When he died i had to sit down. I texted my wife that he had passed. She texted back "im sorry for your loss" which i couldn't help but think was sarcasm. So texted "shut up im serious!" And she said "im being serious". I felt bad cause she really knew how much i looked up to him as a singer and songwriter. It made me appreciate her more.

here is my dilema, they were so so so great and unique, but look how bad it ended, so I admire the musical stuff, but u get so hooked on how good they are, that u leard from their lives too. The point is that you either learn from their mistakes or follow them. They had it all and nothing at the same time. Not sure if makes sense what im saying, but as I suffer from panic attacks and drepresions is, that i follow this people and look how they end... and yes in the other hand I could only try to admire the music and thats it. moving on, but as i said before, u get hooked on them too.

I saw Chris live 3 times with Soundgarden (for the reunion tour) and 2 times solo and also Chester live with LP maybe 2 or 3 month before his death, just one freaking year away from Cornell's one :-(. 2 of my favourite singers and Artists. 2 great voices that went away but are still there with us everyday. I never knew you, I saw you only once at an acoustic concert on one of the coldest days in my city. You were sitting with your guitar and a couple of candles as a backdrop. Your voice illuminated the stage. The lyrics of your songs were the warmth for that chilly night. Remembering you today on the day of your death makes me very melancholic, like remembering an older brother who is no longer here, a friend who left without saying goodbye. Now that I am a father, I show your songs to my son so that he can have the same friend that I will always have since you will be immortal in my memory.

"What can I do, I am the only thing I really have, at all..". Chris Cornell your words, voice and music will never be forgotten.

For a guy who wrote harmonically complex songs, I always thought this a real high point of Chris' solo stuff. Beautiful and complex harmonically , but sounds deceptively simple because you can sing the melody.through the changes. It's like all great jazz standards and Beatles songs.

I remember hearing this on the radio when the song was first released. I liked it then, but all these years later it's like a drink of cold fresh water when compared to so much of the crap that other "artists" release. Thanks, Chris, for all the great music you made and continue to make.

He’d be with Chester, he wasn’t so close to Kurt Kurt was difficult to get along with. He chose to be with courtney because they both felt like the world was against them but in a different way than Chester and Chris. They were more stable more educated dare I say they had families that at that time were considered normal like my family hence my 30 year addiction but been clean since my abbususive mother died and now I see clearly what could have been if she’d not lived so long. I got a 1st at st Martins college where Damien hurst , Pulp Blur etc went but had no self belief no dream. Talent flounders if you had no mum or even a sister backing u. Kids need one person to believe in them then they will fly. Kurt had nobody but his aunt did help a bit his mum /dad did too. He wasn’t kicked out for good aged 13. The british police found me a thousand miles away in Victoria stationer asleep outside the police station because I was frightened I’d get raped again or beaten robbed , even my shoes had been robbed. I found someone who took me in and put me in school. My mum said she had no missing daughter when police rang her. I was 13. Can you imagine what that felt like? Well I heard Black hole sun years later when I met the love of my life Michael Miller. Yup jimmy millers son. He was homeless in London when his dad was working with primal scream on Screamadelica I watched them record in Olympic. Bobby made me inject him because he had no clue how to back then. He had a habit but had Yes Men who did everything for him. Jimmy loved their musicality he gave rocks that stones feel but they Should I write a book? Are any of you writers? I’m talking this to a friend now as I’m not good at typing but I lived with a lot of bands that were huge back then because I worked for the,m. I’m never a slag never slept with any of them i was with Michael till he died from his problems. Please someone help me get Michael Miller jimmy Miller and my story out there. We seen so many amazing things partied with nirvana soundgarden Tad mudhoney loads of U.K. bands, backstreet boys ? Can anyone be interested in a 50 year old who lived alongside these guys?

So sad to say goodbye to such a great artist.. Grew up listening to Chris and he's always provided a great escape route for me with his music. I've always felt that I wasn't alone when I heard him sing, and that the evolution of his music has helped me grow throughout the years. It's hard to say if there will be someone talented enough or brave enough to fill his shoes... RIP Chris, you will be greatly missed.

With headphones on, eyes closed, listening to the lyrics, I get chills through my whole body as each verse passes. Beautiful song, poignant lyrics, awesome melody. A++

It’s so sad that he isn’t with us anymore, I remember hearing about his death at a time where I hardly knew who he was. Now that I know how great of a musician he was, it makes my heart sink to think that someone so great is gone now.

Watching all things Cornell again tonight. 😂this is why I don’t sleep. Lord he was amazing!!

Nathaniel Badger one of the best male vocalist , I'll agree, and so does EVERY major label, magazine, paper, I mean come on how can you say under rated when the man is on every single top vocalist list that anyone puts out. So , yes I agree one badass singer. No not under rated. He's a perennial top 10 vocalist every time they, meaning anyone, comes up with a list ranking them.

I am happy because at least when my children or my grandsons ask me who was my favorite artist I will answer Chris Cornell. Rock in Peace dude, thanks for everything... the world is a worse place now without you, but I understand that you were too good to stay in this place anymore.

He’s one of the few artists I’ve listened to that gives me chills every time I listen to him. At least the recordings immortalize his talent for everyone to hear, that’s the best part.

Chris was awsome in all those bands and in solo. Both bands were 2 of my favourites bands of alltime. They had great names (and it's rare) with significant and simple meaning (thanks to Chris) and amazing songs that sounded like no one else. I remeber watching this when it was released on MTV. Probably the very first contact with Chris that I had... was about 11 yrs old or something. Still remember that momment, still remember the feeling of amusement even though I couldnt rly understand what was I seeing and listening to. Chris Cornell, the underrated best rock n roll singer of all time.

He truly sends chills down my body. One of the most amazing pure voices in rock n roll history.

R.I.P Chris Cornell you are an icon, the best voice of all the times...

Considering Chris Cornell did the title song for the Casino Royale film, this song really has another 'Bondish-feel' that would have suited another Daniel Craig movie really well!

Especially the lyrics "She's going to change the world, But she can't change me" referring to Bond trying to find a long term relationship with someone who understands him although he will never back down from his Secret Agent status lifestyle :)

Always loved this song. Sounds like the guitar is tuned down a full step which makes it sound awesome.

HOW was this NOT a big hit? When it first came out it had awesome drums, lyrics. Sound and vocals. The guitar has a sitar quality to it. Its one of my favorites. Were people expecting Soungarden? The Beatles proved thst change is the KEY to successful music. The drffetent time signatures , the sitar like guiar ? Was it just ahead of its time ? R.I.P Chris Cornell , u took a musical direction change that only those that understand the true beauty of music would get!! Brian Wilson did it also and it nearly destroyed him! On a side note but related, the same damn thhing happened to the Beastie Boys when the changed direction with " Pauls Boutique " ANOTHER album that was ahead of its time ! R.I.P Adam.....

MY goodness the most beautiful song i ever heard in my life, i really mean it, not just because emotionally feeling of his death... what a VOICE !!! where else could we find such a VOICE !!! ...tears...

Chris was and is awesome. You can read stuff into lyrics later. You never really know what is next but sad. He was flat out great and very intense.
