the Ballade No 1 is one of the most iconic piano pieces of all time, but maybe just me, I honestly don't think it's a good piece for the violin, possibly it's just the dynamic range of the violin, it cannot express the different mood that you go through when you listen to the ballade, it just all sounds the same when played on the violin, you cannot get the sad, serious, and light sections of the piece. It's still an interesting collaboration, i wonder how a cello/piano pairing for this piece would sound? Bravo!

with the violin as accompaniment just playing notes here and there would be much better. as you said, the violin cannot capture the tone and emotion of the piece, and especially the coda.

@@_astro6213 yea, its an interesting collaboration, but i think the violin doesn't really work well with this piece

if the coda were to be more accurate to the original score it would definitely sound better.

@@---hu2ss well of course, but i still dont think the violin would be able to capture the raw emotion due to the limitations

Well, this version puts a lot of double stops or even triple, and to me it's not very pleasant to hear in the coda. A version without them an letting the piano do them I would like it more

Who's the pianist?

I feel so bad for the pianist - he’s the accompanist in a piece where he’d otherwise be the star. Fair play to him for going for this though.

I believe the coda is best suited for the piano to lead. The violin can’t capture the dynamics and the tone of the coda.

agreed. violin/piano collaboration is an interesting take for the ballade no 1 but it just doesn't really work well with the violin imo, ballade is honestly strictly a piano piece and can't really be played and expressed with any other instrument
