Chitkul is a beautiful village located in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh in India. It's situated at an altitude of 3,450 meters above sea level and is known for its stunning natural beauty and serene atmosphere.
First, let's talk about where we stayed during our trip. We stayed at the Banjara camps, which are located near the Baspa river and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The camps are well-equipped with all the necessary amenities, including comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, and a restaurant that serves delicious local cuisine.
Now, let's talk about our itinerary. We spent four days in Chitkul, and during that time, we explored the village and its surroundings. We started our first day with a visit to the Kamru Fort, which is located in the nearby town of Sangla. The fort is a historic landmark and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
On the second day, we took a leisurely walk around the village and interacted with the locals. We also visited the Chitkul temple, which is dedicated to the local deity, Mathi. The temple is a popular tourist attraction and is known for its unique architecture.
On our third day, we went on a trek to the nearby meadows and enjoyed a picnic lunch amidst the beautiful scenery. The trek was moderately challenging, but the views were definitely worth the effort.
Finally, on our last day, we just relaxed and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings before heading back to our respective homes.
Now, let's talk about how to reach Chitkul. The nearest airport is in Shimla, which is about 235 kilometers away. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Sangla, which is the nearest town to Chitkul. From Sangla, you can take another taxi or local transport to reach Chitkul village.
Overall, our trip to Chitkul was an unforgettable experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a peaceful getaway amidst stunning natural beauty.
