Man, that's what is so cool about good music...it can cut right through all the differences and BS in life (some differences that may be real & some we create in our own minds), but those differences disappear when a great song connects with you....it'll make you realize we're all the same inside & we all want the same types of things in life. Music like Chris Cornell gave us, brings ALL kinds of people together that can relate to the feelings or emotions in a song....Happy, Sad, Love, Betrayal, Anger, Hopelessness, etc. As a guitarist in a band a few years ago, I've seen it from the stage many times...on the faces of people from all walks of life. There's No better feeling ! - And just so you'll know, I'm a 50 y/o White man ...born & raised here in Birmingham, Alabama. I hope you keep on listening to Chris Cornell's music...his solo stuff and his music with Audioslave and Soundgarden is all fantastic !

@@Alan-in-Bama Great to hear from u, I'm also 50, plus an artist, I rap, or poetry depends on how people listen to it. I grew up listening to all types of music, not knowing what color the person was, it was music, and I loved it, music has no color, I thank my God for keeping where I'm at now, because the only race that matters to me, is the human race, so when I perform, I write music to get us closer, as one

@@shortyroc6798 oh ok, Cool man - So you were a Generation X teenager too…the 80’s music we got to enjoy was exactly what we’re both talking about…. The music styles were all over the place. It was created by all varieties of people , all ages and from all around the world … and it connected to everybody. That’s what made it so good ! I listened to everything…. Metallica, Van Halen, LL Cool J, NWA, Sting, INXS, etc, etc…. and I still do. And yeah, rap, rock, metal…. Doesn’t matter. If you can get your expressions out and connect with people, that’s what it’s all about. There’s no “color” to it. Like you said, it’s about the human experience and emotions we feel in life. Good luck to you man !

Met and worked with a few rock "stars". The few times I met this man was always amazing. He was a true "star" who was humble and was a true human who treated people with respect. The way he treated me the times we met was truly special. He always seemed to want to know how life has been since the last time we talked. The last time I met him, he saw me backstage right before he took the stage and gave me a warm smile and said hello. Acknowledging me with so much about to happen. He wad a good man. I still hate that he is not here. RIP Chris.

As I watched Chris age over the decades I had to admit that Jim Morrison was actually losing his looks before he even turned 27 whereas, Chris just continued to keep lookin HOT 🔥 literally right up until they reported that he "passed away." Chris had a sweet nature about him too. I just think Chris Cornell is the most beautiful man in every way possible. He is and will always be a Legend.

Chris Cornell… a rare gem! Beautiful, humble, angelic voice, and gifted beyond belief! You truly left the world a little colder when you left us but your legacy provides enough warmth to hold on until we meet again. Depression as an illness is deadly. When you are down in the dump when you have everything in the world to be grateful for is incredibly painful and hopeless. Wanting to die surrounded by people who love you is confusing and soul shattering. I wish therapists, counselors, clergy, parents, and other loving people would educate themselves on mental health issues. Perhaps I have been so successful as a therapist is because I know what depression, trauma, and anxiety feels like. I wish someone had reached Chris!

Well, I see trees of green and red roses too I'll watch them bloom for me and you And I think to myself What a wonderful world Well, I see skies of blue and I see clouds of white And the brightness of day I like the dark And I think to myself what a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky And also on the faces of people passing by I see friends shaking hands saying How do you do? They're really saying I, I love you I hear babies cry and I watch them grow They'll learn much more then we'll know And I think to myself what a wonderful world World Someday I wish upon a star Wake up where the clouds are far behind me Where trouble melts like lemon drops High above the chimney top That's where you'll find me Oh, somewhere over the rainbow Way up high And the dreams that you dare to Why oh, why can't I?

Brian Dawkins .. it does not seem to make sense. . there is sadness and anger together, and unanswered "why???" I copied below what I posted on another site... I identify a lot with his lyrics and his band. A couple of relatives unfortunately died through suicide over the years. Depression (ie clinical depression; not the sad moods we all experience) is a disease of the mind, which destroys our perception that we could be happy (even if a person superficially appears to have everything/success/etc) , and even destroys our self-preservation instinct in that deepest darkest moment of emptiness. So they, unwittingly, choose the worst solution to their intense emotional pain, and we lose a loved one. RIP, Chris.

PLEASE pay attention to your surrounding now. If you hear a cry for help, please attend to it immediately. If you hear a ping of danger in your gut. PLEASE pay attention to it right here, right NOW. There HAS never, and never will be, a voice that compares to this rock wizards magical vocals. He was the complete package. Singing, composing, instrumentals, he did it all!! I will never stop mourning the loss of the greatest singer/composer that ever walked the face of the earth. He made this world a better place for having been here but so much sadder for having lost him. The pioneering imprint he made on music will never die. I pray that your continued journey, is as happy for you, as your much too brief existence here, was for those of us who adored you, Chris Cornell!! To say we will miss you doesn't come close to articulating the loss and the voids in our hearts that you have left us with. There will never be another to fill your shoes, EVER!!! Thank you for leaving your phenomenal artistic genius with us with which to remember you by, even though it just isn't enough without you here~~ Rock in Peace, sweet angel!! Say Hello to Heaven and save me a seat next to you!! You will always be the TRUE garden of sound, and we, mere mortals, the slaves to your audio immortality! Please promise, it's not goodbye in a world of higher truths!

I can listen to his music any-time, any-day, any-where and instantly connect with it. His voice/vocals were amazing and beautiful. He felt deep and certainly expressed it in his songs. It still breaks my heart that hes no longer with us, gone way too soon. Prayers for his family. Somehow I'm sure he's singing in heaven.

He was one of the sexiest, most talented singers/songwriters and nicest person you could ever meet. Not too many of those around. I love ya Chris. You're probably charming the wings off of angels right now.

Baby, I used to watch your flowers grow Now it's raining and all your petals turns to stone I've been praying, I turn around and see my rose But you faded, you left, me now it's time to go You're like a diamond and I'm like glass Like oil and water we always clash Sometimes my confessions are hard for me I'll tell you now I'm setting you free That's why I'm long gone, long gone You need to let me fly alone That's why I'm long gone, long gone You need to let me fly alone That's why I'm long gone, long gone You need to let me fly alone That's why I'm long gone, long gone It may be to late our time is done Baby, I think you've got your timing wrong Hating, exploring this while we're riding on And it's crazy to think that I could be reborn If you saved me now it's too late and you'll never know You're like a diamond and I'm like glass Like oil and water we always clash Sometimes my confessions are hard for me I'll tell you now I'm setting you free That's why I'm long gone, long gone You need to let me fly alone That's why I'm long gone, long gone You need to let me fly alone That's why I'm long gone, long gone You need to let me fly alone That's why I'm long gone, long gone It may be to late our time is done With broken wings (with broken wings) I can't fly (I can't fly) I'm gonna need you to save me, angel of mine With broken wings (with broken wings) I can't fly (I can't fly) I'm gonna need you to save me, angel of mine That's why I'm long gone, long gone You need to let me fly alone That's why I'm long gone, long gone You need to let me fly alone That's why I'm long gone, long gone You need to let me fly alone That's why I'm long gone, long gone It may be to late our time is done You're like a diamond and I'm like glass Like oil and water we always clash Sometimes my confessions are hard for me I'll tell you now I'm setting you free RIP Chris Cornell

Oh I how regret not listening to all of this man's songs sooner. Fantastic voice, songwriter, sounded like a wonderful person too. I did like a couple of his tunes growing up but I didn't listen to enough to become a fan. I'm appreciate him writing and performing his music, he's left a wonderful legacy. Shame he felt he had to do what he did, but as a mental health sufferer I have empathy for people like Chris Cornell. RIP Chris Cornell and thank you.
