Chosenness of the Jews in the Qur'an with Dr Louay Fatoohi

Dr Louay Fatoohi's personal KZread channel / @louay.fatoohi his blog www.louayfatoohi.com/
The Hebrew Bible presents the Israelites as God’s perpetually chosen people. Historically, Christians claimed that the Church replaced the Jews as God’s chosen people, but in the last two centuries, a strong movement has developed that considers Israel to still be chosen, in addition to the Church. Christianity inherited from Judaism its misunderstanding of “chosen” as meaning “best”, which is irreconcilable with the history of both faiths. On the other hand, discussions of this concept in the Qur’an consistently conflate different terms and concepts. This video brings new insights to show the Qur’an’s clear, consistent, and compelling explanation of the chosenness of the Israelites. It reveals the misrepresentation of this concept in Judaism, which Christianity inherited. It concludes that the chosenness of Israel ended when the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent by Allah as the last Prophet.

Respectfully, I found the scholarly knowledge of Louay Fatoohi as thought-provoking. I'm a simple Christian believer. I like when Dr. Fatoohi mentioned individuality, because our perception of "chosenness" should have a strong correlation with the concept of God's "gift". That's my own view. Respectfully...

The secret about converts being special in Dawah: Surat Al hadeed O you who believe, have fear of displeasing God, and believe in His Prophet. He will give you twice as much of His bounty and place a light for you to walk in, and forgive you, for God is forgiving and kind; (28) So that the people of the Book may know that they have not the least power over the bounty of God, and that the bounty is wholly in the hands of God to give whosoever He please, for God is the master of infinite bounty. In my upbringing As a Christian I was taught that they broke the covenant by worshipping Baal (gold/money) and that they were specifically told by God not to do this. Well they’re still betraying that covenant (as are their allies) - it is abundantly clear they all they worship is gold…. and they want all the worlds gold. Evil has entered through that desire. All consideration of humanity has been trampled underfoot as they pursue this

As an Israelite and an historian who has had the privilege to study history from primary sources available to serious academics I can assure you that our Torah starts with Genesis ie human origins IE Black people and that we are on a Black planet and that we are responsible for everything associated with civilization and culture throughout history wherever we find modernity. Socalled nonblack people have only been on the planet for six to ten thousand years and have no known origins IE they have yet to explain how they came into being and where they came from. They are not light skinned Black people as some would have us believe. Why are they concerned about our family history and our relationship with OUR G-d? They are basically saying we know we don't have a history or heritage apart from barbarism, so we will pretend that a book about a particular group of Black people is not about Black people but Caucasians. Really demonic savagery.

Please see Anacalypsis by G Higgins and Black Sambo documentary on KZread. Ask yourself, why do socalled nonblack people concern themselves with a family history that has nothing to do with anyone else? Religion was created to usurp our divine authority. Our Father only loves Israelites and could care less about anyone else. This is in our records. We are the rightful rulers of the world. Actual history proves this fact. discipline 125%. Greetings, blessings to you I want to share something. The Children of Israel were descendants of Jacob, most of them lived in the Arabian peninsula at that time. Meanwhile, children of Ismail settled in Mecca and were honored to be the custodians of the Kaaba, the holiest of the holy. (Notice the situation above is the prefix why the future jews ( who were not Israelites) has to create their priesthood books to exagregated about children of Israil as the chosen people) Jacob and their tribes were living nomadic, at the time of Joseph, Jacob and his 12 sons and followers settled in a city in the southwest of the Arabian peninsula. Al Yahud or Jews in the plural form is different from the children of Israel, Yahudiya or Jews never come from the direct lineage of Israel. The truth is that the Jews were the tribes who carried out acts of resistance and ultimately fought against the prophets of the children of Israel, such as Moses, David, Solomon, Jesus, the son of Mary and the believers among the children of Israel, many of these prophets were killed by the Jews (yahudiya), the Jews took the priesthood of the prophets of the Children of Israel, namely Zacharie, Yohanes (Yahya), but they failed to kill Isa, son of Maryam. The Jews said that they were the children of Judah, this claim was false because it was the jews themselves who corrupted the holy books of the prophets, they made their own priesthood books rather than the scrolls of Musa. Peace

I strongly recommend hosting Dr. Sami Ameri. He has many books responding to suspicions and lies about the credibility of Islam, the Qur’an, and the Prophet Muhammad. He is a professor of comparative religions, as well as Dr. Abdullah Al-Ajiri, who has several books on atheism, and Ahmed Al-Sayed, the latter of whom I do not think speaks English, unlike Dr. Sami and Dr. Abdullah.

An Israelite can be Jewish, Christian, or Muslim, but not all Israelites are Jews. Therefore, the promise of the Holy Land to Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH) is based on righteousness, not solely on being an Israelite. Being an Israelite does not guarantee immunity from punishment for sins, as seen in the case of the Israelites after their sin against Jesus (PBUH). They were punished by God and scattered around the world.

I think the earliest convenant is the adam convenant. In that time god was well known so the only command was not to come near a certain tree. Then noah (a few more laws), then moses (more laws), the prophets, ..Jesus (clarification), and finally Muhammad convenant which concludes it all. { وَإِذۡ أَخَذۡنَا مِنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ مِيثَٰقَهُمۡ وَمِنكَ وَمِن نُّوحٖ وَإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَى ٱبۡنِ مَرۡيَمَۖ وَأَخَذۡنَا مِنۡهُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظٗا } [Surah Al-Aḥzāb: 7] Yusuf Ali: And remember We took from the prophets their covenant: As (We did) from thee: from Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary: We took from them a solemn covenant:

Not like that: Before Adam was created, Allah said to the Angels: am going to create a vicegerent on earth. That means Adam and his wife were meant to be on earth and Not in heaven. So the forbidding of the tree and appearance of satan to him, was not a covenant but a trial and a lesson to him. Adam learnt many important lessons from this episode including: 1: Learning his true enemy (satan). 2: Learning the consequence of disobeying Allah. 3: Forgiveness and return to Allah. The convent with Adam starts here: Quran 2:38 We said: “Get down all of you from this place (the Paradise), then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve. From then on he was suppose to obey Allah, receive the guidance from Him and if he does that, he will see No fear or sorrow. Not only that but they will return to paradise again.

Another subtlety is Allah's choice of the word للناس (FOR the people) instead of the phrase من الناس (FROM the people). This shows that the believers are not the best on virtue of being part of a nation. It shows instead that the best nation is one which will want people from other nations to join it, such that the 'nation' is defined as a spiritual one, as opposed to an ethnic one.

My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant. Genesis 17:13. Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant. Genesis 17:14 Not only did Ishmael receive the covenant first, before Isaac who had not been born, Ishmael was born in Caanan and lived in Caanan for about 14 years before Isaac was born. 23 And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him. 24 And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. 25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. 26 In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son. 27 And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.

"We are the best". As a Christian believer, I don't claim to be the best. In my understanding, we are chosen by God's love for us. No matter if we are Muslims or Christians or Jews, we are "treated individually". I really appreciate this scholarly information. I hope each of us can seek to be "pure of heart". God is faithful even though we are disobedient. Jesus, the beloved Prophet, was chosen by God the Father. Our perception of "chosenness" should follow the "best" example, Jesus Christ Himself. That's my own view. Blessings and peace to all Muslims and Christians.

But often our goal for peace is not attainable and we become disappointed. But I think the desire for peace begins individually. We need to reconsider our own faults and misunderstanding. If we don't accept our individual responsibility to be peacemakers, then we can't expect any positive changes. It's warming to see the influence of scriptures in regards to peace. The only true God is not a "warrior god". So I try to avoid the pitfalls of associating a "warrior god" with our own worldviews of justice. The "wolf in sheep's clothing" comes to destroy. Excellent research and very impressive presentation. I am so glad to see my two Revert Muslim brothers discussing these issues in detail. In Quran "UMMAH" does not mean a Nation. For Nation the word is "QOM". UMMAH is a group of people may be in hundreds or millions in number who follow "A SPECIFIC AND ONE RELIGION" collectively. In a QOM you can have various Ethnic and various Religious identities but in a UMMAH you may have different Ethnic identies but your Religious identity must be ONE. Allah SWT never gave a free hand or licence to any nation that they do whaever they like collectively and still remain Best or Chosen One. This is a corrupted believe injected in previous sriptures. You very rightly said that on judgement day we all will be questioned and judged individually. You may belong to any Ethnic identity and lived during any time period of history if you believed in true teachings of Allah SWT sent through any of his true Prophets you are a Momin or Muslim and on judgement day you will be considered part of one UMMAH no matter how many centuries and millinium you lived apart from eachother. Allah SWT gave this UMMAH of believers of all ages one identity and that is ISLAM collectively and MUSLIM individually. It is same from Adam PBUH, Ibrahim PBUH and till end of this world. Before Quran or in earlier times when Quran was revealing obviously it was not spread in whole world at once so anyone of that time or before if followed the true Torah, Injil and Zabur were believers "Muslims" of that time. But once anyone who call themselves Yahud, Nasarah, Saab'een or Majusi they seperate themselve from Islam and Muslim identity so they have different implications than true believers of earlier scriptures. They all are following the corrupted versions of their religions thats why they adopted these differen identities. Today a believer or "Momin" is not someone who believe in any God of any scripture but they must believe in God introduced by Prophet Muhammad PBUH through Quran. Similarly a disbeliever or "Kafir" is not just someone who deny God but he is one also who does not accept Prophet Muhammad PBUH and his teachings. If anyone who does not get the message of Quran and Prophet Muhammad PBUH in past, present and future then their salvation or punishment depends on their other believes they lived with. But trust me today all previous religions are corrupted at their core so they surely need to know about ISLAM taught by Prophet Muhammad PBUH to become a BELIEVER again. We muslims, followers of Prophet Muhammad PBUH are also need to follow true teachings of Quran to get salvation. Just being Muslim for the sake of it or born in a Muslim family is not enough for salvation. If after Prophet Muhammad PBUH today any follower of those religions Yahud, Nasara, Saab'een, Majusi and polytheist believe in Allah SWT and judgement day as mentioned in Quran they wont have any fear on judgement day. But one cannot take guidance from Quran without accepting Prophet Muhammad PBUH as Allah's last and final messenger. So they become MUSLIM as you two are. Love and respect. Jazak Allah Kher

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BANI ISRAEL, JEWS, YAHUD and AHL E KITAB. The word “إِسْرَائِيلَ” is a combination of two-word Isra and El. Isra has root word “ا س ر” and from this root word it means prisoner and El is God so we can translate Israel as Prisoner of God or Prisoned for God. If we change this word in Arabic it will become “ASRA ULLAH” meaning “Prisoner of Allah”. We know that Allah SWT in His divine wisdom made his prophet Yusuf PBUH to be prisoned several years in Egypt. So, in my humble opinion the “Israel” in Quran is referred to Prophet Yusuf PBUH and Bani Israel is a reference to children of Yusuf PBUH not children of Yaqoob PBUH. There are some mind-boggling similarities and connections in the Quran in reference of Prophet Yusuf PBUH and Israel. There is only one Surah in Quran named Surah Yusuf and there is only one Surah by the name Surah Bani Israel. The individual person “Israel” named twice in Quran Surah Al Imran Ayat 93, Surah Maryam Ayat 58 and Prophet Yusuf PBUH name is also occurred twice in the Quran Surah Al Anam Ayat 84 and and Surah Ghafir (Momin) Ayat 34 besides Sura Yusuf and Aal e Yaqub is also appeared twice in glorious Quran Surah Yusuf Ayat 6 and Surah Maryam Ayat 6. And the most important fact is that Surah Bani Israel has 111 Ayat and Surah Yusuf has 111 Ayat as well. So, Bani Israel means “Children of Yusuf”. JEWS OR YAHUD Today when we say “JEWS” or “YAHUD” it is understood as a group of people who are mainly from the progeny of Prophet Yaqub PBUH. But is this true? If you read the story of Prophet Musa PBUH which is in great detail in the Quran you won’t find the word YAHUD even a single time in this story. What does it mean? It means YAHUD were not part of that struggle and journey and they mixed up later with Bani Israel and other tribes. I have proven from the Quran that YAHUD are progeny of Qom E Hud and they mixed up with Bani Israel when Talut was appointed as a king. Talut and his followers belonged to YAHUD meaning Qom e Hud. You will find all references of Yahud in the Quran after the timeline of Prophet Dawood PBUH and Prophet Sulaiman PBUH. We know that Khazars or “ASHKANZI” converted to Judaism after almost 2 centuries of Prophet Muhammad PBUH and after revelation of Quran. So how can we say Yahud of Quran apply on Ashkanazi jews as well? They are progeny of Gog and Magog. So today when we say “JEWS” it means a group of people who are comprises of or mix of mainly from the progeny of 11 sons of prophet Yaqub PBUH and Prophet Yusuf, Progeny of Qom e Hud and progeny of Gog and Magog and few others who converted to Judaism and they claim that they follow Prophet Musa PBUH. Today JEWS population in the world is around 15 million and I believe that the majority of them are from the progeny of Aad meaning Qom e Hud and from the progeny of Khazars, Gog and Magog. A very minor percentage among them belong to the progeny of 11 sons of prophet Yaqub PBUH and Prophet Yusuf PBUH. They are classified as ASHKANZIE JEWS, SEPHARDIC JEWS, MIZRAHI JEWS and EITHOHOPIAN JEWS. They can further be divided according to the country they belong to and sect they following. Today "Israeli" means a citizen of the country Israel. AHL E KITAB When Quran addresses people as Ahl e Kitab it can mean followers of all previous books revealed by Allah SWT to his messengers before Quran. They are Torah, Zaboor and Injeel. It also means that the followers of these books of all ages, like before and after the revelation of Quran so if someone became a Christian or Jew after revelation of Quran in past or in future, can be considered as AHL E KITAB. Not only Israel but Esa of Quran and Jesus of Bible and all other prophets mentioned in Quran have different meanings of names than the Prophets mentioned with similar names in Bible. Bible is corrupted many times and all stories of prophets are modified, corrupted and to a certain extent blasphemous. Bani Israel was once chosen people but when the went astray they became the cursed one. Now they all have only one and last chance to repent and to get salvation if they accrpt Prophet Muhammad PBUH as last and final messenger and take guidance from Quran. Jazak Allah Kher
