The arrangement by Ysaye was made in 1916 as a wartime project, while in exile in London.
This piece is a part of a program inspired by "Your Lie in April" and music in Japanese anime films.

Maybe because I've listened to Yuna Shinohara's recording of this piece so many times that I'm still not used to the slower tempo interpretation of this (Elly Suh's performance is also another one) but the fact that this is just one of the very, VERY few live performance videos of this means a lot more people needs to play this. I love the original piano sonata but there's something magical about this violin arrangement. Thank you two for your amazing performance. 😊
After finding Yuna Shinohara's recording of this piece, it quickly became one of my favorites, and I'm so glad another performance of this wonderful work has popped up! I really don't know why this arrangement is so obscure, it's absolutely gorgeous and so powerful.
It's refreshing finding another interpretation of this rare piece, fabulous performance!
