Hi Parnell, This cake looks absolutely decadent. Of course I’ll try it and share with my family. I like adding the coffee and the chocolate chips on top. This cake looks like it’s calling for vanilla ice cream, yummy. Oh nothing can beat the chocolate cake w peanut butter icing. I can't have peanut butter chips and I wouldn't want to add chocolate chips on top but I would add white chocolate chips or Heath Bar toffee bits! Yum, yum!

Thank you! It definitely does look delicious. That's a good question. Originally, I was just going to layer the ingredients in the baking dish, like in most other dump cake recipes, but then I decided to mix everything together because I think that agitating the ingredients is necessary if you want a cake-like texture. So, if you make it, you don't have to spread everything out as evenly as I did, haha Thanks for asking! 🍫🍰

Hi! Yes you can. I personally would go for the half and half because I think the whipping cream might make it too rich, but I know some people would like the cake with the whipping cream--so it's personal preference. Let me know how your dump cake turns out.👍

I will add the chocolate chips to the batter. Than once the cake is done cooking,and cooling.l will melt a can of chocolate frosting and pour over the finished cake 😋😋😋😋

Thanks, John! That's a good question. I do like the creaminess of evaporated milk, but I'm not sure if it would make a big difference in the final product since the chocolate kind of overpowers everything--but if you have evaporated milk on hand, you could definitely use it. If you give this recipe a try with evaporated milk, let me know how it turns out!🥛👍

​@@ParnellTheChef I made the cake substituting evaporated milk. I also used milk chocolate chips. It turned out well. This was the first time I made this recipe so I didn't have a regular milk cake comparison. One thing I have noticed is that evaporated milk does not have that unique flavor that it had years ago. We would always use it in hot tea and homemade ice cream and other things and it always added a unmistakable taste. I find that it doesn't quite have that anymore. In a couple of days I am going to make it again using 'half and half' and peanut butter chips!

Interesting that the evaporated milk doesn't have as much of a distinctive taste as it used to have. What about a little cinnamon, my grandmother used tonalesus add a little cinnamon to enhance the choc;ate flavor?

You should melt the butter first in the microwave. Then mix all dry ingredients together. Then whisk cold milk with the now room-temperature butter before pouring over the dry ingredients. Mix well and pour into a buttered baking dish. Place it in a preheated oven set the timer and clean up your kitchen while you are waiting. Always clean up you messes while food is cooking.

Mix it in a bowl and sprinkle chips on top and you’re done. Over the top!!!

The Dump Cake has no boundaries,prior to my divorce I made one,the ex was flabbergasted,best desert she ever had, unfortunately it didn't save the marriage,hell damn near 30 years. The woman I am now seeing,we exchange desserts, meals, and our best breakfast. Coffee plays a role as well. 70 years old and still having fun,she is 58.

Hi! I'm not sure exactly how big your pan is, but you can always do the toothpick texture: insert a toothpick into the center--if it comes out clean (aside from melted chocolate chips), the cake is done. I hope that helps!

No, no eggs. I personally prefer cakes made with eggs, but this was still good. Vanilla ice cream would be great with this--I used whipped cream. 👨‍🍳😀

The coffee you add is it instant or just coffee grounds ? Makes more sense to mix in a separate bowl then pour into pan, i think i'd use coconut milk. No choc. chips at all. Where's the written recipe ?

Hi! The coffee is instant. 1 teaspoon is good, 2 if you really love coffee. I could see mixing it in a bowl, too...but then some people might say this isn't a "dump" cake. The fact that I'm mixing means some might not call it a dump cake, anyway, so it's complicated haha I think it could work with coconut milk, too, and with or without chocolate chip. That's a good question. I thought about doing that, but I think that, as with other cake recipes, mixing / agitating the ingredients together is necessary if you want a fluffy, cake-like texture. However, if you try this by just layering in the ingredients, let me know how it turns out 🍫🍫

Boy, there's nothing like damning with faint praise is there. Why'd you go to all the trouble to make the cake if you don't like it? It looked pretty good to me.

It's like cake-brownie! And since it is baked, scramble an egg into the milk to add the egg. I would also DEFINITELY NOT use powder milk but REAL milk or even half milk and half heavy cream. I think you'll like it much better!😊 that powder milk to me is a cry of desperation 😭😢

You are making a brownie recipe. Real cake recipes have EGGS in them. Makes the cake light. Why don't you use a mixing bowl for all the ingredients except the chips. Mixing the ingredients in the baking dish does NOT make it a dump cake.

Since you have to mix it u], it's not a dump cake.

That's just too much chocolate
