I had the extreme honor of seeing Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington perform together with my 11 year old son. We were dirt poor but I won the tickets...a beautiful memory. RIP to them both....suicidal thoughts are a slow cancer of mental illness.

Chris Cornell was the singer of Soundgarden, part of that Four Horsemen of Grunge that came out in the early 90s.....Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam. His voice has some really gross range and grit. This is a really good song, but you can listen to some other songs on the album if you want to hear him really let loose....something like Show Me How to Live.

This song is very haunting to listen to after his death. It's essentially about him waiting for death, and Chris was known to suffer from depression, so to know years ago that he wrote a song like this about waiting for death to come and take him leaves me with a very sad feeling. The song is beautiful but it takes on even more weight after his tragic passing

Fell on Black Days and Nothing Compares 2 U both from his Sirius XM live studio show are some of the best showcases of his voice. Nothing Compares 2 U gets all the love because of what the song is and his rendition is so heartfelt, but I think his vocals shine more on that Sirius version of Fell on Black Days. Also, Hunger Strike or Say Hello to Heaven both by Temple of The Dog are great showcases of his vocals…along with Eddie from Pearl Jam. He was also in Soundgarden back in the day, when I was growing up. He was in lots of bands, I forget the number. Anyway, Soundgarden and Audioslave are my favs he was in. He messed up his larynx singing too, but he was SO GREAT!! He was called, The Voice by some, I don't remember where it originated from. It seems like he was called the Golden Voice, as well, idk. His suicide is greatly contested by many, including his wife. The medication he was on could make you more depressed, even suicidal. I know she had it in the courts, I don't recall if it has reached a verdict, or whatnot. He was soulful, beautiful, and extremely talented, in any event!! Amanda

The Bass player described that the song is about an old man waiting for death. He sits in a house alone after all his friends and family have passed on before him. He is waiting to be reunited with them. Chris Cornell said this song was about finding God through means other than the traditional monotheistic way of thinking. Which both makes sense based on this phrase. “To anyone who will take me to haven. To a place I recall, I was there so long ago.“. Heaven in this case would be being with the people metaphorically lost. To anyone who will take me there makes sense in the context of getting to heaven in a non traditional monotheistic way. Also that video is shot is Jimi Hendrix’s old house where he wrote “Purple Haze.”.

Yes, he was!!! I miss his presence on this earth so much!! They're all talented, but Chris and Tom definitely stood out!! Especially in this one. I've listened to this song and many Soundgarden songs so much, that if they were in cassette or cd form, they'd be worn out, lol!! I also love Rage, of course. My teen years consisted of A LOT of music, and Rage Against the Machine and Soundgarden were heavy in my playlists, or mixed tapes back then, haha!! I still listen to tons of music, and they still remain. I've widened my music horizons over the years to include so many amazing types of music. So, I really love seeing others do the same by listening to “my" music!! Take Care, Amanda

Sad thing about this particular track is that he's literally singing to death (the "Grim Reaper") waiting for him.. "In your house, alone to be.. Room by room, patiently. I'll wait for you here, like a stone.." So beautifully written and sung, but so haunting at the same time. R.I.P Chris Cornell, the greatest vocalist of all time 💐💯

@@brcage either way, he is talking about death. There are certain interviews where he talks about it in depth. He was very curious about the afterlife and all that years before he died. Edit: read the lyrics carefully, specifically the verses, not the chorus. Almost every line is referencing death.

@@angeladavis9254 and what difference does that make? None, he's still talking about death. Why is that so hard to understand? lol I guess if you can relate it's easier to understand? Maybe? I mean, it's not like suicide/death is a foreign subject to him in his music (with both bands).

I subscribed to your channel today. Strictly because of your reaction to Tool's 46 and 2. You did your due diligence. I appreciate that. Music is a journey. Tool are the GOAT's when it comes to this. To go deeper and deeper into the message of the music's meaning and lesson is just as important as the auditory experience (which ROCKS). GOOD JOB! 🌬🎯

First time watching one of your videos. Really like you “break-down” style, more than just a “reaction”. I’ll definitely be checking out more videos. Chris is part of that 80-90s rock era where the songs meant one thing to them, but they encourage fans to take any meaning that helped them from a song. Before you could just look up a meaning, you would be in your car or laying on the floor listening to music and just contemplating meaning in lyrics.

And of course there's Chris' very Robert Plant vocalisation in early Soundgarden songs, for eg; in Beyond the Wheel, Germany, early 90's, as he builds up to the line, then just lets rip at 'Mother, who's your man.... etc' the ability, power and belting strength at that range he hits is phenomenal, defs in Plants territory and just so raw and unrefined yet, still finding his voices true potential. What a tragic loss, depression is no joke. RIP legend.

You're the first reactor I've seen immediately catch that he's reading the bible, or at least say it out loud. This is one of my favorite songs, so I've seen quite a lot of reactions to it.... These lyrics are indeed based on a bible message. John 14:2-3 1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; and believe in Me as well. 2 In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
