fight. A number of USA pundits said it was fight of the decade 1&2 great

I watched this fight and remembers it well and I felt at the time that it was a cheat decision and now I am even more convinced. The referee did not even warn collins once about his tactics in the early rounds when he was hitting and holding. Back then I hated Eubanks and is no fan now but he was robbed.

Just seems to me that somewhere along the way Eubank lost it mentally. With no disrepect to Collins meant at all, CB had no business losing to him either time. Kind of strange upstairs, if his mental toughness had equaled his abilities in the ring . . . no way. Sometimes I wonder if so much violence in one's profession messes w/a person's mind.

To carl Delaney- don't get me wrong mate Collins was a very good fighter, very tough, solid chin, not much of a boxer more a brawler with high work rate. But he fought Eubank n benn at the back end of their careers, Benn was never same after McClellan fight, a young prime pre-Watson Eubank would've beaten him though I think Collins would've beaten benn even in his prime.. Eubank was a beast, I remember Collins saying himself he watched Eubank fight n admitted he wasn't a better boxer n most importantly he wasn't as tough as he was so he couldn't go toe to toe with him..

Funny watching Eubank talk about how he was cheated with that little girly accent..You werent cheated chris you were bet convincingly twice by a far better fighter..And yes before you ask you are a bum.. :)
