IRCC will conduct category-based Express Entry draws based on occupation and French language proficiency. It announced 82 prioritized occupations in 2023 with the following distribution: 1) French Language Proficiency (TEF Canada 7 to pass) 2) Health (35 occupations) 3) STEM (24 occupations) 4) Trade (10 occupations) 5) Transport (10 occupations) 6) Agriculture & Agri-food (3 occupations) If you work in one of 82 prioritized occupations, you have easy PR. High CRS score becomes less important. You need 6 months of Canadian (or aboard) experience to qualify instead of 1 year. If you are not in one of the prioritized occupations, you will need high CRS score or PNP for ITA (inviation to apply). It is expected that minimum CRS scores will increase as seats are diverted to prioritized occupations. There is no guarantee that the occupations list will remain the same when you are ready to apply Express Entry in 2025/2026. In this regard, Canada is becoming Australia.
IRCC just conducted its first ever category-based Express Entry draw today (June 28th) and invited 500 people from health occupations. Min CRS score was 476. In the previous all purpose Express Entry draw, min CRS score was 486. Next category-based draw will be on Jul 5th for STEM occupations.
Quebec's education system is different from the rest of Canada. High school graduation is in grade 11, followed by 2 years of public college (CEGEP), then 3-4 years of university. Starting in Fall 2024, graduates of English CEGEP need 5 French Second Language (FSL) classes to graduate.
