People forget that Eubank went up two weight classes, 13 stone plus for the first time in his career for his two fights against Thompson. Take absolutely nothing away from this man. A warrior, a legend and a pure showman.

Carl Thompson was up there with the best,he never got his recognition but id put him as one of the worlds best fighters without a doubt

Carl Thompson hardly gets a mention nowadays, but even past his prime he taught a young David Haye a lesson!

Eubank was so tough. So many wars. He never backed down 👍

It's funny. The British public largely hated Eubank. But after he lost this gruelling fight, the same public loved him. I always was a fan of his. Joe Calzaghe to this day describes Eubank as the toughest hardest opponent he ever had to face. Admitting he never had to dig so deep.

Best fight I've ever seen. Christ knows how I missed that back in the day. Unbelievable boxing. True warriors, both of them.

While Thompson had limited boxing skills he also had one of the hardest punches of any Cruiserweight, David Haye certainly felt the power of it when a 40 year old Thompson TKO'd him in round 5.

THIS fight Made me a fan of Eubank more than the Benn and Watson fights. Really great display of grit and guts against a far bigger man who was in his prime. Great, great display indeed.

Me too so much I attended Eubanks rematch against C A T and his final ever fight. Was also a great fight.

Cracking fight forgot how good it was. I took up boxing at the age of 40 with Carl as my trainer at his gym in Bolton. That was 18 months ago and still enjoying it. Carl is a top guy and trainer.

Lucky boy training with one of Britain's best. Carl is a class act in and out of the ring.

Carl Thompson will go down as one of the most underrated british fighters and world champions of all time. I don't think n e body ever knocked him out. Christ he was tough n a serious handful. This also shows how gud n tough eubank was too.

+Ryang403 Yes, he doesn't get enough credit, Carl. Here he frequently hit Eubank, who is not the easiest person to hit and he boxed very well for a guy who is a brawler and puncher first and foremost. Very impressive. I think he deserved the decision.

Great fight, eubank was a very brave fighter, this fight was at the end of his career and carls prime and for eubank to stand up to his power was brave, eubank had the best chin of any fighter, only Marvin hagler comes close. To say a 40 yr old Thompson ko'd a younger haye pays tribute to what eubank did here. A brave warrior with a lot of guts, shame about the fighters today! Benn, Collins, Watson and simply the best eubank the glory years of British boxing, didn't need the yanks Britain had its own greats. Golden years of British boxing..

Nad hussain Hagler's one of my favourite fighters but his biggest wins where at middleweight. We dont know how good his chin would been if he had stepped up. Whereas Eubank a natural super middleweight fought a huge puncher in Carl at cruiserweight and went the full 12, that is incredible.

I will always say that Carl Thompson was an unsung hero of British Boxing.Seemed to me that he could have stepped up to heavyweight.Can`t question Chris Eubank for skill and extreme durability though.Two greats.Jim.Liverpool.

Thompson and Eubank earned every penny they received for that fight. It was such a great fight that even the announcer called for a round of applause for both boxers. Fantastic fight. I think it was the right result.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a fight! A truly epic effort by Chris Eubank. Chris Eubank is from where I grew up, Brighton. There's no statue or even a plaque to recognise the Pride that this man gave to the town (city) of Brighton and Hove, along with his blood, sweat and tears! I find that so wrong & actually, unbelievable!

The difference in physical size is huge, Thompson looks like heavyweight against a blown up middle weight, amazing how the much smaller eubank was the puncher in the fight, close fight maybe a draw would've been the best result.

Thanks for the upload...one of my favourite fights...i always liked nigel benn..but after this fight had so much respect for eubank!!!

Eubank is easily one of my favourite boxers to watch. Man he just moves so well, and is tough as nails. I don’t know how he lost this decision, for mine he was well ahead right up until round 8. Still this has got to be one of the best bouts I’ve ever seen, I never get tired of watching it. Wish we got more like it these days.

Lion Heart Eubank, showed what a true champion he was to all his critics even after all those battles with Nigel, Watson, Collins, Calzaghe and could still perform at this elite level at the end of his career. What a great champion.

Brutal fight, 100% heart went into this fight from both boxers, I'm a massive Eubank fan but I have to admit Thompson may have just clinched it by a point. Hell I suppose you could of possibly given it a draw but throughout the later rounds Thompson just landed and threw a little more than Eubank. Still an awesome fight, no laziness from these boxers and some truly great punches thrown by both.

Some amazing bodywork by Sr here. Fuck me this man was as tough as they come.

So Eubank nearly beat a prime Thompson. An old Thompson beat David Haye. And David Haye beat Nicolae Valuev. Does that make Eubank the best world Heavyweight Champion Britain never had?

I used to hate eubank start of career but started ton like him as time went on. He's guts and bulls were second to none. Man was solid. People forget eubank life tough at the start

It could have gone either way, but a edge of the seat fight. Thompson was strong but seems didn’t have the same chin as Eubank but showed his worth in the second half of the fight. Even though the decision went against Eubank, I doff my hat to you, Sir for coming up two weight divisions and giving it your all, with a knockdown to your credit in this fight, you could of had Thompson down a few times, but we caught by your own admiration of your own work! But that was Eubank… a prideful showman, who ultimately won the respect of his nemesis and his haters… GREAT FIGHT!!!

Thompson throws a weak jab at 3:10 and Eubank counters with a combo, a left lands on Carl`s body, pretty good by Eubank`s negative standards. Eubank sets up body shots with a double jab at 3:17, this the best I`ve seen Chris up to that point.

That is a great fight.

Can only imagine how sore they both felt while crawling out of bed the next morning lol. Respect to them for the way they both stuck in and refused to be beaten. Quality fight from quality fighters.

Eubank should have finished Thompson, cuz after that, he handed the victory to him on a silver plate. Props to Thompson for nit giving up. Legendary physical conditionning!

A prime Eubank could have destroyed Thompson, no doubt about that. What a warrior he was!

Calzaghe was a great fighter but Eubank took that fight at 2 weeks notice, and he still gave Joe a tough fight. In my view watching a lot of Eubank fights the commentary team never gave him enough credit. The same goes for his son

The best chin in boxing history and Eubank could have potentially ended it earlier in the fight. The amount of power he carried from starting at middle weight to cruiser is immense. He just needed a bit of a better defense to take away getting hit with the right so often

Who the hell was at light heavyweight to where Eubank decided to go all the way to cruiserweight? Physically he looked as good as humanly possible for someone his size moving that far up. More or less how he always looked but much broader in the back and didn't seem to sacrifice any speed...but ffs Thompson was just so much bigger, to the point where unless Chris stood next to him at super middle you wouldn't know they were in the same weight class

Eubank was always a natural light heavy. Especially by his mid 20s. He was just one of those great athletic fighters that could cut weight and still perform. So moving up to cruiser weight was really only one jump according to his natural anatommy. Exactly like James Toney.
